The market has a huge variety of delicious Thai street food, some shopping and Thai restaurants. We’ve been there many times and we love San Chao Night Market. Great food, friendly people and good prices... It's well worth a visit!

Might seem like a stupid question, first time in Thailand I assume all is good for westerners, common sense applies here I guess

Yes, use your common sense and you'll be fine. I buy food from markets like this nearly every day, but I'm a bit careful with what I eat. I the shop looks dirty I'll go elsewhere. If I buy chicken and it is not cooked all the way through I will either microwave it for a few minutes, or throw it in the bin, depending on where I am. If the food doesn't taste right, or smells weird I throw it in the bin. If you do have issues my recommendation is to get to a pharmacy or doctor as soon as possible and tell them exactly what you're symptoms are. I've seen people who leave it too long and then spend the rest of their holiday feeling terrible. It doesn't cost much to get professional help here I hope that helps, have a great holiday!
