The chief executive of Thames Water has refused to rule out bill increases of up to 40% for customers as the troubled company tries to secure its future.
Chris Weston told Sky's Ian King he did not think the firm had been "at all secretive" about the possibility of prices rises.
It comes as the business, which serves nearly a quarter of the UK's population, struggles with more than £15bn of debt and the huge interest payments required to service it.

Our water bill has gone up by about 400% In the last 3 years. A ban needs to be put on their bonuses, Followed by renationalisation of the water companies.

Water is the most important aspect of any society. It should always be in the hands of the people, for the people ! Why the hell should we pay for the water in our own land to line other peoples pockets ? It should be in our own hands, sold to us at a fair price with the profits invested back into the industry.

“Investments may go down as well as up”. Thus, this is a gamble but surely investors KNOW that they cannot INSIST on a return if the business is handled so badly as to not have a Dividend to pay out. Customers HAVE paid for all the improvements, replacement sewerage, etc., whereas all the profits have gone in dividends and bonuses. It is the responsibility of Thames Water to find this money. They’ve been paid it and wasted it.

If bills go up they should be taken to court. This is on them preferring to give themselves millions upon millions for not doing their damn job. They didn't do the job they get paid to do, so they can pay for THEIR GROSS NEGLIGENCE themselves.

Gov needs to inject circa 1.5 Bn£ for new share issue this would give the taxpayers 51% of the votes….. time for the current shareholders loose control and have their investments devalued
