Saved my life. I don't think I'd be here if I hadn't stumbled on Heartstopper. Realising I was bi at 52 but also giving me the ways to process and understand myself. Most importantly, to like myself and know I don't need another person to validate me. Single and loving myself for the first time since I was 16. Heartstopper is a lifesaver 💙💛

At 53 years old I have also come to terms with so much after reading all of Alice’s books. While I didn’t have the same history that you did, I have also found so many answers to so many Questions. Realizing that I’m on the ACE spectrum has brought so much peace (and some more questions) . I thought I was watching because both of my children are part of the LGBTQIA+, but I found that I was watching/reading because of myself as well… ❤❤

From one Ace that didn't realize it til their 30s to another, thank you so much for this lovely video! I too wish Alice's work had been around when I was a kid, and it just shows how incredibly important it is to have positive and grounded and real representation available. So so so many aces think they're broken. I thought I was. I can't wait to see Isaac's story in Heartstopper season 2, and hope he has a lot of similarities to Alad from the comic/Radio Silence. I've come to terms I'm an Ace only in the past 2 years - also in my 30s. It caused quite bit of problems for me before I understood myself and talking about it is so important. The inclusivity in Alice's writing is so important.

I don't think Alice or Joe or Kit or anyone else connected to the show or the books will ever _fully_ understand the magnitude of the impact they've had. I've said it dozens of times: Heartstopper has repaired many lives and very literally saved many others. The monumental benevolence of that impact is likely unprecedented. I wouldn't know how to begin thanking someone who has accomplished that.

I came across your initial reaction to Heartstopper a couple weeks ago and have been watching all of your backlog of content ever since. I couldn't figure out why it felt so impactful to me directly but I think I just figured out why. this thank-you to Alice is so very similar to an Instagram post I made last year during pride month where I finally came out as asexual myself. only Alice's books gave me the courage to explore that I might be, explore and heal from last trauma, and finally feel confident enough to come out.. Same here! Realizing I'm on the ACE spectrum at 40! 🤭Actually, in my case, it was around a year ago while reading an M/M romance with 2 asexual MCs on it ("Upside Down" by NR Walker). I went on the ACE online forums and when I started reading people's comments is when I figured out some of the things they were saying resonated with me... Anyway, in an over sexualized world it's important to make clear we're NOT broken! So thanks so much for sharing ❤ (And also a big thanks to Alice for creating such a fantastic universe of diverse characters! 😻)

Oh, my gawds, Jackie. Thank you for this. I'm weeping. I'm a couple of decades older than you. While my family isn't necessarily homophobic, I experienced the same thing you had at 9 years old. I love Alice and the stories they've given us. I love their characters as much as I love my own daughter and grandkids. Alice has even saved me. I found their work last year on Netflix and have obsessed over all of the Oseman-verse ever since. All of these characters, even Isaac, Imogen, Ben, and Harry, help to heal, or at least begin to heal, the pain and trauma we go through. It's lovely that this new generation has true icons to look up to. You are one of those, my guy! You're a definite hero and I love your videos!

Your words in this video were so poignant and moving. I know exactly how you feel when you said things would be so much easier if this kind of work was available years ago. I’m 44 and I didn’t have a rough coming out at all but this show made me see and believe there is a better world for the younger generations coming up. Oh Jackie, this video is amazing. Yeah I am an old French lady. Also, sorry for my bad English. I take you in my arms and hug you like a warm and kind mum. Your video makes me cry. I discover my asexuality only two years ago, and that completely transform the vision of my life. All that seems being abnormal, weird, strange… take suddenly sense. Of course that was that ! Thank you so much. I poured my heart and soul into this one and it's taken me nearly a year to write (and re-write!) and 4 weeks to film and edit. I'm very proud of it. It's definitely my best work and has set the bar for more short films in the future on this channel. ♥

That was really powerful. Thank you for sharing your story. When I started watching Heartstopper last year, it affected me very deeply. I think, mostly, because of things I never got to experience in my youth. But also because how wonderful the show is as a whole. I have lost count how many times I have watched it. @@JackieRossLavender I have a suggestion - I have been searching for a video that takes us on a tour of the filming locations. There are a couple but they are just so-so. Either the editing is not great or they focus too much on other things. For those of us who live in other countries/states (LA California for me) I would love to see video of the iconic filming locations such as Herne Bay as you did in this video. Not sure how close you live to them and I know they are spread around mostly the south/central east part of the UK. But if you ever get a chance that could make an awesome video or series of them. Netflix just dropped a short video of the inside of the school which was nice. Anyway, just thought I would throw this idea out there. Cheers!

I was so hesitant to watch this because I already cried loads on your reaction videos to Heartstopper. I am so happy that today, I decided to click this and watch (and cry, again). I admire you for not being afraid to show vulnerability in front of your audience. Your story, just like all of Alice's work, will definitely change someone's life.
