I'm 71 bought my first two guns before the GCA 1968 and neither of those guns has forced me out to commit violence. And another thing, Conservatives should stop using the term gun violence. I am proud that Clay and I are both from Louisiana, and we both think alike. Yes, you can take a HUMAN for temporary mental evaluation, but you can NOT legally take his tools without a warrant specifically naming them as something to be seized as EVIDENCE OF A CRIME. No crime has been committed if someone is simply involuntarily committed for a mental evaluation.

@@bryansimmons4550 Not saying that the mental evaluation process can't be abused (because today there are PLENTY of cases indicating it is routinely), but it may actually get people the help they need. Many veterans today refuse this assistance for fear of losing their rights, both 2A and others that are perhaps not codified in the Constitution.

@@fleatactical7390 That's where the laws need to be changed. If a person is responsible enough to understand that he needs help and he gets it voluntarily, if his treatment is successful, then he should NOT be punished for doing what is right.

When I was in the 6th grade in Indiana we had a mandatory class on firearm training and safety after which we received a certificate from the state for completion of the course and I have never miss used any firearms and I've also talked my kids proper safety handling and respect for firearms. They need to bring these classes back into schools.

Sadly not everybody responsible. Parkland, Las Vegas , Miami and the list is unending. Hundreds of grave prove, humans lost their ways. Countries with reasonable gun laws hardly have to deal with mass killing. And all those countries allow citizens to own guns. But there is training, tests, definitely not automatic weapons with 50 round of bullets. But hunting rifles, as we supposedly use them for that. In the 1950, about half a dozen of us boys about 13 years old all brought rifles to school for a school pagent that we were doing. Try that today and see what would happen !!!

I remember getting lost on my bike rides. 4-5 years old .

But this is the past. Our population has grown, more children were abused at that time and grew up messed up or did to their kids what happened to them. A lot of nasty things happened at that time. It snowballed into what we have today in our society. Ask your relatives, friends, etc how many of them have been abused. The numbers will astound you. This country wasn't even innocent during its inception also. Africans were sold to "American" men and God only knows how horrible that time was. Don't get me started on slavery and the ripple effect that is occurring now as we speak. This country isn't the same as it was, and you all are acting like ostriches here including that dolt from louisiana. How many of you remember the lynchings that occurred in his precious state and the south. Not too long ago by the way. I was a kid in the 80s and I always saw on the news about church burnings, burning crosses in front yards of colored folks. In 1994 I was in college in oklahoma. I saw on my local news that the last black man to get kicked out of a town called white center (I think, long time ago), died the night he left. 50s something man, went to his new home and was murdered by a black robber. The irony is hella strong. But the fact remains that these times you all hold dear to your hearts weren't everyone's reality.
