@@benjaminmajors2183 collegiate tennis player at Sacred Heart university. Thanks for replying to a 2 month old comment thread to get me more likes, appreciate the hate :)
that is why 'patience is such a virtue' having played pickle ball since last Feb, it took me a long time to realize this, but for me the big one is you have more time than you think to hit the ball.
Cause of how the ball is designed, when you hit it harder they can actually return harder, the softer you hit it the less likely they can return it with enough power to mess you up, it’s a lot of looking for the proper openings without giving them an easy ball to kill you with
@@sprayfarts7892far from it. Badminton singles is about stamina, making the opponent work the corners, force them to make a mistake and lift short so that you can attack with a ball going 400+ kph. Doubles is a different thing. Those guys have the most insane reaction speeds in the world. Nowhere near pickeball.
I Agree, but most of these guys come from tennis... When they realised they weren't fit enough for tennis, or even for padel (a lot more physical than pickleball, with lots of lobs, etc.), they stuck with this game 😂
My mind laughs thinking there is some old dude somewhere in America banging on his television excitedly screaming oh my god.. oh my god.. oh my goooood!
If they try to hit it harder than that when it's that's close to the net the ball will jump up and be a perfect put away for the other team so they have to keep it soft and as low as possible. I'm a tennis player who learned that the hard way.
I understand from a viewer's perspective that dink rallies can look repetitive, but if you're a solid 4.0+ Pickleball player, you know how much patience and control is needed to persevere in a dink rally and initiative the correct aggressive move. Fast-hand volleys and speed-ups are tactically executed at the higher level gameplay during long dink rallies for good reason.
Is this really a sport! 90 percent just tapping the ball! Compared to tennis where you have to actually move with a ton of variety of shots! Played tennis for 30 years and still learning the game! I’m sure I could pick this up in a month and be good at it!
Funny that people who don't understand; the dynamics of the specially designed ball, and how specifically the NVZ and net height come together to restrict the shot selection, and the importance of finesse over power or speed in this game - decide to sit back and comment on how easy this would be if they were on the court 🤗
To be fair, it really isn't the hard. BUT 99% of people (maybe except pro racket sport players) would get demolished at this level of play. I thought it looked really easy so I tried it for the first time, and yeah I was one of the best 3 players at the club I went to (I used to play competitive badminton). But even then, sometimes I wouldn't miss a shot, or not make as good a shot as I envisioned. So it isn't that hard, but is definitely harder than it looks on RU-vid lol
@@sebastiandunning9236 Skill and experience in other racket sports would definitely help in the first phase of the learning curve. But, unlearning those skills and observing this game from a different angle will be more helpful, I guess. But, the best strategy to follow while learning Pickleball is to keep a deaf ear to those who say that the game doesn't require any skills.
Only reason I even watching this considering to try it out is because I passed 50 and my body is half fucked up from a life filled with sports... Going deep for a backhand in tennis and my knee cartilage says HELL NO - running twisting and turning in padel and my back says BAD IDEA. Seems like pickleball is more of a senior game that might suit my poor condition:)
If they crush the ball it’ll go out, you Dino to prevent them from putting it away on you, it’s a patience game, which a lot of people like you can’t do
This sport is growing in America as they are lazy and don't want to learn a sport with steep learning curve. I've started playing tennis at 32 and , God what a beautiful sport tennis is.
Never seen so many people complain about another sport than people who play Tennis. It’s hilarious that Tennis players pick on the sport of Pickleball by acting like Tennis is the hailmary of sports. You guys are better off just saying Pickleball looks dumb, don’t bring up Tennis because that sport is ass. If you enjoy sitting like a dog looking at a ball go back and fourth while men and women grunt, then by all means, go enjoy watching Tennis. Hell if you have a mean grunt of your own, go play it! But remember, don’t act like Tennis is cool.
Take your rackets and ball, go on a beach volley court and voilà : beach tennis unlocked. It would be more fun to watch : faster, no rebound, jumps, dives etc.
