WOW. I've never actually listened to a Gojira song despite being a 30 year old metalhead. This converted me instantly, this combines almost everything I really love in bands like Dillinger Escape Plan, and I'll be listening to this album and diving into their music thanks to this. The fact that this is called "Time Consuming Ep" just tweaked something in my head, do you think you could do a short video about the song Mother May I by Coheed & Cambria? There's something I haven't EVER been able to put my finger on about the main riff and the way Josh Eppard's drums change the feel of the entire riff. I mean the entire album is an absolute masterpiece (I taught myself almost every single song by ear, even the gorgeous extended solos in The Final Cut), but this song in particular I've always had a fascination with and I feel like it really deserves someone shining a light on it. Either way, I've subscribed and thank you for exposing me to this!

I came back to this because I realized that there could be a significance with the 45/4. In the Gojira documentary there are mentions of "49" and "49 days" in their notebook that they use to scribble song lyrics, themes etc. 45+4=49.

Really interesting approach, For me I just listen and memorize the rhythms as a Melody, and jotting down each section as a shape (triangle/square etc). But this is a pretty solid method and you don't have to sit at a kit.

For some people explaining all these different time signatures and how they're made might not be that easy to explain and make it FUN at the same time. And being a person who benefits the most from visual representation of what I am learning, I love how you incorporate your artistic side into explaining complex grooves/rhythms/beats, etc. Sometimes explanations can be boring if the person is just talking, but the way you express the knowledge makes it easy to understand and fun to watch.
