Hi, I’m a recent subscriber , love your Chanel , those are great tips , in regards to your tips on renting a scooter , if I could offer another one to your viewers ,.. if you rent a scooter you can always ask if they’ll take the security deposit in your home countries currency , for example … last winter while in Phuket I rented a scooter for two months, the security deposit was 5000 baht , they allowed me to leave $150 usd instead ( that way , when you turn the scooter back in on the day your returning home you save yourself a trip to the money exchange booth and actually save a little money that you would lose in the process )

Well if you ever watched Dr John Campbell, what you had regarding your blood clot could be connected to having the vaccination, for you know what a few years ago, assuming you had taken it? Keep healthy lots of vitamin D, in Thailand that shouldn’t be a problem and avoid junk food, having a strong immune system is the key! Your giving good info for newbie’s and have a calm straight forward approach, good luck with your channel 👍

"Dr Campbell" as you call him is NOT an MD. He is a former nurse teacher. And he doesn't know much about medical science. Quite simply, he's a COVID profiteer and disinformation clown.

Yeah those iced coffees are delicious. Another tip, if you can find it, is to try out something called Orion. It's sort of very strong coffee which locals make themselves. Most tourists don't know about this. But those are delicious as well and very cheap since mostly local people buy it.

Last year in Thailand I dislocated my big toe and went to hospital, I had 3 x rays, the doctor gave a local anesthetic and re set it, Nurses dressed and splinted it, I got pain killers, went back a week later got x ray again, dressings removed. All this without health cover, the bill was only A$35. So while I am not riding a motorbike for the 1st 6 months I am not getting health insurance for now. :)

There was a lot of talk about Thailand taxing foreign money coming into Thailand starting Jan 01 , 2024. Have you got any advice on this, did they go ahead and does it effect your situation
@DiscoveringThailand
@DiscoveringThailand 6 месяцев назад
As far as I know, its about foreign income coming into Thailand. My savings were already taxed when I was employed in Australia, My super, when I can claim it, is not income and neither in the pension. Its also about Thai citizens earning income from overseas that's not taxed, also retired living here makes me a Thai Resident not Citizen. I will always be an Australian Citizen. :)
@travelsolo2677
@travelsolo2677 6 месяцев назад
@@DiscoveringThailand thanks, there was talk that our superannuation would be subject to Thai tax as Retirement Funds are tax free in Australia. A Thai Tax Law firm said that any of these funds entering into a Thai bank account would be subjected to Thai Tax if the laws were changed updated on Jan 1st. I haven’t heard if they passed or not. As long as the person stays in Thailand for more than 180days in the calendar year

Hi Pete from Vancouver, Canada! Love your channel! Why did you choose Chiang Mai? Was the south a consideration? I spent 3 months in Thailand this past Nov-Jan and visited Chiang Mai for a week and loved the vibe there. I want to go back to explore more. Thinking of possibly moving to Thailand as I am retired but would want to try living in various locations for a month or so to see how it is compared to vacation visits. Did you explore other locations or did Chiang Mai grab your attention and hold? Thanks, ...Derrick

I have lived in cambodia since 2013. When I went back to Australia in 2022 to apply for the aged pension I had to remain in Australia for 2 years before my pension became portable. Thankfully I have done my time and I have been back in Cambodia for 2 weeks with my family.

Can you tell us the names of those bike-hiring places you mentioned? also, do you think when you hire the bikes, there is insurance or do you have to buy them separately?
@DiscoveringThailand

I can't name the places until I have checked them out myself... There is no insurance and I doubt you can get your own. Photo or video the bike before you take it is the best thing you can do.

I used Chloe motorbike rental when I was in Chiang Mai for several months the winter of 2017, her daughter delivered it right to my hotel , the bike was so new the plates hadn’t even come in yet , when they came in her daughter came by and put the plates on , i would highly recommend using her, I was so happy with the bike ( pcx 150 ) that I had it detailed before I returned it , and to take it a step further I bought one when I got home to the states .
