ATTENTION! : Please consider buying and playing this game for yourself before you watch this video. This game is an experience I believe you would enjoy more having for yourself rather than watch me play it. With that being said, this is "That Dragon, Cancer." A true story about a brave boy named Joel. I was told a little bit about this game but didn't watch the trailer until recently. The moment I watched this trailer I knew this was a game I had to play. I pondered to myself over and over again weather or not I should play this privately or in a video for you all to watch. In the end I decided to record it but play it how I normally would if I were alone. I apologize for the lack of commentary but I was so invested into this game.
WARNING THIS NEXT PART IS ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE VIDEO:
At the end of the game I shared a story about something that happened to me in my early life. When I cry, I have a very hard time putting words together so let me try and tell that story again but more clearer.
When I was around the age of 5 I had several lymph nodes that were in my neck. The more I got sick the larger they would grow. One in particular got to the size of an american half dollar. I had undergo surgery in order to remove that one as well as several minor ones in case they happened to be cancerous. Granted I was 5 at the time so I had NO idea what was going on but what I realize now as an adult is not what I had to go through, but what my family did. I couldn't imagine finding out if my 5 year old child had cancer so I want to thank my mother and father for taking care of me at such a young age. Thankfully when the tests came back they were all negative so I'm sure my parents were very relieved about that. I still have a lymph node in my neck that is just kinda chillin'. If you ever see me mess with my neck in a video, then now you know what I'm doin' haha. Though I may not have dealt with cancer up close and personal as some others might have, and I can only imagine what that is like. It's scary, and my thoughts and prayers are with anyone dealing with such a horrible thing.

My grandmother died of cancer. There description of cancer is spot on. It's a cold, evil, dragon. My grandmother died of breast cancer when I was in 3rd grade, that was 4 years ago. I miss her so much when I watched this I cried so much I'm not joking, this was so relatable to me and it's just so sad and true. My friends friend died of cancer, she won't tell me what kind but at least we have another thing to relate to besides anime and stuff heh....

I cried when I saw Jack play this and I got really teary eyed when I watched max play. I hope we kill cancer. I hope we eradicate it from the earth. Anyone who is battling cancer: kick cancers butt. Fight on. Even when things seem hopeless, fight on. Idk what it's like having someone in your family have cancer, but I get that it feels horrible. I really admire those who keep fighting cancer to their last breath. They have spirit. They know God is with them. They know everyone who loves them supports them. I admire that. If u r battling cancer, keep on fighting.

my mom had cancer when I was nine. my brother was only 5. I didn't really understand what happened; I didn't think much about it. my mom didn't make a big deal out of it all she said was she was going to go to treatment and the cancer will go away. she ended up fine and this was about 4 years ago. my mom was going through a tough time already with her divorce with my father then she got cancer. but she's fine now, doing better than ever and hasn't gotten cancer since. like I said I didn't really know what was going on and I didnt think much about it, but looking back on it now, now knowing that that sickness could've killed my own mother, the one who brought me into this world, and the one who raised me along side my father, tears my heart up and I'm just so glad God healed her. m mom means so much to me and if I lost her, I wouldn't know what to do. I'm just so glad she's alive. thank u Lord for saving her. He, the Lord, is the reason miracles happen and it's saddening that some people don't get that miracle that I got. I'm so glad I got a miracle. thank u God for saving my mother.

Max you didn't need to apologize even once, even though you are supposed to create content, this was not that kind of game. i have to say this but unfortunately i had to go through this 8 times. a few of my family members died and a few of my friends that were just barely in their teens....this was a complete trigger to me...cancer is something i wish no one has to go through...and i have sympathy for everyone that has or are going through it.....

This game, has taught me so much. My aunt had cancer. She fought it off for months. My dog had cancer.. She died a few weeks ago... It really hurts for the person, and the family. It really does. Max, thank you for showing this game. It really, really, showed me something. I cried, I understand it. This taught me so much, it is scary, Max.. You do not have to be sorry for crying, I understand. I understand the people that go through this. Its hard to live with. I will try to get the money to play this game, and experience it for myself. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to lose someone you love from cancer. My aunt had cancer and fought it for a long time too but she died 2 years ago a day before my 13th birthday. I hated seeing her like that but her suffering is over and she's in a better place now.

Max it's ok if you cry don't apologize for your emotions i cried to and anyone else how watched or played the game them selves did probably as well I understand the title of the game know cancer is a dragon some people are able to slay there Dragon others get slayed and some can't get rid of it. It just circles them and makes them suffer hurting the town which is your family and everyone who cares for you Joel was real person who had the dragon named cancer in there life they couldn't slay the dragon and many others couldn't as well and the town was in fear that the brave knight Joel would slay it or not but just because he didn't slay it didn't make him brave enough to try to over come it dragon is very powerful and strong but just because Joel wasn't able to didn't make the town not strong enough to stand by him in his time of need when Joel needed them they did there best to help others to this day are fighting that dragon and anyone who has over come it I am happy for you and the families and people who couldn't over come it you are strong enough to Move on for there sake of them so I give my hope for a of you that and can and hope that dragon cancer will bee slayed

This game makes me cry no matter how many times I watch it. Having a lot of family who’s had cancer, losing two grandparents cancer, too many cousins, and distant relatives, some got better while some didn’t. So, it’s always been a close to home game. This game helps me remember my grandma who I lost when I was a toddler to lung cancer. My older sis had stories upon stories about how she was the sweetest and most determined person she ever knew. This game brings back memories of me sitting in her home hospital bed. We’d ate butterscotch candies, popcorn, watch cheesy movies, make paper hats and boats. She spoiled me rotten from the moment I came home, but she always had a smile with me, even when I accidentally got her folded up in her home set hospital bed. (we got a special one for our home when my grandparents moved in with my family) After we lost her, the house felt empty, but then my sister came, and we had a bitter sweet feeling in the house. My little sis looks so much like her, and like the mom, I have faith that my grandma waited as long as she could so that my grandpa wouldn’t feel like he lost everything when she passed. This game truly means the world to me and a lot of my cousins who have seen the pain of loved ones go through a battle against cancer.

Growing up as a kid, I have had an autoimmune disorder called CIDP. If it’s where my nerves attack my body. When I was 18 months old, I stopped breathing. I was so weak that I couldn’t even cough up mucus. My dad did CPR and I started breathing again. A hospital helicopter came and picked me up form my house to USA hospital in Mobile, Alabama. I was diagnosed with CIDP and given a port where I get IVs. I also had two spine conditions called kyphosis and scoliosis, where my I have a hunch. I went to St. Louis where I had surgery and my doctor put in metal rods to keep it straight. I have had over 10 surgeries nationwide. I have learned that I will never be able to jump and run like all of my friends. But I have adjusted since my diagnosis to condone it.

I'm pretty sure hospitals and places like that use colors like blue and green because they are calming colors. Also whoever pressed the dislike button is a monster! Why would you ever press the dislike button on something like this!! I get it if you didn't cry, I'm fine with that because some people don't cry easily/often but hitting the dislike button is a heartless thing to do especially on a video like this!! I'm gonna be honest I didn't really cry much but I feel like I cried on the inside (if that makes sense) and this video made me very, very sad.

I cry every time I see videos of people playing this.. It's okay though, I don't really know what it's like going through cancer or being close to someone with it.. My grandfather has cancer but I've never met him.. I'm not going to explain much like I did on Markiplier's channel but I'll just leave it with this... Cherish every single moment you have with your friends and family because someday they'll no longer be with you.. I agree with you so very much,when I was about 5 my Nana (great grandma) got cancer at the time I didn't really realize what was happening,I saw that she had something hooked up to her and asked my dad about it, when he explained what was wrong I was absolutely petrified,the cancer she had,had no cure so it was just a matter of time before she died my Nana was the toughest lady I had ever met even though she was dying her personality didn't change,not until the end. After she died during the same year I was changed forever and I learned something very important. You need to cherish every moment you spend with your loved ones. I hope my story teaches you something because I cried while writing it.

the one thing I hated about this video is when Max kept saying sorry that he was tearing up. Max it's fine, I'm sure alot of people were crying. I started tearing up at the part when u were reading the cards and just seeing you tear up or wiping the tears away made me sad. I love this game and I really hope Joel and his family are ok and doing well. the one part that really makes me cry in this game is when your in the hospital room and Joel is crying and hitting his head on the bars... I remember being told that my gran gone , I just didn't know what to do I just cried and look for her I never trusted anyone (except my mum and Papa) for years ,was I know how it feel to have people lost to cancer...... my gran died of cancer, my great aunt died if cancer and loads more people from my family have died from cancer. So I found this video very touching I cried loads after I watched this video, I bought the game and played it I just sobbed. Many people have lost to cancer and I just ate wished it was not real. also Max it is good that u cried and showed emotions because that means u have a heart. Max, you are my role model. You always have and always will be. And I never realized it until just now. At the end of the video when you were explaining what had happened when you were younger, you weren't thinking about yourself and how it would affect you, you were thinking about your family. You were thinking about how hard it would be for them. When I first saw you in sky's old videos, you were known as 'Mad Max' but I knew that's not all you are. A few months back, I was very depressed. I attempted suicide many times, I always cut myself, and I thought that I would never be happy. But through all my hardships with being suicidal, depression, family, friends, racism, and more, you were one of the few people who could make me smile. If I was ever feeling down, I would go straight to watching your videos. Now that I look back at it, my life was no where near as hard as people with cancer/kids who have cancer. But I didn't realize that then. So I just wanted to say thank you.

Max. I know the pain of losing someone you're close to from cancer. I lost my best friend last September. She was my life. She was always there for me. When I laughed, when I cried, when I was depressed. She was always there for me. Everyday I would call her and text her. My seventh grade school year had been amazing (I'm now in ninth) then one day, she disappeared. She stopped calling, she stopped texting. I didn't know what happened. Then in April of 2015 I found out in the middle of a school day that she had cancer and that she only had four months to live. I wanted to visit her so much, but no one would take me. Then in July I moved four hours away. Her family texted me and told me that she loved me and we would be best friends forever. I tried calling but to no avail. Her family kept giving me updates and on September 4, 2015 I got the call. She had died. I fell down crying outside my classroom. I couldn't go to her funeral because of family matters and I miss her everyday.

Same. When Max cries, most people cry. Its not because the tears. Its because of the fact that one of their favorite youtubers,their role model, is crying. and people can't help but cry with them

My grandma die of cancer last year I didn't get to see her because she didn't want me to see her like that so I had to stay with my nan two days later I got a call from my mum and she said she had died I felt so sad for 2 days but I just have to remember that she is with me and she has never left me

Im at my Grandmas for the rest of the week because my parents are in Oregon and we were watching the Olympics and me being me I didn't care for it. I started watching this video and I looked at the tv and they weren't even at USA yet. I kept watching and I started cry, my brother teased me so I want to my room. My younger brother starting watching too, you guys acted like twins. It cheered me up, and I wiped the tears away. I started laughing and my brother did too. The doctor part though, dang that got me good. Once this video wand done I felt like a new person. I couldn't even at that moment. I went to bed like I just woke up from a scarlet dream. This was the best/worst video ever, and I thank you for helping people actually believe that thing like this do happen. You are my favorite RU-vidr no joke. Thanks again.

max i am a 10 year old when i 6 my grandma died it impackt me i was not in the hospital when she died i understand why my mom did't let me go there because no kid should see their loved one die i did't know i would have spend a lot more time with her and done so many things but she's with me in my heart i will never forget the memores i had with her

a beautiful story. when my grandpa died, it was hours earlier when I took off school and sang songs to him with my mom. (im a Christian) it was sad but beautiful.

I think the reason this game gets me emotional is because I lost my father to cancer, but my situation was kinda different. We weren't really that close and we never lived together. We were working on our relationship and he never told me how he was feeling. He always said "I'm fine". Then one day when I was 15 (4 years ago) my mother and I spent a day with him and three weeks later I go on Facebook to find out he died (none of my family members called me). So... Yeah. That's just a little of my story.

My dad shot himself and my mom is currently fighting breast cancer. She is almost done with her chemo and the doctors say she will be fine. It’s okay to cry sometimes.
