In this episode we travel to Pattaya, Thailand and sell the scooter. Afterwards, I analyze the total cost of owning and operating the scooter for the 15 months since new to determine the average per month cost and provide further insight into what Thailand cost of living could be. Later, we travel to new motorbike dealerships and check out some inventory. Enjoy the Ride!

I used buy and sell and rent bikes in Chiang mai .Mostly i used Facebook Market place but also Auctions .Union Auctions have sales once a week in Chiang Mai ,Bangkok and a few more places around Thailand .The bikes are almost all one and two years old which have been taken back by finance Company's after the buyers failed to keep up with purchase repayments . All turned out good for me .I only purchased low mileage ones .The prices with all costs involved are not much different from buying privately .Its mainly of use when you need to buy 2 or 3 bikes or more .They do not have bikes over 300 cc or very seldom do .

I don't like to appear negative but... I have often heard that one should go to the Land Transport Office when selling, to ensure the new owner does actually re-register the vehicle, otherwise, if there is an accident the previous owner can still be held liable... E.G. You sell to a tourist, who doesn't re-register, he has a major accident, and does a runner, and flees the country - You will have the police after you...! If a Thai person is hurt, and sues you, the probability is you will lose...

@aaaces01
@aaaces01 4 года назад
A scooter is all automatic. A motorcycle has a manual gearbox and clutch. A scooter is easier to operate especially if you are inexperienced. Pro Tip: On any bike, look with your head where you want to go - don't look at what you want to avoid. Look up and assess road and traffic conditions far ahead of you.

2 baht / km sounds about right for the Yamaha Aero..... I had a 1997 Honda Dream, which I used as a weekend runabout and also toured quite a bit racking up about 210,000 km over 16 years. Bought for 15,000, sold for 4,000...... did better than 50 km / litre on a new gasohol comparable carb.... about 42 km/litre on the old carb. oil changed every 2000 km (110 baht) add in other costs (tyres, brakes, new clutch, new carb, engine overhaul etc as required) it worked out total cost of ownership was about 1 baht / km..... about 12,500 a year, or a little over 1,000 a month..... cheap motoring! My daily ride, however, was a bicycle..... with the cost of parts for bicycles being much more expensive than for a motorcycle, annual cost of maintenance was about the same as the motorcycle. The only saving was on fuel, which made up about half the cost of running the Dream. Bought the bicycle for 4,000 baht.... gave it away after I guess more than 100,000 km of use over 16 years..... all up cost probably about 0.5 baht per km

Assuming you mean the ADV150 rather than the X Adv 750, there is not much of a market yet because they are so new. I have noticed rental shops with them, so they may be dumping them in about 6 months to rotate their inventory, I expect them to do pretty well in the resale market space.
