Thank God, Texas - The Town That Had To Change Its Name - This video tells the story of how and why a small area in Texas wanted to name itself "Thank God", and why instead it is named "Blessing". Yes, it is a real town in southeastern Texas, and the history of how it got its name. While I have read about this story in several places, I first heard about it on a TV program by Ray Miller called "The Eyes of Texas". This was some time in the last 1960s or early 1970s.
