Sharon, thank you for your powerful testimony of faith in the Lord. Thank you to everyone for the joy you've brought us and the way you've inspired us in our own lives. You'll never be forgotten!!! Proud to be a Hawkeye!!!
What strikes me most about this team is the how rare it is to have everything click at the same time and how each of these young women are able to relish the moment with such joy and unselfishness and remain so level headed about what they've been able to achieve. As an (displaced) Iowan, I couldn't be prouder of the black and gold!
Molly D. became an icon to Gus Johnson and a lot of fans. She said she was a "minor part" of this team, but there is zero truth to that. Everyone who loves this team loves her ability to create and ignite and her cajones to go to the basket giving up almost a foot to everyone in the lane. The team wasn't the same when she got sick, and we're crushed that we probably won't see her again in the uniform. And shout out to Sharon Goodman who, like Molly, maybe doesn't have the athletic blessings of a D-1 star but who worked and persevered and maxed out her abilities to make some starts for a Top Five program, all while dealing with loss that no high school kid should have to endure.
Gabby, Kate, Caitlin and the rest incredibly talented players that should all go on to play pro but even more amazing women it is such a pleasure being a fan and watching all of you. Thank you
These ladies are so talented and so exciting to watch play basketball but what I am most impressed by when I see this video is such grateful and genuine human beings! You can see that special bond they have with one another and it is inspiring. God bless you all in your future endeavors!! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤
Great job Iowa ladies! Kudos to Molly Davis for acknowledging her parents. CC acknowledged her teammates the right way. Class act. (Sydney Affolter went to my HS, so always root for her!)
I love you ALL!!!! You have been such a beacon of bright light for all of the Hawkeye Nation that spreads around the globe. You are so amazing and it's been a privilege to watch you from our television every game.
I knew I'd regret not making a game at the beginning of the season when Iowa played in Florida! I live in central Florida. I'm a lifelong Gator fan but Iowa womens basketball has also made me a fan since last year. CC had it right in an interview when she acknowledged that the Iowa women's basketball brand & fanbase goes well beyond the borders of the state of Iowa. They got me to tune back into the womens game! I don't mind if Iowa wins the NC this year. I'm pulling for them!
These ladies are each amazing in their unique way. Each one of them brings so much to the team and the game that they will not be forgotten any time soon, if ever. The thing that sticks out to me is how they each mention the culture that the coaches instill in the team. Each member is valued and respected no matter how many or few minutes they may get on the floor. I loved when Sharon didn't want to go into the game because she wanted Hannah to get 50. Each of them are a total class act and it's been such a pleasure to watch them. I am sooo thankful I was able to take the family to see them when they played VT in Charlotte earlier in the season.
MS. GABBIE MARSHALL =================== THE LIGHT FROM YOUR EYES, WERE ALWAYS THE FLASHING LIGHT TO GUIDE YOUR TEAMMATES DURING THE JOURNEY. YOUR IMPECCABLE SCORING, IN MANY OCASION WERE THE SAVING OF THE DAY, YOUR DANCING AFTER SCORING "THE THREE" AND YOUR CONTAGIOUS HAPPINESS WERE THE INSPIRATION, ALL THE WAY... WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU GABBIE... =============================== WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU, FOR GOD SAKE...WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU!
To all of the players and coaches, I have treasured the opportunity to witness what can be accomplished with teamwork and love, a great lesson for all of us.
From IU Bob Knight & Butler & Brad Stevens they are gone but I’ve found a team in women’s basketball Iowa . I must admit Caitlin caught my attention . But the more I watched it reminded me that team basketball is back plus good coaching Lisa Bluder . Let’s win the whole NCAA 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Iowa ladies basketball team ! All of you ladies are very special and made this basketball team very special of how you play together and show the bonding on the basketball court!! You stop and think about how many schools that want to be like this school and never get to this level so yes be very proud of how far you ladies have come for it’s a long hard road to the top !! Congratulations and keep up the Spirit of being this special team !! Amen !!🙏 !!!❤
I'm glad these ladies appreciate the opportunities they've had cuz there are a lot of us who had none of these things. I only got to play basketball in high school due to these colleges not having programs for women. Growing up, there were no leagues to play basketball in...esp. not for girls. There was no place I could go and shoot on my own ever...not 'til I graduated and moved to neighboring town, Le Mars, where I would go shoot on my own at Westmar...AND play with and against men,, which I did for the next 40+ years wherever I lived, and THAT'S how I got to be good. You HAVE to play against someone better than you to improve (which my husband found out, too, when he played ping pong against me, ha). I got to play against the Hawkeye senior MEN in Remsen the year they toured after the season and came to Remsen. It was a bad time for me cuz I was running myself ragged, going to WITCC in Sioux City, commuting 2 hrs per day and working...and was a bit ill at the time...but boy, I still sure enjoyed it, and those Hawkeyes were lucky I wasn't in my top form at the time, ha! Still did okay, tho, esp. all things considered. That was the year Acie Earl was drafted by the Boston Celtics.
Heck of a run, ladies. I'm in Virginia and just started watching these young women and so glad I did as it was really fun. Sorry y'all lost, but God bless and God speed.
These young ladies seem to be real genuine, and I hope to see Kate at the next level because she's a dawg on the court. Wnba needs some new and great players seriously. I've watching women's basket since the 80s my cousin won a national championship with Purdue, and also played in the wnba with the LA sparks ,so I know what am talking about.
Kate Marshall is Pro- ready. I really hope the GMs of the WNBA give her the opportunity to play in the league. Kate's a dog on both ends of the court 😊
This just in: The owner of the Indiana Fever has been taken to an area hospital for treatment and observation. “the individual was found lying on the floor on the executive office laughing and rubbing hands together vigorously”
What the hell is wrong with me.....I was tearing up the entire time. Obviously Caitlin is the center of the wheel that makes everything go but damn those other players from Sharon, Molly, Hannah, Gabbie, Sydney, are so easy to root for. I hope they win it all!!
For christ sake these aren't the only people out there. What about Uconn and all those back to back titles and unbeaten streak.Just because you have a player taking 90 shots a game and scoring points doesn't make this team the end all be all. Just stop.
I have enjoyed watching you all over the past two years. Each of you were the perfect piece to the overall puzzle. Molly D., what an impression you made this past year. Time and again, when a 3 was needed or a floater down the lane, you were money. Prayers and healing as you rehab your knee. Kate, Gabbie, Sharon, and Caitlin, your leadership and abilities will be felt for years. You always want to leave something better than when you started. You have passed this program on as one of the top programs in the country, raising the level of competition for the Big 10 and all of basketball. To Coach Bluder, Coach Jensen, and the entire coaching staff, leadership starts with the leaders. This staff has been amazing to watch, especially as you are pulled in more directions than Gumby. Congrats seniors and know you will be successful in all your future endeavors. It’s easy to look down from the top of the mountain, it’s really hard to get there.
Two weeks ago, I didn't know a thing about this team. Then I had to spend a few days home from work because I was sick. While cruising YT watching history and astronomy videos, I saw an Iowa WBB video pop up in the suggestions, so I took a look. Then I watched another one and another one, and then a bunch more. To all you ladies on the team: I saw your joy on the court, your teamwork, your skills, your obvious love for your teammates, coaches, families, your university, your community, etc. You appear to be genuinely nice people and good students. You have gained a new fan from California and I hope you win it all this year.
You’ve converted this old blind man to a woman’s basketball fan. I am proud to say that I am in the national beat baseball Hall of Fame and no competition and understand the value of teammates, and I felt that listening to you guys
Did anyone give Coach Lisa credit for shutting down Cotie McMahon? 33 points previous game, 10 yesterday, After the loss Lisa took the blame for not adjusting their defence to deny McMahon the ball. I'd say she succeeded admirably!
@sharongoodman , I’m so thankful for sisters in Christ such as you , What a walking testimony God has used you for His Glory, To the other ladies, I can’t say enough good things about you, Thank you all Psalms 3:3 John 3:16
MS. SHARON GOODMAN ==================== "I JUST WANT TO GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO MY FATHER IN HEAVEN" FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR GIVING ME THE HEALTH... WHAT A TRUE LADY AND A GRATEFUL HEART AND MIND TO THE HIGHEST CREATOR OF EVERYTHING, WHICH IS GOD THE FATHER OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS AND HUMANKIND. PRAISE THE LORD AND GLORY TO THE LORD! THANK YOU, FATHER! MAY YOU HAVE MERCY ON ME TOO.
I wish this team and season wouldn't have to come to an end. I just know that whenever it does, I will feel the same way I did the day my beloved dog died.
To Molly Davis, I am sad she didn't get pick up, but you know whether we like it or not, God has a calling for all of us, and Molly being a great person will land on a great spot, where she will be over joyed, she is a great all around talent, I will support and follow her great future, she will either land on an Australian team, or a European team. But in time, she will go on be an assistant coach, to becoming a DI head coach, of one of the top 20 university teams, moving on the a WNBA as a head coach. This is where life will take her. Follow your dream Molly, you are greatness!!
The uplifting spirit, camaraderie, bonds, relationship, family spirit and the mutual valuing of each other of this Iowa team, are what makes America great, and not the selfish, narcissistic maga picture that some people paint should be America.
MS. MOLLY DAVIS =============== A WARRIOR PRINCESS AND A TRUE YOUNG LADY. WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU AND TO MISS YOUR GRACE, ALSO THE DEFIANT PERFORMANCE AGAINST ADVERSARIES THAT WERE PHYSICALLY STRONGER THAN YOU, BUT YOU WERE AGILE AND FASTER LIKE A LIONESS. I HAVE ADMIRED YOU FROM THE MINUTE ONE I SAW YOU! GODSPEED MOLLY...GODSPEED!
