Thank you to all our subscribers and fans for making this such a fun and interesting journey so far! I am loving all the suggestions and am discovering some amazing music. Looking forward to what’s to come!
You're very cool and The channel is very enjoyable. I learn something every time I tune in...💯%TWA Thanks for sharing my favorite Band..THE WARNING 🤘🎶✌️
Thank you for starting this channel. I really appreciate musicians and people that have been in the music industry reacting and commenting on my favorite artists and artists I have never heard of. Your insight is really appreciated. I'm a Warning fan and absolutely love your reaction to their music. Would love for you to start at the beginning of their musical career and react to their music and other interviews as well as other videos they have put out . They have videos out about the gear each of them use and so many other videos that I think you would enjoy. In my opinion these ladies have so much talent, musical knowledge and stage presence at such a young age. I know they have put in alot of hard work and long practice hours to get where they are. To me they have as much talent as bands with 30+ years experience. Dany,Pau and Ale are just such an amazing rock band. I'm 59 years old and this is the best band I have heard in over 25 years. Keep up the great work on your channel. It is very informative and entertaining.🎸🤘🏻
Warning fan here. Love what you've done so far - Evolve at the VMAs, Automatic Sun studio w/live footage, Enter Sandman, Amour, and Survive at Teatro. Good list already. Any The Warning journey must include the video that launched them in 2014 - Enter Sandman from The Warning Cave. And then a few years later, the Metallica cover of Atlas Rise at the Whiskey A Go-Go in 2019 is also a must see - they still weren't old enough to be in the bar. The other must-see is Hell You Call A Dream live at Pepsi Center CDMX from fall 2023.
You are welcome, you do a great job. On the warning, it’s not just the music, which is fantastic, the behind the scenes, and vlogs from their house and interviews are how a lot of people came to love these young ladies.
Keep up your authentic way of doing this channel, very refreshing! And I must add to your comment 1/2 way through this...Doing a Radiohead journey in order of release would be fantastic! They really evolve and change each album (except for Kid A and Amnesiac which were really in the same recording sessions, just released separately). You could miss their first album Pablo Honey, but definitely do from The Bends onwards
I think listening to Pablo Honey is a great way to see how they change from beginning to end. every album is worth a listen, because even pablo honey has some masterpieces
The shear number of bands to hear have exploded since our time period. Instruments, and available teaching methods are x 100 from the old days. So many genres….. so many songs. Keep rockin 🤘🕊❤️🤘 ⚡️⚡️⚡️ STP…. Great, fresh jazz influenced, ass kickin’ R&R ❤️✌️
I (and I think everyone here) really appreciate everything you do on the channel. As a musician myself I love that you've decided to dive more into the music and talk about structure, chord selection, etc. It's really fascinating and I've been thoroughly enjoying every video. Keep it up!
Hi Erol. I appreciate your knowledge and quiet style, thank you. As a late starter to amateur singing, some music theory would certainly be appreciated by me.
I think you're striking a great balance of providing technical insight without bogging down. Keep exploring the Warning (Crimson Queen from Lunar is a fav) and if you want to check out something really different look at Heilung and their video for Anoana
No, Thank you Erol! Love your TW reactions! TBH that's all I have heard so far, but take a trip down the Music Theory road by all means. If you want to do something, just do it! The bus will be full if you are driving. Thanks again for all you do! 👍👍👍
Absolutely. The Warning doesn’t have a bad song. Including their EP they wrote as literal children (as homework assignments). Go straight thru the catalog. & a fantastic way is doing 2fers. Do the studio and do a live together. Gives you a great feel for the song & the band. Most everything is right on their channel & we can give you options when you can’t find something particular or which live version is best.
I still have a voracious appetite at age 65. Love your reactions you pick up the music almost instantly and can play it. That’s amazing in itself. If you want to check out a Japanese band of girls called the muses they are incredible thanks and I’ll stay subscribed.
You're thanking us... we're thanking you... There is good symbiosis here... You get exposed to new an interesting music and we get to hear new and interesting perspectives on the music we love. You are correct: your channel is not the typical reaction channel. Thank you sir! And yes, I would be down for some music theory. Bring it on!
Can only echo what others have said in terms of your presentation style and erudition - it's a joy and I can't wait to see the channel grow and grow as I know it will. In terms of requests/suggestions, I'd like to throw Black Midi and Black Country, New Road into the mix - they're incredibly creative musicians who do some absolute wild and beautiful stuff which I'd love to hear your take on. Harmony theory is also very welcome - especially the juicy chord sequences which just make you tick. Would love to hear your recommendations to us for a change, if that's not too much of a twist in the format? Oh, and nearly forgot to mention Joanna Newsom :D Here's hoping persistence will pay off! Thanks for the channel, and good luck with the next steps.
Thanks for doing what you do! I thoroughly enjoy hearing your thoughts, especially your deep dives. There's definitely a Radiohead progression through their albums, and worth listening to them chronologically. They're known for one of the most surprising left turns in alt/rock from OK Computer to Kid A (3rd to 4th albums). Some lesser known suggestions for you: Animals as Leaders - Physical Education Three Trapped Tigers - Engrams Puscifer - Remedy (this one is definitely more known 😁) Keep on keeping on!
Keep being you! These things take time to cook. We are all subject to the algorithm gods, but you'll make it in the end. Cream rises to the top. so, I'd vote for more album type reactions, especially for Tool. I'd watch music theory videos, but I know enough about it that while some find it fascinating, it's a niche at best. Anything that adds views is good, though. I'd say do things that make YOU happy and reflect what you want the world to see from you. Enjoy the ride, my friend. Spiral out.
Thanks for adding extra sophistication into the sphere of the reactors☺. TW's Queen of the murder scene (OTMS) is a concept album. You'll have fun with that if you do that in one run. TW has done a special live concert for that. Nowadays Beth (Portishead) can't really hold her notes anymore live, but when I saw Portishead in the 90s, she and they were top class.
I really enjoy your reactions because you seem genuinely happy and intrigued at the same time. I'm a non-musician but love music. I love the little details you may add to a song that I otherwise would not know. So, I learn something new. Thanks!
Hello from New Zealand.. Loving the channel mate. Great to see some of old timers getting into the reaction scene....its revived my interest in music I've been listening to for far too long, watching someone else experience the feelings I did when I first heard those songs.
What has been fun with watching your channel is how much you enjoy listening to new (to you) music. Haters going to hate. I enjoyed your daughters shorts of your gig, pretty impressive for an old dude, like me. So, as to The Warning. I think you need to check out her gear run down
Really enjoying what I’ve seen so far Erol. Very perceptive, thoughtful and insightful take on the songs you’ve listened to. As requests go… can I suggest the song ‘Marquee Moon’ by the band Television. From their debut album from 1977 called ‘Marquee Moon’. Hugely influential track by a hugely influential band…they were one of the early bands from the New York, CBGB’s punk scene…along with the likes of Blondie, Talking Heads, The Ramones, Patti Smith etc. they would have a massive influence on many amazing bands from the late 1970’s/ 80’s post punk / alternative music scene in both the U.S. and U.K. critical listening IMO with some amazing guitar parts by both guitarists Tom Verlaine (singer) and Richard Lloyd.
I enjoy your analysis and reactions. I’m here for TW and have been quite impressed thus far. I like your discography idea, there is a lot of content to react to. Add in concerts, covers and individual performances, there is a lot to do.
Yes, you are correct about the Tool discography! Please do them in chronological order just like we listened to them as they came out. Thanks, I love your reactions! 🤘🌀👍
Hello Erol! Thank you for the thank you! I appreciate your kind demeanor almost as much as I do your music knowledge and visible joy when you’re listening. If it pleases the host and Allie, may I request you guys check out ‘Crumbling Castle’ by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard live on KEXP from 2018. Odd name, absolutely incredible 6-piece band. Lots of time signature changes but I’d especially love to see you describe the polyrhythms. It’s a proggy song with a psych rock base. It’s from the fantastic concept album Polygondwanaland, which was one of five albums they released in 2017. I really hope you choose to check them out. They are all over the map genre-wise but the base is psych/prog/metal/badass. Cheers! JB
I appreciate your approach and background. I've followed music all my life too, but there's more out there than any one person can tackle. One comment on The Warning is that the farther you go back in their discography you'd expect them to sound more amateurish simply due to their age, but you'll be gobsmacked by their songwriting as teens. Thanks and try not to get overwhelmed with it all.
I've just come across this channel and the first two reactions i saw were Portishead and Massive Attack. Don't think ive ever subbed to a channel so quickly, really enjoying your reactions 👍
I would love more music theory. I devour that kind of analysis, especially for my favorite songs. Chord progressions, modes, timings. Honestly, that's what got me to buy a guitar and start learning. On Radiohead (my favorite) I don't think you need to go in order. I've been suggesting their songs that I think will be most interesting to you, as you seem to get excited about complexity. Honestly, though, you can just pick them at random. My Radiohead picks for you to get to: How to Disappear Subterranean Homesick Alien I Might Be Wrong Reckoner Street Spirit Codex Cheers, and gratitude back to you and Allie. ✌️
On the subject of Radiohead, of course we’d love to have you go through the albums! The reason I personally ask for specific songs (like The Daily Mail) is because I think with your specific tastes and knowledge of chords, you’d really be amazed at it. Of course their entire catalogue is worth listening to, and we’d we excited if you did, but we assume you won’t get to it all, so we throw specific requests out there. Also Portishead’s album “Dummy” is their big album with all great tracks so it’s a much shorter list.
Agreed on Radiohead. If I had a choice, it would album reactions in chronological order. Not only are they heavily invested in the album experience, but we get to see their incredibly unique evolution as a band. As for Portishead, I actually think Third is their best album. People ignore it because it’s not trip-hop but it’s a masterpiece.
I'm going to throw Mastodon out there. It's a progressive metal band with really cool riffs, two singers, and some weird time signatures. I think it's something you can appreciate. I think Blood and Thunder is a good song to start with. But if no one else is recommending it it's all good. Love your channel.
Try not to fall into the trap of "requests". You might find yourself constantly chasing your tail, metaphorically. Listen to what you want, when you want. Don't risk potential burnout or trying to cater to the Internet. You will only find yourself turned off to the experience.
It can be overwhelming to succeed at anything. "Uh-oh, now I have to figure out how to share my time!" What a great challenge to have, right?!? As for going chronologically through a band's albums, I'm a strong advocate of that approach. Some reactors have rotated bands over the course of weeks, by declaring a [band1] Monday, [band2] Tuesday… etc. When it comes to The Warning, it is easy to do, because they have hundreds of videos on their channel. LIVE is their superpower (along with lyrical genius and what I call "genre bendre" - their ability to borrow from many musical styles and influences at the same time, and mash them all together into a new, unique sound. The Warning Army will predictably give you a list of their better live shows to react to. The very first one I would pick would be THE WARNING at Liceo de Monterrey (Complete) || June 8, 2015, found on Trey Salazar's channel. It was an early morning concert at their school, on the last day of school, and they kept their fellow students on their feet. It was an audition to get into the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, for their Summer, 2015, session for 14+ year old students. Ale was 10 and Pau was 12, so they had to audition! As you will see, they nailed it. They played four covers, then played songs from their first EP, *Escape the Mind.* It is a tear-jerker for many parents to watch it, and realize how good they were after just a few years of practice and performance.
Definitely mix in other bands than Tool also :) While they are great starting point and great band! Metallica is very popular reaction material if they are not familiar, and they kind of lack musicians point of view type of reaction videos.
Regarding social media - "Peeing in an ocean of pee", although I'd say that less politely. Love the reactions, it's more interesting for me when you do the less mainstream stuff - I
@@ErolReacts Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Scott Walker for me are pretty faultless - hell, I'd really like to hear/see your reaction to the last couple of Scott Walker albums. I really, really dig it when musicians/artists decide "I've got enough money" and instead of chasing fame/relevance they decide to get more experimental - even if it doesn't "work" I really respect it. I think that's why Radiohead deserve so much credit.
