My late husband would take his hands off the steering wheel and fold them, and say "here you drive". He could back anything with his eyes closed. No idea why I ever tried to help him back up because he could park it on a dime. He was a prankster and most of our fights were because he was playing a prank on me. Of course, I would be furious which he thought was even better than the prank. He's been gone almost three years and our family still refers to things he's done as Bobisms. A good marriage takes a lot of give and take, and a lot of work. Thanks for the laughs.

I get you! One of our biggest fights was over driving. He insisted I drive and then criticized every move I made. I stopped the rig at the side of the road and told him to GET OUT! That shocked the heck out of him, I can tell you! 😂😂😂

Pushing on 40 years of marriage we argue in the house or motorhome, it’s done as fast as it started, we let it slide cause in reality it’s not worth long term being pissed.

My husband and mine first fight was when he wanted my help to back up and then he gets mad at me for doing it wrong. Like stopping I see people do the closed fist and he said that is not how it is done. I stated I watched for 3 years all the RU-vid videos of people backing up and he has never dealt with hand signals.

Been married over 40 years and can say” feeling like your heard, picking your fights( life of death) ; small petty things are just not worth the energy or pain, truly forgiving and saying “ i love you dearly “ and complimenting each other, snuggling, and letting the other know your struggling today so you give me grace and support is so important. Reassurance of how special you are to me goes along ways. Gut laugher together draws you closer too. Communication, compromising and “unconditional love” is the key. People today really don’t understand what unconditional love truly means. It doesn’t mean physical or verbal abuse but one aspect is your journey is as one with no other options. My husband gave me a card one day and all it said was “ I chose you and I love you every moment of everyday” through hard times, sickness and good times I chose you. “ Great job touching little bit on a touchy topic but a really serious one when you’re living in a small space. Hope you do more on this topic. I only know of one other RVing influencer that has been sharing about this, and it really helps the rest of us. Tysm it’s a blessing

Ideas that I’ve never seen addressed before. Kuddos. 👏 We’ve found our niche by finding our strong points and letting the other know we’ll let them know if we Ned help. Like you, we just laugh about it and move on. I’m blessed because my husband is very considerate and patient or he’ll go for a walk/sit outside. His motto is, “I try not to say anything to you that I can’t take back”. I’m a blessed wife and I know it.

My husband and I spent 3 years team driving a semi in the 80's. I learned to drive a stick shift in that semi with hubs doing the teaching. Threatened to get out and walk home several times(some of them hundreds of miles from home). We lived in an 8' x 6' cabover for 3 years spending up to 6 weeks at a time on the road. When we were home between runs we tended to go our seperate ways for a few hours every day to get that reset. We are getting ready to retire and head out in our rig for long road trips. I see many long walks in my future or maybe trips to a local library. I can relate to the constant chit chatter even before I've had my coffee.. 🙄 Thanks for sharing.

What did you guys drive for a rig back then? After that 3 years, did either one of you still drive over the road? Please respond, I like the stories from the 80's!

@@je862 we had a 1984 GMC cabover with a Cummins engine (it's been too long for me to remember what engine). Not a West Coast truck for sure but we took it there anyway. Did all 48 states multiple times in those 3 years. My husband drove over the road again for Frito-Lay after a stint of self-employment as an excavation contractor. Then he hauled some super loads as part of his job as a contrator at an army base.

@@rollinwiththedavises1938 Nice story! I wish you guys well on your retirement! I'm close to 60 so I don't have too much time left. I won't full time rv but what makes me happy is if I could spend a couple months every summer in south dakota, the badlands and the black hills. Also, over the years I've interviewed dozens of people who have started trucking in the late 1950's and have driven through into the 90's etc and the vast majority have said things really started to change around the late 80's as far as truckers being friendly with one another, stopping to help change another truckers' flat tire, and other problems, etc. I don't know what happened in society around that time but that's what I've been told. thank you for responding!

Before anything else---the sponsor of this video: AWESOME CHOICE! Mental health is too easily taken for granted. For your video, a house with open floor plan has prepared for some of your challenges: I watch the TV on closed caption because my wife is banging around in the kitchen 10ft away (or right next to me in the RV), I'm like a ninja when I get before her/she's a Metallica drummer making coffee (but I sleep like a rock/she's Princess and the Pea), and we never stay anywhere in the RV where I can't either run the generator and/or the A/C's on fan all night... White noise=saved marriage... you also nailed it: "let the little things go" Great video!!

Great video! I watched it when hubs was out getting our truck serviced as I tend to overreact to things. As far as tips just because you have been married over 40 years when you retire and go full time in an RV this doesn’t prepare you for the closeness. We started out with a small 5th wheel and are now in a 40 ft because we needed 2 bathrooms. That took care of a major issue! If we are bickering I go “upstairs “ to the bedroom and read or listen to soothing music and close the door.

Hi I just found you channel. I subscribed right away! This video hit home immediately! We have been full time since October 28, 2022. We have camped in all different rigs from the Tent mansion, bumper Humpers, fithers, an now the 40’ Class A! I love the class A feel an the ability to just go to the bathroom, make a sandwich… but the expense is greater if something goes wrong! Fresh out of the gate heading to Florida for winter an boom! Our water pump goes!!! 4 days at Walmart parking lot because they couldn’t seem to understand we needed a rotater tow vehicle! We finallyhad to find our own an hook them up with our insurance carrier an get towed to a truck stop down the road just a few miles! We had that fixed an, we were back on the road! Now it was do I go home you do we continue, still in the RV Full time! That was just enough to want to go home! I almost did! But no matter what stress is a part of life! So let’s go have fun an deal with life as it comes! That’s what we did! I do have a few questions? Water filtration system how was it? An what vehicle insurance have you found to be good? Is harvest host really a good thing? We will be getting that in a few months. National park pass, I’m disabled an it’s only $10 for I figured it can’t hurt to have? Thank you the videos, they do help people! I still haven’t drove it on the street yet! I told myself I need to do it this year for sure an I will force myself too! I drove school bus for a few years an this should be that different.

I remember our first argument as a married couple. Pre-RV we were packing to go camping. I had done this 2 week camping trip on my own many many times. This was the first time he went with me. I kept bringing stuff out to the truck and saying this goes in the back, this goes in the back. I got mad because he wasn't doing what I asked and packed the entire truck wrong. I finally got really mad and we had a HUGE argument in the driveway of the house. That's when I realized, I was saying it went in the back of the truck from the POV of where I was standing at the tailgate. He was looking at the truck from the POV of front of the truck is where the driver sits, the back is the tailgate. He didn't understand why I was bringing out things that should go in last, first. Fast forward 15+ years later when we get into what really should be "stupid" arguments all someone has to say is "Is it the front of the truck or the back of the truck". We almost immediately start laughing, and then start talking. We're not full time yet, but have spent a lot of time in the RV I hope this trick carries over to the small space of RV living.

Those potholes in Tiffin’s service yard are wicked! I’m talking about the ones surrounding the drainage grates. My husband ran over one, and all of our clothes hangers fell off the rail! It’s so easy to miss those huge dips in the pavement there. You just don’t expect them right there outside the service bays. Great video, touchy subject. It's a tough problem because each of us thinks that we are perfect and our spouse is the one that needs help. We're going on 49 years in June, and the alone time is paramount to maintaining peace and civility. I admit, I'm the one that needs the alone time to maintain sanity. She's nuts, so alone only makes her crazier. I get upset, I blow up, say something, and boom, usually I'm done. She has to puff up like a frog on a hot road, for a couple of days. Seriously, ya'll did a great job on this video, even before the bloopers. I imagine that the folks that will have big problems, are the ones that get married thinking, I can change that flaw in them and they'll be perfect. Wrong, ain't gonna happen. Key is as ya'll stated, accepting differences, compromise, and stay in that common ground area. Ya'll are great, even better together ! God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels. 👍👍❤

Thank you for sharing. If you get married thinking you are going to change someone or fix their flaws....you are already behind the eight ball.

Ooo I know the driving argument! Hubby drives everywhere, my concern is I need to drive in case something happens to him… but it’s an ongoing discussion 🙃

So funny! Being full timers since four years and leaving in a class A 35 feet, I can say this is real life. Lot of compromises , but so nice life together !

You have a bedroom door right? Maybe set up your office in the bedroom. We travel in a camper van and found setting up our screen room with table chairs and coffee pot really helps.

I think this is my favorite video that you have done. Thank you for being real! We are approaching 1 year of full time RVing and really I never thought I could actually think about strangling my beloved with my bare hands, but it did cross my mind 😂😂😂 just kidding would never but anyway yes it takes it to a whole new level. Thank You again. Wishing you continued happy and safe travels.

After 10 years living in an RV full time you have touched on many of the trials. Ah backing up the rig, cleaning, shoes off or on, etc. Loved the out-takes!

Lol I think we’ve had nearly every one of these arguments, but the worst is when parking the rig. We both can get very colorful with our words while trying to get parked. But I think we’ve both learned “it is what it is”-just letting off some steam, and we get over it quickly. That was a big hurdle for us, but we got it 😊

Boundary setting and respecting the other's boundary are key. Stacy refusing to drive after being yelled at was great boundary setting! Phil's self-deprecating humor is another key to diffusing. Great points and funny reenactments, especially listening to the "neighbors'" argument!

Great video! I'm sure it applies to just about every couple whether full time or part time in their RV. She stills works remotely in the rv and my job is to be quiet. Two type A personalities in 300sf...what could go wrong. Somehow it all works.
