For some odd reason I looked through Alan Mowbray's(The Devil) imdb page and noticed he was in a movie called The Perfect Snob. THAT needs to be the next review.
So Bobby Watson was born in Springfield, sold peanuts at a theater as a boy, and in time had his own comedy act that led to fame and fortune. And playing Hitler in nine movies.
If this happened today, those movies would all be in a shared universe, ala Marvel and DC. Why has nobody attempted to make a World War II movie universe?
@Bradley Coates I get the intent but these films are so infantile that I'm not even sure I'd like them even if I was a movie goer from that era. Hitler is basically an Adam Sandler character with childish, slapstick humor...
Fun fact - Mussolini and producer Hal Roach were actually friends - at least prior to the War, and nearly formed a joint production company. Newsreel footage of Mussolini's son meeting the Little Rascals can be found here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SRQZGUb8Jds.html
This nor it’s predecessor are actual ‘feature films’ , they’re from the series of ‘Hal Roach streamliners’ made after he closed up his comedy shorts department in 1939.
Katie Baily In French we don't pronounce the "t", so hearing Nazty(such a good play on word, movie!) or the normal English pronunciation "Nahtzee" is weird either way...
Getting Hitler to do one good deed? That's easy! Just have him be nice to some dogs. And if you want to see all the fun taken out of punching Hitler, read the Miss America comic where she travels back in time and meets Captain America.
This needs Walt popping to tell you how offended he is that you'd disparage Nazis like this. Also, while America was making films like this, in Britain, we were making films like _Went The Day Well?_ which I'd actually like to see you review. Having said that, the actor who plays Hitler, actually does look like Hitler, I'm guessing his career ended with The War. This plays like a wartime issue of _The Beano_ reads. And as much as I like _Stingray_ I still think you should have played the _Stingray_ theme tune over the "bath toy" scenes.
The war adventures of Herbert Gillis before he came back to the stattes, married, opened a small grocery store and raised a son ,who hung around a beatnick.
i think it was on this one where he made the monkees joke. even though it was a joke Instant Reply as a great fucking album. what can i say i love the group the Monkees and have since i was a kid.
So what did they call HItler's wife? Miss Hitler? Or would that be Misses Hitler? (watches scene of rocket going into Hitler's ass)... I guess NOT! And who in the hell is going to get that Mitchell and Petrillo reference?! . . . (slowly starts to raise hand).
It's a bit unsettling how the tone switches from Hitler and gang's wacky shenanigans to ''I wanna fuck Hitler up so bad'' Benson. I know it's wartime propaganda but now it just seems tonedeaf.
Yay, another Hitler slapstick comedy from the early 1940's. I can never forget you reviewing those. 4:07- Now if only Marvel Comics would make a cover of Sam Wilson's Captain America punching Trump in the face. 12:02- In your own words from The Devil With Hitler review, "Shleep is German for sleep." I won't forget this Nazi-shinanigens movie reviews.
