Nintendo games used to come out on Fridays but they moved them to Thursdays. For example: The Zelda game releases September 26th, which is on a Thursday. That's Nintendo's big business change: moving their releases from Friday to Thursday. I connected the dots when I heard Super Mario Party Jamboree's release date: October 17th, 7 days before my birthday, which happens to fall on a Thursday.
Fridays were better it made sense. Get off eirk or out of school get the game or pre install it beforehand and play it over the weekend. Now the other devs releasing games on Tuesday makes no goddamn sense to me.
@@spartanq7781 Thursdays are better for Nintendo, retailers can get more containers/trailers on Wednesday and Thursday than they can on Friday, making it a smaller window for games to be leaked. Also why they aren’t offering pre-orders for most of the First Party games. So the games can show up on Wednesday or even Thursday morning and be put out and have as little time as possible for someone to grab a copy and leak it online.
Please stop calling Nintendo's next system "Switch 2". They have never called it that, and I'll be flabbergasted if they do. Releasing a system that's just like the previous one but a version up would be extremely uncharacteristic of Nintendo.
Media generally is shifting to releasing on Thursdays (not sure why) but both films and music also now sees Thursday releases as more common. Being in a signed band this has been the scheduled weekdays we've been releasing music and it's not exclusive to us either.
i dont know about other countries, but atleast in Australia, thursdays are the day of the week where stores in shopping centres and malls are open for the longest, not closing until like 9pm. if this is a trend in other countries around the world this might be the reason why rhey switxhed from thursday's to fridays since more people go shopping on those days since they close way later
from my understanding a debate between gaming devs to nintendo was they are not going to keep their games held back for switch 2 since the switch 2 is said to port back dated switch games with enhanced versions they would just release the games they have completed for switch and when switch 2 releases their games still playable not all games obviously since pokemon keeping gen 10 for switch 2 confirmed by pokemon
I feel like Switch 2 will probably be backwards compatible with Switch. So even if people decide to put their switch to the wayside after switch 2 comes out they could still play switch games. Nintendo’s usually pretty good about that besides the switch because there’s just no way they could make it compatible with the last gen console or handheld.
@@ActualAero I think they are just following the Japan standard of not impacting the job industry by releasing major games on fridays or weekends. Rumor had it that "absenteeism" was so bad that the Japanese government passed a law requiring that Dragon Quest games be released on a Saturday in order to avoid people skipping work or school. That’s only partially true. Japan never passed a law, but Square Enix did enact an internal rule that required that all Dragon Quest games be released on a Saturday in order to avoid everyone shirking their responsibilities to play a video game.
Honestly I’m kinda glad that games are coming out on Thursday instead of Friday it’s solely based on my normal work schedule if I’m being honest but like a Thursday gives me that Thursday to get the game then on Friday I’ll already have it for the weekend. It doesn’t make a gigantic difference but I think it’s a good decision at least for me I’m happy about it.
I mean for me Friday release realistically meant I was getting the game monday if I ordered online delivery and it was delayed at all. Or not getting the game until latish Saturday if I Hunt it down in person unless I was lucky enough for the Walmart on my way home from work to not be sold out already.
I'm very happy with this decision. We don't get mail on the weekends usually here in Norway, so if you don't get the game on Friday you gotta wait until Monday. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of other countries as well.
I think it's good news that the game releases will be moved from Friday to Thursday. Friday's biggest problem has been that in my home country mail and parcels are not delivered on weekends, which is why the game released on Friday was only received on Tuesday of the following week if the physical game was purchased online.
I think nintendo moved to Thursdays because nintendo wants screen time...if we get the games a day early..l it's really likely we will spend the following day playing nintendo? And throughout the weekend?.
A reason could be shipping issues. I know with Splatoon 3 none of the Target stores in the Twin Cities received any copies until 4 days later. I ended up ordering it from Best Buy and picking it up later on release day.
Honestly if nintendo releases a switch 2 anytime soon at the rumored power level then any next gen system from the competition will become obsolete since they're still prioritizing ps4 and xone now and if the switch 2 is just as popular as the first one then that's the only new console you would need
