This is the most beautiful temple in Tamil Nadu For those who are interested in ancient temple tour of King Raja Raja Chozhan there are still hundreds of temples waiting in and around Tanjavur
I did my last 4 yrs schooling in Tanjavur. I used to live just 1.5 kms away from the temple. Me n my friend used to go to temple at evenings sometimes n sit at the lawns to do the h.w. I always feel a special connection with this temple , I feel as if I was there during the construction of the temple in my previous birth. Om Namah Shivaya
I visited Thanjavur more than 30 years ago. I saw the Brihadeeshwar temple for the first time from the bus in the light of setting sun. It's majestic structure was lit up in reddish light. That sight is still with me. I plan to go there next January when the climate is cooler. We Marathi people has an attachment since Thanjavur was ruled by Maratha empire and the descendants of the Bhosales are still there.
Last year a Tamil film was released “Ponniyin Selvan” that portrayed the achievement of the Great Chola King Raja Rajan who had Thanjavur as capital and ruled entire South Asia including today’s Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. I moved to Singapore in 2007 and it is nice to see the greatness of the great King portrayed in Indian Heritage centre. Thanjavur has air connectivity via Vayudhooth service back in 1987 as Thanjavur has Air Force station. The Air Force station is developed now and it is one of the key defence establishment now in South India.
I was born in this town and spent my school studies there in the 70’s and mid 80’s . I had seen making of Verna and art plates in late 70’s and early 80’s. I had never seen how paintings were made and where it was made in my hometown. The town has developed over years. I learnt Sanskrit in late 70’s from pandits serving the Saraswathi Mahal back then that helped me to manage communication in Delhi back in 2000 and 2001.
Very nice vlog, good cinematography. The video is good quality. Greetings from South Africa. I am definitely going to visit this place , the temple is stunning at night, wow. The artisan goods are super, I will buy, thank you for telling and showing me.

Really loved your video. The way you covered everything was exactly what one looks for before planning to travel. Would be great if you could share if we can plan for the Painting demo and the Veena making demo and doll making demo. Also, request to please include how much time you spent at every location and if all these can be covered in a single day. Thanks!
Accidentally stumbled on this vlog - Thanks to youtube suggestions. Really enjoyed this vlog and it's not too short or lengthy.. covered all aspects from a Tourist POV. Thank you and more power to you!
Thanks desi girl-ji, sorry I forgot your name. I enjoyed the total tour. I heard about this temple so much. I request you, if possible, try to show little more details of the architectural aspect of these renowned temples of south. These are really architectural marvel of the country.
I could do that but understand that camera is mostly not allowed at most of these temples or any ASI sites. So I shoot with whatever limitations is thrown at me and still try to convey as much as I can :)

Good video. But suggest you have more info like when talking about the palace, you can give some history behind it like it was but the Maratha kings who ruled the later part Earlier were the Cholas who built the Brihadishwara temple

Madam you left one information. Thanjavur was ruled by Maratha rulers who were mainly responsible for the development of art and culture. Actually Shivaji Maharajs half brother Ekoji founded the maratha dynasty of Tanjore.
