@@aaronninjaelf Couldn't agree more. Some of these videos in the compilation you're like this isn't a 'tHaNk YoU dArK sOuLs', the game and area was literally designed for that to happen??
Myself from like 1 week ago would literally be obliterated by have but now that Im playing dark souls 2 I really used the roll XD its literally imposible to keep doing the same in dark souls 2 of only running and rolling just a couple times
@@GiygasStarman the phrase was in "", referring to the fact that there are many people in the dark souls community, who think that only dark souls 2 has bad hitboxes. We can't even point out bad hitboxes in other games now, because "you rolled too early".
@@ColonelKebabShop well, can't blame the game, if you re-play it (since nobody does a level 1 run on their first try right?) and you fall for a trap which you already should know. Even IF you play it for the first time, it's your own decision to play like this and you can't blame the game either
Yes! If one likes to run past anything, then one must be aware that he/she will get brutally and mercely "gangbanged" at some time. And it is annoying as hell, and also frustrating, since one will lost more time and more souls when he/she was just trying to be quick.
@@sakura368 Yes! I myself, even though I know the tricks to avoid many enemies, I usualy don't do it, because it makes me kind of nervous sometimes, knowing that one little failure means death.
@@vittocrazi that's entirely fair. But you didn't say that at all. It was hardly even implied in your comment. I agree they are gotchas, but they're also heavily telegraphed. Not hard to just take your time in these games and avoid those moments.
Havel was the scariest thing I ever encountered on my first few hours of my first playthrough, but on my second run, his greatshield and one shotting dong was comparable to a joke against parries and backstabs, thats the dark souls experience for you!
I can tolerate a lot of ridiculous stuff this game throws at me. But what bothers me the most.. what frustrates me the most... Is those SLIPS and FALLS. Honestly don't know when your steps are going to be your doom. Everything is like walking on ice.
Just like with ER, the toughest boss of these games is actually your character control (well, at least on mouse-kboard). My (now deleted) char bears so many salty curses for jumping instead of rolling and switching weapon wielding instead of showing second items menu.
Agreed. This video shows a lot of how FS aren’t the gods of game development people want them to be. Areas like Blight Town prove it further. They couldn’t even program walking over a plank of wood properly. Many times you can get stuck on geometry in the heat of battle and the hardest enemy is actually the camera once you “git gud”. Their world building and art design have always been the best aspects of the souls games. The combat tactics/mechanics are largely the same in every game with some changes in BB and Sekiro. Their games are still fun but people praise them like they are the absolute peak of game development and that’s just not the case. Elden Ring is great and easily their best game as far as mechanics and functional game play go but still has some BS moments as well (I’m still early on so I’m sure there’ll be some stuff that comes up as I play).
@@slartybartfast1112 that I can definitely agree with. I think the problem with people who defend "From Software" is they don't understand just how bad they can be. They like to just focus on the good things they do while completely ignoring all the bad. Sometimes I think Fanboys take bad design and think that it just adds difficulty so it's not really bad design when it actually is.
Love these, just accepts any old dumb potato that dies trying to heal at a door while an enemy is hitting him, slaps "Thank You Dark Souls. Guy attempts out of bounds glitch, glitch doesn't go to plan, "Thank You Dark Souls." Guy agros like 6 different and still tries hitting instead of parrying or leaving before his back gets screwed, "Thank You Dark Souls."
The one after is pretty good. Running into a tight room with enemies from both lower and upper burg while trying to chug estus BEHIND the npc you're trying to save is hilarious. And the fact he aggro'd so many enemies and still tried to proceed to open the door is hilarious.
I really hope the elden ring won't be the end of dark souls formula. As much as I love elden ring I think more condensed games without open world still deserve to exist.
ER is fine on your first playthrough but it gets painfully boring on all subsequent ones to the point it kills your motivation to even make a new character at all. The endless copy/pasted bosses and dungeons, unrewarding exploration, and gigantic treks between locations don't help either. Open world just really doesn't work very well at all for a souls game. I think 2 did a much better job of nonlinearity with Majula honestly.
@@DovydasSi because the game is hard enough. There's really no need for map fragments . There's no objectives that tell you where to go which is fine but getting a sense of where you're at is helpful.
@@lynnpabontheelitehero6579 once you enter a new area there is an icon on the map symbolising the map fragment location. That gives you a rough indication of where to go. I think it makes it way more interesting than just knowing the whole map from the start
Some people need to remember: mashing the dodge button will allow you to escape grabbed attack animations sooner. The one at 0:33 seconds is one such instance.
Yeah it's that hard when you died 300 times to a boss and you have to kill over and over the same enemies, i rush everytime in ds3 it works perfectly maybe not on ds1 tho
