KOH LARN Thailand, is just a 40 minute public ferry boat ride from Bali Hai Pier Pattaya. It only costs 30 Thai Baht each way to this Beautiful Island.
You will be amazed at some of the Beaches if found after hiring a scooter for the day. So lets take a look around.

Nice one Geoff ! - I have mixed emotions watching this video as I have visited Koh Larn on many occasions with friends that have unfortunately all passed away now - so viewing was tearful but memories of happier times came flooding back. Back in 1989 we hired a speed boat to take us to Tien beach with a group of Aussie mates. It was a fast ride but so long as you didn't mind having your spine shattered it was good. . Happy days. We were staying in the old Royal Garden Hotel. Wow things have changed on beach road now. Have fun Geoff.

I did something very similar in 1986. Ko Larn was empty back then, and it was so cheap ... unless you wanted ferang food... but I was a bit lost being only 22 at the time. The nightlife terrified me!

in January this year they were 1,500 THB with a top speed of 22 mph they meet you at the main pier in the small parking area There are 2 types, a 2 seat and a 4 seat a full charge lasts all day with reasonable use @@geoffcarter

Tien is a nice beach. I'm still a bit partial to Monkey beach, then again I guess now being high session it's a bit more busy here now. You can definitely get a speedboat at the end of the day to take you right back to the Bali Hai Pier. Either way you go Koh Larn is the way to go when in Pattaya area and only 1.5 - 2 hr drive from BKK too Bali Hai and like you said 40 min ferry or 15-20 on speedboat (150 thb) Also quite nice to stay over the night and there's a couple of nice bars there with some live music. When I went last, a couple of months ago, my friends and I were the only farang there that I could see.

Geoff,didn't realise how long it has been since we were there,went to that island, it was nothing like that then,such a shame,people are looking for hidden gems,utube can,be a blessing and a nightmare, you always think of it in your minds eye ,thinking will be looking some were else round the islands ,mind you are right about scooters,much better for finding places,thankyou for your very informative blog, can't wait for the next one

Koh Larn is a good excuse to try to find a decent beach while in Pattaya. Nothing out of this world, but worth it to get out of Pattaya for a day.

Hi Geoff been to Ko Larn many times I usually stay 3 or 4 days...there are about 5 different beaches on the island try to do a different one every day....beep beep

On the ferry there are people who grab you and guide you on and off the boats. It’s very safe. The speed boats are a different kettle of fish! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

Recently there has been a spate of accidents with boats/ ships in the Gulf of Thailand when on board wear the life jacket, be a survivor in the event of an accident

The only day i spent there was so relaxing (wont mention the Urchins 🤦‍♂) Me and my friend just sat down and relaxed for hours and used the food vendors just behind us ..Lovely day i must admit ,Baking hot 🥵Next time i will go more inland ....I can just picture me there the next time .''Mr Boon'' i'm shouting he's only just stood behind me Geoff 🤦‍♂😁Thanks for bringing back memories mate 🙏Im sure i spent the time at the busy beach early on in the vid that day ☀Mate ,smother your face with Nivea sun lotion like it was going out of fashion ..Im worried, and it's the best suntan lotion out there.. Have been to many Thai islands over near 40 years. Sorry I don't rate Koh Larn very highly compared to other islands, and it gets very crowded. But its certainly got nicer and cleaner beaches than Pattaya, which isn't hard. Likewise with Koh Samet, its a crowded small island with lots of sand flies and mosquitoes. Although definitely all much better than Blackpool beach which was recommended to me when in England.
