The song is a remake for a hip hop song by a black group in the 90’s the songs represents how under ground rappers and dancers lived off chicken noodle soup all the time!

Yeah the song was originally by Webstar and Young B featuring Voice of Harlem but it wasn't quite the 90's, it came out in 2006. J-hope and Bighit were amazing as they reportedly credited the original black artists by paying them over $2million to use the song while his cover was released for free :) This is so important in the current climate and set an excellent standard, especially in the "Kpop" industry (i'm aware this is hip hop though) where 1) it is super rare to see any people of colour in music videos and 2) unfortunately there does tend to be instances of black cultural appropriation in the industry so the fact that Jhope paid homage to the original song, artists, and hip hop culture in general is amazing!

I don't know if you know but this is a remake of a old school song and dance. This was one of the first songs he danced to as a child, it has a special place in his heart so he made this remake of it and changed the dance a bit.

AND SPRITE yeah probably, but you have to agree that amount was more than generous considering he intended to release it for free. And the original artist was so very grateful too. not sure how much that compares to her earnings for the original but she tweeted something like she made this trivial song decades ago about eating and now she’s all set to be eating for life or something like that

I remember dancing to this song back in the early 2000's and thought how cool that it's the song that got Jhope into dancing. Chicken Noodle Soup is actually the first (or one of the first) songs that got our Hobi bean into dancing 10 years ago, and to show his appreciation he paid all the royalties (all 2.7 million USD) to Biana Bonne the original artist of the song. Could he be any kinder? And Rach could you get any prettier or sweeter, you just radiate happiness. 🥰 BORAHAE💜💜💜

There are so many layers to this when you really think about it. The song was big in New York and they filmed this in California. Back in the day there were the east coast / west coast wars so I think that's sort of a nod to that. I think it shows that we're not much different. Mexican, Korean, American, east coast, west coast...... who cares? Plus them crediting all the dancers at the end is super dope.

This mv is where I stan Jhope so much. Every main dancer of the group is my Bias. Jhope from BTS, Lisa from BP, Momo from Twice 💜. I just want to learn how they dance so hard 💜. Hi Rachel! This is my first time to comment to your reaction but i love them always. (i'm shy). So chicken noodle soup is a remake to Chicken Noodle Soup by Webstar, Young B. feat. AG aka The Voice of Harlem. According to Hobi, this was the song he started dancing to when he was young so he really wanted to remake it. It was supposed to be part of his mixtape but ended up being a single. Bianca or Young B (the original singer) was really happy and supportive when this came out.

J-Hope mentioned in an interview about how the original song “Chicken Noodle Soup” by Webstar and Young B is a track that he danced to when he was first learning to dance. He paid royalties to the orignal producer/artists USD$2.7 million to remake the song. :D
