Gohan *always* wanted to be a scholar, fighting was never in his blood like his dad, and he can still pull up to fight any opps that want to destroy the world at any point in time. Izuku has to use a *literal IRON MAN suit* to be a hero and I really hate that so much... I wanted to see him be able to use 100% of OFA with no drawbacks as an adult, not be a quirkless teacher that hasn't seen his friends in almost a decade for some reason.

It can be done, but it has to be executed well. Like edward losing his alchemy in FMA:Brotherhood was a decent way to end that series. Here its just bad because it showed deku had 0 growth. I don't mind it if the powers are set up like a curse and the character would be ok with losing the power to live a normal life. Deku though relied entirely on that power to feel worthwhile

This trope can be done but in a way that makes sense. Deku losing OFA is fine, if his friends talked to him, marries uraraka, gave the iron man suit after graduation so he can be a hero on the front lines while still being a teacher. But no, none of that happened, there is no pay off. Deku losing his powers is just a big fuck you for this character and the fanbase. Ichigo lost his powers and is depressed about it. But he literally got orihime, had a child with her, living a normal life, his friends even though they're busy with soul society still talks and hangs out with him (they also had a family of their own but they make sure Ichigo gets a special treatment). Ichigo's situation is not even comparable to Deku's, deku's fate is just sad

It feels both in-character and out of character at the same time which is crazy. At the beginning of the series he put absolutely 0 physical effort towards preparing himself to become a hero, all he did was cope with his diaries. Bro was really prepared to walk into U.A with nothing but his noodle arms and a book, fail and then become a nobody. The only reason he even tried at all was because All Might gave him the cheat code to success. With the ending of the manga you are basically saying that essentially, despite all that he went through, all that supposed character development and growth, in actuality Deku learned nothing and is still that wimpy dreamer from the beginning of the series and won't try unless he has his hand held all the way.
