Ted is def going to tell rebecca that he wants to go home with his son. The story was written as three seasons so all the arcs will be completed by next episode but they can always write more seasons with ted or do spin-offs with Roy, Keely and Jamie or Nate and Beard staying at Richmond
Yeah, transitioning straight into a song with the lyrics: "When I think of home, I think of a place where there is love overflowing, I wish I was home, I wish I was back there..."
Yeaaa ur right I think, don’t want it to happen but if that’s how they want to tell the story, I’d rather that then drag on and ruin the quality of the show
@@wittyblonde6728 Most of the Whiz doesn't take place in Kansas. It's an adaptation of the Wizard of Oz after all. This song is the final song in the whole show and it takes back when Dorothy has decided to go back to her aunt, back to , yes you are right, Kansas. It's the song she sings while clicking her heels, so the end takes place in Kansas. Interestingly enough the song is one of the Oz references in this episode. There is also the pinball machine in the pub and Over the Rainbow, which is played as part of you got mail, the romcom the team are watching.
Apologies for the lengthy comment…I actually teared up big time this episode. Jamie missing his dad despite how toxic he was throughout his life was heartbreaking. The pain on Ted’s face when his mom said his son misses him just wrecked me. I love that Roy and Keeley stayed and celebrated with Jamie while he was dealing with his injury - - not going through something alone (a big Ted Lasso takeaway). Beard’s story was mind-blowing and explains why he’s so loyal to Ted and so angry at Nate’s betrayal. The Beard/Nate scene was beautiful. I think Nate knows that Ted would forgive him, but he still hadn’t forgiven himself yet for the way he treated Ted. He’s finally admitted that the way it ended was all his own fault. Still, Nate needs to apologize to Ted in person (not in a 60-page letter). Forgiveness (of someone else and of yourself) - - another big Ted Lasso takeaway. Zoreaux/Van Damme made some crazy saves! Roy and Keeley on Jamie’s wall was LMAO! Love Jamie’s mom. Keeley pulling Roy away when he wanted to give Jamie’s mom a hug goodbye was funny considering how Roy acted when Jamie said Roy’s sister is fit. Mae is underrated; she’s always spitting profound wisdom. And how terrifying was Beard’s expression when he appeared at Nate’s door LOL? That lady who had a rough night at the beginning of the episode, was the one bidding on Jamie and Roy in the fundraising gala episode in S1. Ted’s mom saying Ted ate a candybar that was poop was a callback to Ted telling the team not to trust a childhood friend of his who poops in a candy wrapper. Rupert’s previous assistant is Ms Kakes and his new one is Ms. Bread. Did Jamie never bring Keeley home to meet his mom before this? What dirt does Jade have on Derek? What did Rebecca mean by “flipping straights” when telling the story about Freddie Mercury? Is Jamie’s dad in rehab? He seemed to look cleaner and even smiled when Jamie scored. Wonder what Bex and Ms. Kakes wanted from Rebecca? Assuming Richmond wins the Whole F’ing Thing, I expect them to film a video clip of Ted dancing and celebrating with the team like the clip of him celebrating with the college team in S1E1. So glad Ted confronted his mom because his anxiety attacks were coming back. It seems to me that he’s going home as soon as the season ends, although I would love if Michelle brought Henry to London as a surprise to watch the final match together and then they all go back to Kansas together. Phil Dunster (Jamie) should use his scenes in this episode for his Emmy reel. The writing on this show is outstanding. They fit so much into every episode and they walk the line between funny and incredibly touching. I doubt I will ever find another show like this again.
Derek was putting away remnants of cocaine when Nate sat down. Flipping straights means having sex with people who previously considered themselves straight. Jaime’s dad is clearly in rehab. Inspirational quotes on the wall, plus only coffee and juice. He was drunk during his past appearance .
Ok lemme try to cover all this (not complaining, awesome comment!) Yea this new dynamic between Jamie and his dad is interesting, one that I think is important for Jamie to move on and grow. Loved the Beard/Nate stuff and his story was incredible I agree, explains a lot. Mae is an OG true, prob seen a lot working in a pub lol. Jamie's mom was also a highlight for sure. I knew I was supposed to know who that lady was in the beginning haha thank you, and I did think the poop bar story sounded familiar! I like the names of his assistants haha didn't even notice. I suppose Jamie never did, maybe didn't like going home? Who knows what Jade has on him haha, and I think the Freddie Mercury thing was cuz he was gay, so he was good at making straight men love him (I think?) Its most definitely rehab, for some reason I thought he was in like a medical care home or something, but I think you're right. Yea Im curious to see what happens to Ted, would love to see a remake of that video. Phil definitely should he, as well as everyone, has been on their A game this season, they do fit so much in each week its so damn hard to edit! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
@@ItzWilson2 I feel like an idiot. For some reason I kept think that “flipping straights” had to do with card games. I kept wondering if Freddie was a secret card shark
I think Rebbecca meant flipping straight men to gay with his charm. Bex and Ms Kakes probably went to rebecca for advice on rupert cause she lived with him and divorced him., And Jamie didn't bring Keely home cause he didn't think it was serious, and he was a bit of a dick.
I agree with most of your comments but Phil Dunster's acting was a bit unsubbtle and has been far better in other episodes. I think the uncertainty about continuing the show has caused a lot of late changes to try and tie things up (pun wasn't intended) and it's kinda feeling like a rushed ending.
Additional thoughts: shout out to you for connecting that tunnel to Harry Potter! Seeing how Jamie’s mother is, I see why Jamie loves and wants Keeley in his life.
Honestly, i’ve been refreshing and refreshing youtube waiting for you two. There are others i enjoy but either they talk over important lines and/or just miss things entirely. You guys get it!
If I had to make a bet I'd say Jamie's father was in rehab. This is a show about second chances and growth and him making the effort to be better just seems right.
I agree it's rehab, but I'd guess Jamie's father got in trouble with the law and had the option of rehab or jail... he might make the effort to be better, after he's in rehab, but I doubt he'd seek it out voluntarily.
@@michaelpeters364 you never know. Anyone can choose to change. Jamie was a jerk to his own team, Nate was a next level cunt, hell Beard was a fucking addict. It took help for them to come to terms with needing to change, but they chose to willingly improve themselves in the end.
Mae was quoting a poem by Phillip Larkin. Jamie’s dad is in rehab! Beard and Nate scene did me in. Apparently whatever Ted says to Rebecca, Nate arrives back at Richmond 😊
Oh cool I didn’t know that! Yea I realized he’s in rehab after I watched it haha whoops. Beard and Nate scene is one of the top moments of the show for me, excited to see Nate the Great back at Richmond!
Emo Jamie is maybe the wierdest thing I ever saw in this series. There are so many 'Wizard of Oz' references - as a native Kansan, I'm used to hearing them all the time. It fits though - about a character from kansas who only wants to find her way back home. Such a brilliant episode!
@@hcroussetteThe spinning how at the game machine and the song in the credits is from “The Wiz”. Also the bread that Teds mom made had sunflower seeds which is from the state flower. There might be more but that’s what I remember.
@@hcroussette also watching 'you've got mail" which has a number of wizard of Oz references itself including the cover of "somewhere over the rainbow" playing during the scene we see the team watching.
If people can accept Jamie's turn around and acceptance by the team in the span of 2 episodes in season 2, then Nathan given a second chance shouldn't be weird tbh. Forgiveness has always been such a big theme in this show (look at Ted forgiving Rebecca for all the shit that she did! . Nathan is not an inherently bad person and he has seen the errors of his ways (he wanted to reach out to Ted before he and Jade got together as well!), so why are people being so extra vile about him? Great episode overall and great reaction. It's so exciting to have to go through ads on your channel now, Yay! 😁
No clue! Forgiveness is a huge part of this show like you said, and people deserve a second chance! I’m sorry about the ads idek if I’m doing them right 😂 thank you for watching looking forward to yours!
I have definitely noticed that attitude. Hmm... 🤔 if I had to guess... I think _maybe_ the reason people are digging in their heels about the return of Nate more than the return of Jamie is because Jamie- much as we love him- started out as a shithead. We spend season 2 watching him decide '...I don't like being this person' and then learn how NOT to be a shithead. People weren't expecting as much from him, so when he went beyond their expectations they were pleasantly surprised and were like 'Okay, maybe I can root for you after all'. Meanwhile Nate _didn't_ start off as a shithead. People already liked him. Him turning away from the team (and Ted) in the way that he did I think came as more of a shock than it would have coming from somebody who hadn't been a friend from the beginning. It's like... for whatever weird reason, people seem to have an easier time accepting antagonist-turned-friend than they do friend-turned-antagonist-turned-friend.
My prediction after the 1st episode was that in the 11th episode, instead of Rebecca revealing something to Ted, it would be Ted telling her that he is leaving. Because of course that's what he's gonna say. I'm just surprised that they kept that part for the last episode.
@@ItzWilson2 rewatch the scene in 2x11 where Rebecca tells Ted about her and Sam. Ted even says that he is looking forward to hear her other truth bomb next year around the same time.
It occurred to me after Beard explained about his history with Ted that I now understand why she felt threatened by his relationship with Ted. He is clearly devoted to Ted to the point that he moves anywhere Ted goes. He holds Ted in the highest regard above everyone. She must wonder if she will ever be able to that important to him. It’s probably why she plays all those crazy games with him.
Amazing commentary…..love your, “Let’s go!” The enthusiasm is inspiring. You show honest emotions and it is endearing. The show touched a cord with me and your deep responses enhance my viewing. Keep being authentic and learning from this moving and beautifully written and acted show. As a parent who tried hard I know we do fuck up our kids. The forgiveness towards parents is well shown with Jamie and Ted. May we all stop judging and learn more compassion. I really wish you well and encourage you to keep up you amazing responses to shows. I like the real friendship you two share…. built over many important moments no doubt. Be well and keep your wisdom and passion going.
Thank you so much! Wonderful comment, this show does so many things right and really opens you up to aspects of life you don’t even know about. Thank you for watching! :)
The reactions of Ted and Beard after Ted spoke with Pep after the game made me laugh so hard. Especially Beard. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.! And .Jamie’s moment with Pep was really lovely. I’m sure that Pep told Jamie how proud he was of him.
I think we're supposed to read between the lines and conclude that cleaner looking version of Jamie's Dad means he's in rehab. Remember the core message of this show... Also, reading between the lines, it seems likely that the scene with Rebecca, Bex and Rupert's former assistant is how Rebecca gets a baby. Rupert knocks up the assistant, but won't leave Bex (or maybe even fires and dumps the assistant because of it). The Assistant goes to Bex, and I'm betting Bex leaves Rupert. The Assistant can't raise the baby, and because Rupert has revealed to Bex his using his baby to wound Rebecca, Bex guesses Rebecca might consider a Private adoption.
Yea for some reason I thought it was like a hospice care and he was moving weird, can’t get everything right lol and yea could see a baby thing go down
I think you’re right. I can definitely see this as the story. Maybe Rupert even suggested to Ms Kakes that Rebecca might be interested in adopting considering how traumatized Rebecca looked when he told her Bex was pregnant. But damn Rebecca raising Rupert’s baby would keep him in her orbit forever.
This episode was just amazing but it also has some really cool things. 1) First of all the Pep cameo was mind blowing!! 2) Sam Ryder, a british singer wrote an original song with the composer of the show and that's the song playing over ted finding the note from his mom with the sunflower bread. The lyrics are BEAUTIFUL. It is also featuring Brian May of Queen which is crazy. They also played Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen and had the joke about Freddie Mercury. 3) The song playing over the credits is "Home" from The Wiz. It's a cover by Brandi Carlile who also recorded it specifically for the show. And Ed Sheeran wrote an original song for the show and I believe it's gonna be featured at the finale episode.
Oh cool! The music in this show isn’t talked about enough i feel, they always have perfect songs for certain story beats where that’s an original song or not, I gotta listen to the Sam Ryder one again
His truth bomb is def going to be that he’s going home. All the Wizard of Oz references, especially in this episode, it’s all about going home. To Kansas.
I almost screamed when you recognized the area where the dementors attacked Harry Potter lmao. It was the first thing I said when I saw it too 😂😂 down to the flickering lights and everything lmao
I mean, Beard showing up at Nate’s house is even better than I wished. I thought it would be Ted who’ll reach out or Nate apologizing first but this Beard backstory and passing forward Ted’s kindness was the highest kind of action. I love it! I love every bit of this episode but I think the Beard-Nate scene is the highlight for me. ‘Thank you’ - ‘fuck you’ is the new ‘I love you but..’. I think Ted will let Rebecca know that it will be his last season, he leave after the season ends. I think Beard will be head coach, my hint for me is when he told Nate “I’m giving you a job” and Roy and Nate will be assistant coaches. I think Beard is staying because of Jane.
Ahhh some nice predictions there with Beard I could see that, his scene with Nate is the epitome of “I didn’t know I needed that.” It was amazing, and makes so much sense for Beard’s character
This episode just made me tear up multiple times. Then it's just oscillating between crying and laughing as the show went on. These last several episodes just kept hitting right in my feels.
Right? It’s the thing this show has hit perfectly, the balance of incredible comedy and drama in the same show, just a testament to the actors, writers, directors, etc.
I'm 95% sure the truth bomb is him quitting when the season is done and going back to Kansas. And honestly, I kinda hate it. Because Ted made so much progress throughout the show and learned to put himself first, being able to tell others when he has a bone to pick with them. Richmond has become his home, he has friends, collagues that love him in Richmond. He has a support system here. You can see him just knowing everyone in Richmond in the opening scene of this very episode. And now him once again putting his own needs and desires aside to be with his son doesn't feel like the right conclusion to his story. Like, except for his son, it doesn't seem like he has anyone or anything back in the US. He is the manager of a team sitting at the second place in premiere league table. He has MONEY. I feel like there are other solutions to the co-parenting than him just quitting and going back. I love the show and I know one of the things the show always reminds us is that life is hard and you don't always get what you want. And I'll accept whatever the writers give us because, as Sudeikis said again and again, they planned the ending from the start. But man, the show ending in itself is devastating, I can't also be extra sad about him leaving Richmond. In conclusion I'm overall pretty sad and it's all Jason Sudeikis' fault!! 😅 Anyways great reaction as always. And I absolutely agree with you on waiting for the finale reaction. It might be the last Ted Lasso ep ever, so it's gotta be both of you!
Thanks so much for watching, and yea I agree w u it doesn’t feel totally right w me I guess, but idk if that’s from a story or personal POV haha. Either way I’ll like it, and I’m glad they get to tell they story they wanted to all along. Gonna be a good one this week!
At taste of Athens, when Derek is asking the patrons who Nate was one of the patrons says “you’re the Wonder Kid” and for the first time Nate says ” I said wonder” kid instead of claiming he said wunderkind. I thought that was a nice moment.
In season two when Ted started therapy with Dr. Sharon, he said she would probably blame his parents. Ted’s mom said the same thing and sadly, both of Ted‘s parents did F him up. The poem that may recited in this episode was perfect for this episode, even though it was pretty grim.
Your face when they showed the Etihad 😂😂. The game scenes were a little bit wonky but I'll let it slide because I love Ted Lasso. Van Damme is a beast though. Did EJ go on vacation early like Arsenal did??
It very well could be. However, there is also the consideration that no one has yet to tell Rebecca that Nate has been hired back (and as far as we know, no one has consulted her on her opinion re: Nate's return). We'll just have to wait and see!
Teds mom’s sudden appearance, totally threw him, and his humor chip did not work. “ that makes no sense. Babies can’t talk and they have no concept of empathy.“. So funny!
My prediction is that Ted leaves and Roy is made head coach. He is the most natural to fill Ted's role as someone who leads because he understands what the team is going through and his recent press conference appearances are an indication that he is becoming more like Ted. Nate will be the strategy coach and realize that is how he can best contribute. Not sure what will happen with Beard. I also suspect that Nate will go to Ted's apartment to apologize and see the photo that he gave him.
Yea I could totally see Roy taking over, would fit his character and the development he’s had this szn. Yea the picture and the Lego set! Make it happen show!
Jamie will visit his dad in Rehab. Ted will leave. Beard will stay with his axes. Rupert is dying and Rebecca will adopt their daughter, maybe? Unless Boat Man shows up. Either way Rebecca still needs to be a mother per her mums psycho.
Why would Rebecca adopt the baby? I've seen this prediction before and I just don't get it. Do people think Bex is unfit to raise her daughter by herself? There's no reason why she would want to give up her daughter.
Did you consider getting the Richmond kit from Nike? I’m such a fan that I got one for myself and will be wearing it while watching the finale next week. 😅
I didn't pick up on the Ted's 'Thank you - F**K you' was from Jamie when I first watched the episode. It makes so much more sense on why the conversation happened the way it did. I've been waiting for the back story of Beard/Ted it did not disappoint it really speaks to Beard's unwavering loyalty. I'm glad Ted was able to remind Beard about second chances.
It’s just so well written and was a great outline for the scene to happen the way it did, and the Beard backstory I wasn’t really expecting at all but loved every second, it really does explain why he’s so loyal
Maybe Ted's truthbomb is that Nate is coming back. Also, both Roy and Keeley look like they're in 1980s in the posters. Roy's hairstyle and Keeley's pants and tights. Clearly a Gen X joke, since Ted is Gen X and lots of the jokes in the show are for older generations
Could be yea, the overwhelming verdict is that he’s leaving, which makes sense but I just don’t want to believe it haha yea the posters were amazing haha
I just rewatched the episode with a friend who was watching for the first time. Was the girl on the date in the restaurant (when Nate was working) the same girl that was brought as a date to Higgins’ house during the Christmas episode?
I think the truth bomb from Ted is he’s going back home to the U.S. to be with his son at the end of the season. Nate will become the next coach. Although I think this is the end for Ted Lasso, I could see them doing a spin-off show with other characters
Yea that’s probably the case, I’m just not gonna believe it till I see it 😂 could totally see a spin-off I’d say the other characters in this show could carry one
At first I thought it a bit odd that the players would forgive Nate so easily but it makes sense that Higgins put them up to it. Higgins was the only one who voted to bring Jamie back when Ted wanted to do it in S2. He also asked Rebecca about firing Ted when the team was on a losing streak after Zava left. Higgins only cares about making the team a winning team, not personal drama.
be reasonable i think it made sense after Ted tore up the 'believe' sign completely and gave the speech about it. Isaac and Colin don't have that much to forgive Nate, they don't even know that Nate betrayed Ted to Trent Crimm. Some other players have no issues with Nate at all. the part that is baffling is how much do Higgins, Rebecca or even Roy actually know about Nate. do they know everything Ted and Beard know? it seems to me that the players do not know it at all. Higgins and Roy should be able to figure it out, but it was never shown or hinted that they did and Rebecca - i have no idea what she knows about Nate.
@@celinelia8127 good point! I totally forgot that only Beard Ted and Trent knew for sure that Nate told Trent about Ted. On the other hand everyone forgave Trent for writing the article at all. Makes sense why Beard is the one person who hated Nate so intensely - it was the betrayal of the secret not the tearing of the Believe sign. And while Roy and Higgins might suspect it was Nate who leaked it, they probably don’t know for sure.
I'd love Richmond to win the Prem in the final episode, but I have a feeling they won't. Winning or losing is not what Ted Lasso's been about. More that he's taken a group of individuals and turned them into a family 🙂
I unfortunately think Ted will go back to Kansas, which I think would be good for his son but bad for him mentally. I would hope that Ted gets a position as a soccer coach in the US, but not in Kansas specifically. Beard will go with Ted and Roy will become head coach with Nate as the strategy/assistant coach. Bex is going to divorce Rupert and the assistant is probably pregnant which she will give up for adoption to Rebecca, thus fulfilling the last of the psychic's predictions. Roy, Jaime and Keely live happily ever after.
I don't think she is pregnant, I think there is some serious sexual harassment and/or assault situation that happened. My guess it is what Nate witnessed and led him to quit.
@@celinelia8127 I don't remember if she did or not. It is very heavily implied that Keely and Roy slept together by the end of 3x10. Not that I think that the show will do so but Keely/Jaime and Keely/Roy both make sense and the best dynamic is Keely/Jaime/Roy they all have two hands after all. 😉☺😘
Implausible that Richmond would win premier league. They had 6 draws and 5 losses before they started their 16 win streak with 4 unknown outcomes before the streak. Even assuming 3 wins and a draw, that’s 85 points. Not enough to win pl.
I'm happy with the scene, but Nate's arch has been so off. He was mean for about an episode, figured out he was wrong, did zero work to get Jade (he was the same insecure guy he always was, no growth, she just saw him with another women and was like "ok, I'm in love now" and then suffered no consequences for any of his actions,. and little growth beyond just realizing Rupert was a prick, something he was already well aware of when he took the Job. Just not much to his story. The scene itself with Beard was great, but that's because I know more about Beard, not because I care about nate's arch this season at all. Nate's arch was a rare miss from this show. it was like they turned him "evil" then didn't know how to make him not loveable the entire time.
Yea I get that, some parts felt like a jump last season, but this season has really fleshed it out in a way I enjoyed, happy Nate is taking the full blame for it
