Thakkali/ Tomato Rasam 🍅
For Rasam powder
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Toor dal - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Dried chillies - 4 nos
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Other ingredients
Hing - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Dry Roast all the ingredients till it turns golden brown and aromatic, let it cool down completely. Then add Hing & turmeric powder and grind finely.
For Rasam
Grind 2 big ripe Tomatoes + a small piece tamarind soaked in water
Add to a pot
1 cup water
2 tbsp Rasam powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/4 tsp Hing
Coriander stem / stalk
Add more Water to adjust the consistency
Give it a stir and bring it to boil
Once it starts to boil, turn off the heat add the tempering to it and coriander leaves
For tempering
Ghee - 1 tsp + oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dried red chilies - 2 nos
Garlic - 3 cloves (finely chopped)
Shallots - 2 nos (small onion)
Curry leaves
