Still currently locked down here in Phuket and things have been decent. There seems to be a good balance of keeping people safe and allowing people some freedom with all things considered. Beaches and pools are closed and there's a 22:00-04:00 curfew, but they've automatically extended tourist visas until June 30th and you can be outside in your region as long as it's not in a big group gathering. Daily/weekly numbers seem to keep getting lower and it feels fairly safe overall

I'm in the southern province of Narathiwat and in here it's more or less the same: karaoke bars are closed, alcohol isn't sold and we are unable to leave the province for the neighbouring provinces of Yala or Pattani. Malaysia has closed its borders too, so we're basically stuck here. At least 90 percent of the people wear face mask outside, including me. No fine for not wearing one afaik, but we do have the same curfew as the rest of LOS of course. Not gonna try my luck with it.

The Thai got quite a good social responsibility in the way comparing to the Brits, as I'm in Manchester right now. My colleague died on the 6th April from Covid19. I rang the Covid19 emergency numbers, told them about what happened. Instead of tell me to go in and have a quick check, she told me to quarantine and wait if I've attracted the virus or not. None of my colloquies have been test. I wonder what the Thai would do about that if I told them that I was working in the same office with dead guy?

So depressing, I am now in Amman Jordan the same thing here except we cannot leave our homes on the weekends. 100% lockdown until sunday. Then curfew during the week.

@@pvonloe Things are working well in Thailand because the Government is efficient and organized and the people understand what needs to be done to defeat the virus. They also have lots and lots of testing. Only way to lift the lockdown. US would do well to learn from Thailand.

@@kittyandthekatz8046 The US does 6-7 times more testing than Thailand. Per capita. However, people congregate and ignore quarantine suggestions in the US a lot more. Most people in Thailand are wearing masks is a major difference, as well as the humidity and temperature. That helps.

here in Bohol Panglao tourism is 100% shutdown because of covid. I dont know when it will bounce back since chinese are the number 1 tourist here. They owned here big hotels and resorts and bringing bus loads of tourists but now totally nothing!

Also denied people from Wuhan access to Beijing hospitals so they would have to go overseas for treatment, further ensuring the spread. They didn't want to suffer alone from their mistakes.

I´ve been there 2 weeks before....it became more and more like a ghosttown. I took the chance to fly back to europe at 9th april because it was not shure if a 24 hours curefew will come. To sit there and not be able to do anything or travel around was no nice perspective to spend my vacation. I hope for Thai people it will be opened up again soon, because many people are going to be desperate because no work means often enough no food.

@@Keyframe5 almost everyone who has been in Thailand expirienced once or multiple times the abuse and scams from Thai on dayli bases. For the huge amount of money the country was making from tourists it did not do enough to protect tourists from abuse and scams. Maybe now they will look it the tourists from a different prospective.

i guess more Thais have been abused by decadent farangs by far. Thai people only look for making a good deal with rich and often enough decadent farangs...and that happens in every country of the world. I have been in Thailand many times and never made a bad experience while beeing friendly and polite with Thai-people.
