In today's video, we'll be pulling the Jimmy's original engine! I've been planning on swapping the engine for a while. It'll not only revitalize the truck in major ways, but it'll also allow me to rebuild the front suspension and steering with easier access than I'd have otherwise. It'll be a lot easier to film all of this stuff too. The original engine was burning/leaking a ton of oil and just had a general sluggish nature to it. By the time all of this work is done, just about the entire front end of the truck will be new!

Over the next few months, I'll be introducing a lot more project content to the channel, in addition to my normal reviews! The 240SX will be picking up soon (engine swap), along with a few other things I have in the works! For this series, I'm excited to announce a new partnership between Saabkyle04 and O'Reilly Auto Parts (www.oreillyaut...) Together, we'll be bringing the Jimmy back to its former glory! I'll be focusing on a lot of DIY content to fix what's broken, while upgrading key components. My goal is to get this thing to a point that it could be a reliable daily driver. There's a ton of things that need to be done, so expect a lot of cool content with this one. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you all enjoy! I'm really excited about these projects. They're a great way for me to interact with you all more and us all to have fun together!

That would be a lot of fun, but I suspect one of those engines would kill the transmission and transfer box very quickly. Now, with a manual swap and a transfer box rebuilt and toughened up by a suitably qualified shop it could work. Or it could just start breaking axles...

I have pretty much had it with O'Reilly's. Every time I go there, I ask for a product, and the person behind the counter gestures toward one half of the store and says, "If it's not on the shelf, eh we probably don't have it." They can't even be bothered to get up and help me look. And I'm not talking in the middle of rush hour either. Our O'Reilly's is virtually always dead. On top of that, they always sell me crappy parts. Just the other day I placed an online pick up in store order for some front inner and outer tapered wheel bearings for my 92 Roadmaster. After battling with the person at the counter to get them to realize that I wasn't wrong and that I actually did place an order online, they almost wouldn't let me have the parts because they wanted to see the credit card that I payed with online. However, the website clearly states that ALL I WILL NEED is my drivers license for identification in order to pick up my goods. No credit card required for pickup. After all of this, I get my parts home and open the box. Surprise surprise, 2 out of my 4 bearings have been opened. On top of being opened, one of them was missing the race and was covered in engine oil and dirt particles!! Very, very bad QC there. They didn't even tell me I was purchasing used parts, they just pawned them off on me as new! After this, I don't think I will be shopping for auto parts in person at a brick-n-mortar store at all ever again, as I went to the auto zone down the street and they made me wait for 15 minutes there at the counter while multiple employees looked begrudgingly for my online order of the same parts that I was TRYING to get from O'Reilly's. After telling me they actually don't have what I payed for multiple times, they finally popped out of the back room with my parts. I swear, local stores and people in general have become SO INCOMPETENT. Gone are the days when you could walk into a local store of ANY KIND, ask the shopkeeper if they had something in specific, and out they would pop with the wares you requested. I am continually sickened by the state of our citizens, ESPECIALLY our youth.

Wait... I have a question, is it possible to use the “Parts Jimmy’s spare tire holster” on the new Jimmy?
@saabkyle04
@saabkyle04 5 лет назад
RealViperVlogs 82 yes and no. Is it possible? Yes, if you have the right amount of skills with welding and possibly fabrication. The problem is that there are reinforcement pieces of metal built into the body structure to hold the weight so you would have to make new reinforcements. It’s a lot of work and I don’t really think it’s worth it when you can go Buy a hitch mounted tire carrier.

My goodness lol I wouldn't have taken it out I would have kept driving it lol until it wouldn't I mean replace things that it needed along the way yea but I wouldn't have just took the engine out just because it smokes a little bit of oil and stuff that's really not that bad at all it's only on first starts up and when you restart it later on it's only because your valve guide seals are bad and you could replace those or just kept driving it like it was . it wouldn't have hurt anything that's just too much work to do all that just because it smokes a little bit and everything as long as it runs and drives good and has power and there's no issues like really major issues i would have just kept it and just drive it like it was but fix the oil leaks and things that had definitely . and evidently have more money to spend to go buy a new engine just because of that lol. But good video i like it and wanna see more but just my opinion lol . My 92 chevy s10 has 337miles and it doesn't even smoke at all 2.8 5speed . I have seen it where the catalytic converter would cause a vehicle to smoke and things like that I've seen that more than once you change the catalytic converter or cut it off and it would probably never smoke again

My bet is that theres gonna be a decent amount of ring-ridge on the very top of the cylinders where the piston rises to, and also i suspect the smoking is from valve seals. Common on high mile chevys, oil is pumped up to the valvetrain with the engine running, and when its shut off the oil leakes passed the valves and into the combustion chamber and when you start it is puffs

I replaced the 4L60E on my old 93 S-10 Blazer, and to get to those "impossible" bellhousing bolts, I removed the front 4 body-to-frame bolts (and loosened the 2 behind that) and jacked the body up off of the frame a good 4-5 inches. I managed to get the exhaust x-over pipe out, but ended up mangling both of the flanges a decent amount.

I just had to take my 88 S10 2door blazer to a scrapyard. That car was a piece of work but I still loved it. That car had a great but also devious personality. I named it Christine after the killer car because it was red with silver and sometimes it had me believe it was possessed. It broke my heart because I wish I could've done more for her. She may have been a p.o.s. but she got me point A to point B (sometimes) for 2 years. She was a trooper. Watching these videos on your Jimmy just makes me want to get another 2door s10.

Fun fact, the official service manual procedure for accessing those top bellhousing bolts is to remove the body mount bolts on one side and jack the body up a couple inches using a wooden block. It's obvious the 1st-gen body wasn't designed with the 4.3 in mind!
