Hi Peter, enjoying your videos. I live nearby, just off canal road. Came to live in Suthep, October 2022. If you need company with your Songkran festivities, let me know. Nothing weird 😵 I have some free time at the moment!
I agree With the bank cards A couple of times my head has gone oooo f#$k ,i have lost my card But it has always returned My last night here tonight ,fly back to Oz tomorrow Im back in Chang Mai in October to do a 10 trail ride tour Getvp yourself on it😊
@@DiscoveringThailand , you can do your residency certificate as when doing the licence they did that as well , that's what I was saying I only had to give them money and sit on my arse
When your at Immigration they just want to see your condo’s contract with the address for your TM30, I’ve never needs to do anything else, this was at Jomtien immigration office! Yes it’s needed to get the registration certificate to apply for a car/motorbike license, which I had to do also!
I enjoy all your videos Pete. I've just arrived for 30 + 30 days, I'm in Kao Cha Ngum with my Thai partner. I'm going to do all things you've done and eventually retire here. Your explanations are brilliant mate, don't worry about making a long story short 😂 555. George.
Kia ora from a Kiwi fascinated by your early retirement story and engaging RU-vid videos. I am mid-50's, single male, hoping to retire at 60, but very dedicated to being around for my elderly parents here in NZ for as long as they are alive, hopefully a long time yet. I see my retirement plan as being half the year in Asia, half in NZ (due to pension limitations requiring 180 days residency in NZ). I wonder how you have gone at finding your "tribe" since being in Chaing Mai - has it been easy to make friendships with locals / other ex-pats, join social circles, find groups with similar interests, join people for meals and activities? Also how much importance do you place on learning Thai language in the medium to long term? And lastly, is the studio condo meeting your needs - I'm not sure how I would go living long term in a single open space like you have, have you adapted to that well and does it serve your purposes? Sorry for all the questions, keep up the awesome videos and all the best, hopefully the smoky season is over soon, that would be a major off put for me in parts of SE Asia.
It takes no effort to meet others. Everyone is very friendly and happy to chat. I have been alone for many years and not in a hurry to get social. Thai is difficult to learn. I'm just aiming to know the basics. My studio is perfect for me. I spend a lot of time outdoors, another reason to stay single, it's fine for one person but 2 would not work ;) Thanks for your comment all the best to your plans.
When a foreigner comes to Thailand for any reason and stays in a hotel, rental apartment etc they show there passport and your info is recorded with immigration by the hotel staff or property owner. The TM30 is a copy/record of that proof of stay location.
Hey Peter, fellow Aussie, got a question about 2fa (2 factor authentication) I too bank with Suncorp and sometimes banks need to send you a text to your mobile number to verify. Do you still use your Aussie number for this?
I can put my Aussie sim in if I want but have not needed to. As long as you have internet, that verification will come through... not as a text message.
Your education on TM30s is not quite finished. Be aware it is incumbent on hotels to file a TM30 every time you check in. Nothing seems to come of it unless you happen to be staying in a hotel when your 90 day check in comes due, as just happened to me in Samui. Then I had to get the hotel's TM30, passport copies and wait in several queues to get the 90 day stamp. I will likely have to repeat the effort at my next check in here. Btw, you can also do the 90 day check in; On line At Central Festival immigration.
@@DiscoveringThailand Sounds like he'll. That's one thing I reconsider not living in Thailand full time. I can't take the heat. Stay hydrated. Stay cool .
you say 4th May ... its now 8th April , so that's a month , you say you'll get your paper work in a fortnight which would have been 2 weeks more .... I think you fucked up with the dates 5555
How can you do a cashless withdrawal. It's 300thb for your 2nd card and 200thb each year that's a total of $20 aussie dollars and it's $8 per year. I think you should get all your facts first before you start giving advice
