I used to stop along the road to stretch and it is always a farm of some sort. It is great you showed this because most people have no idea where rubber begins it's journey.

So much to see and do in beautiful Thailand, a Rubber tree farm, natural rubber none of that synthetic stuff, for a second I was confusing these with the tzictli(gum)tree over here, but these are Rubber trees. Looks like that lady isn't camera shy, she even turned towards ya and smiled!

@waynevietnam

The trees are cut every two days and usually cut early in the morning starting at 1 am. You should not touch the latex because it leaves a sticky film on your fingers. Rubber prices fluctuate and now are not bad.

The most stressful thing I have ever done is build a house, my contractor was a nightmare, and that seems to be about normal. I can't recommend anyone but I will say don't let them buy the materials and stay on site as much as possible, the minute your back is turned stupid happens....lol In my experience most Thai workers are a nightmare to deal with, that is the reason I do as much of my stuff as I can myself. Good Luck.

Every morning, for about 9 months a year, depending on weather, they normally stop during the dry season and can't do it if it is raining.

Takes 7 years for the tree to mature fully, takes a very long time for any of the plantations to see a profit, the workers have already seen a downside in the labor....

My friend I'm an Amazon delivery driver and I average for the year 6.3 miles per day. For the two and a half months leading up to the New Year That average was 8.7 miles And I even had About a dozen days where I averageed between 10-12 miles in a day. The most that I've ever done in a single day was 12.8. in an 11-hour shift. Now I average roughly 3 mi more per day Then the average worker within my own DSP and that is because of the particular route that I have. My route consists of an extremely wealthy neighborhood that sprawls along a jagged coastline on the water and the average driveway is about 50 yds. When I first started to track the steps on my route after about a month into starting I was mind-blowing at how much I was walking I would have never guessed it was that much. That's mainly because when you're doing this job you're in the zone and time and distance seems to have no meaning. It's hard work but I love it.

Hi, the rubber latex will be mixed with diluted Glacial Acitic acid to coagulate. In the Philippines farmers sell their raw rubber (wet rubber) at arour 36 pesos per 1 kg.

As latex production declines with age, rubber trees are generally felled when they reach the age of 25 to 30 years. The earlier practice was to burn the trees, but in recent decades, the wood has been harvested for furniture making. Wikipedia , Hevea brasiliensis, the Pará rubber tree, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hevea_brasiliensis .
@lifeinthailand
@lifeinthailand 5 лет назад
I was told by a rubber farmer about 15 years ago that they keep the trees for 20 years. the wood does make nice furniture, I have a table made from rubber tree wood, it's very nice.

Cash crop farms are disappearing and industries are popping up with man made. Which is sucks. By the ways Thai has one of the biggest bamboo in the world. You should check it. They harvest them and make furniture. Only seen on RU-vid videos. I'm not sure what kind of dish they do with giant bamboo shoots they harvest. They are bigger then those two kids you have on videos. Interesting place to visit.

@lifeinthailand
@lifeinthailand 6 лет назад
The farmer told me that he gets 40 baht per KG (just over 1 USD) but my Thai is not good enough to ask him how much liquid it takes to make 1kg of the rubber mat. Rubber is processed and dried in 1kg mats, some farmers just sell the liquid too I think and it is processed after, probably depends on the size of the operation.

Great video ! I wonder how many workers become allergic to latex 🤔 The percentage of people who develop this allergy is around 5% in the US but I bet it’s higher in Asia where most of the plantations are located. I didn’t even know that allergy existed until 3 years ago and now my symptoms are severe 😞 It started with a skin rash on my hands when I’d wear rubber gloves to wash the dishes, and then hives on my upper body from elastics in clothing. It was very puzzling at first as I had never heard of that allergy. Then one day we bought a mattress made with latex foam…big mistake!! This daily exposure worsened my allergy and I had difficulty breathing, nausea…it took me a while to understand what was happening. This is a progressive allergy, with a cumulative effect like bee stings, so every exposure can worsen your symptoms overnight with no warning. That’s what happened to me, and this has turned my life upside down. I wish there was more information about this allergy because once you have it it’s for life and there’s no treatment. Prevention is key!! Now it’s too late for me but I’m trying to raise awareness so that people understand the risks of being exposed to latex. Nowadays my allergy is severe, so if I touch a rubberband or a latex glove I have an immediate anaphylactic reaction and it’s terrifying. My blood pressure drops, my heart beats very fast and my throat swells shut. I have to carry an epipen wherever I go just in case I run into a balloon or something else made of latex. I wish people were more careful around natural latex in order to keep exposure to a minimum. As for synthetic rubbers they’re another kind of problem, either because they’re petroleum based or because they contain toxic additives. Basically natural rubber and synthetic rubber are both dangerous, but for different reasons!
