That's No Place to Park a Truck 

I wrote this in the video description, but some are not heeding my request. Everyone, myself included, makes mistakes. I'm certain this driver learned from this situation. I know that I try learn from my mistakes. My videos are about the job of HELPING others and figuring out how to solve problems. I do not belittle the drivers or the companies. Please keep negative commentary to yourself. This is a positive, family-friendly channel. Please help me keep it that way. Thanks for watching and God bless.

"I can't get traction". I'm no expert, but that might be because you are in a flower bed.

"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." Important thing is no one was hurt. If you haven't made a mistake or two along the way, you probably aren't doing anything of importance.

I was wondering who ruined my landscaping there! Been doing the lawn/landscaping there for almost 4 years.

Ron, you are a gentleman. I have read your posting and will avoid writing what I might otherwise. Suffice to say, it worries me that this driver is behind the wheel of a Class 8 truck with 53 ft trailer and GVW of 80,000 lb. I truly question the driver's judgment and driving skills. It is one thing to be forgiving and stay positive. But at the same time one cannot ignore what is obvious here. My sincere concern is not about damage to landscaping in a hotel parking lot but to the other potential troubling issues I see. You're a kind person, and I'm sure some of what I'm saying you have thought yourself.

Also, Its amazing how you guided her and helped her in the situation rather then just sit back and bash her like others would! 👍

Very impressed that when you told her to cut hard right, her LH front wheel ended up within a couple of inches from the kerb. Spot on estimating the angle of turn that was available.

Another good rescue, I used to be an instructor and seen many students make mistakes like she did. Thankfully it wasn’t a major one and hopefully she learned a valuable lesson for the next situation. Thanks for another great video god bless you and your crews and stay safe out there

Some judging like they are professionals and they don’t even know how to turn on a big rig. This is no easy task. She is already braver than most just due to the fact of getting on that driver seat. Everyone makes mistakes, but the good thing about them is that they are good lessons. So stop judging and give some respect. She is out breaking her back while you’re at home scratching ass.

God, I miss my dad J.C., he loved to help people in Quad City area and loved to fix the trucks, or drive. That is a sweet tow truck!

It still blows me away and amazes me how much tow trucks have changed since I drove a tow truck in the 1970's. WOW

Sometimes it can just take a small mistake to mess up ones day. While tearing up property is never a good thing, she got off fairly easy considering the circumstances. I hope she chocks it up to a learning curve, and I can guarantee you she's probably going to be very cautious from here on out! Good job as always, Ron! Stay safe and watch your six!

Nice one Ron, but you're braver than I going under the trailer with the driver at the wheel. I would have walked around to spray the PS rail... I'm sure you had an ear (or 2) on the brakes the whole time you were back there. You do a great job and are a true gentleman to all. Thanks for the video and keep safe.

That was one expensive trip to White Castle.

Another good one, everyone walked and drove away safe. Yes lessons were there for the learning, and I am sure they are onboard for the future. It no one needed to point fingers, keep positive and move on safely.

I learned pretty early on in my driving career that your stomach will get you in trouble. Don’t listen to it!

My line: “that didn’t quite work out”...it’s a well used line 😁. Better the landscaping get injured than a person! You show people how to treat others. I agree, why make their bad day worse!

Hey Ron not sure why you get dislikes on your channel. We are all humans and we all make mistakes. You just are doing your job and helping people. Always nice to the person no matter what situation they are in.

I am a new truck driver just over a year, my heart goes out to the driver.

When my daughter was learning how to drive. She went to the McDonalds while trying to park she hit the curb and got a flat. She called me saying she had wracked the car. When I got there she swore she was not driving again! I ask did she hit anyone? She was crying no. I just told her then call AAA to fix the flat. The manager of the McGreasy started yelling she can’t park there that’s for customers only. I said to McNasty the tow truck is on their way. When the guy got there I ask him to take his time fixing it.

I can guess that by having you there Ron to help her, she calmed down a lot faster than if it was someone else. Your demeanor and all makes the world of difference. God Bless Ron

I have property in an urban area. About every couple of weeks something is torn up or damaged. The security cameras always show what happened and it's usually a "hit and run" from a truck or trailer. Yeah, I know, it's just property damage and nobody gets hurt. Still, someone has to pay for the repair. I've seen two occasions where the driver has pro-actively stepped up and asked how to make it right. In those cases, our response is always "don't worry about it. Thanks for letting us know." But if we have to contact the company, the tone of conversation is a bit different.

I like your company’s three horn beep policy. I’ve started using it backing my buses.

Back in mid 70s I was the service mgr at a known company, I got a call from the service , if I could call one of our drivers , he went to load up from one of those REALLY SLOPING DOCKS, there was water there when he pulled up , but the skies opened up, so much that the straight truck engine was NOW UNDER WATER , I did pick him up @a diner , soaking wet as he walked a 1/2 mile in the rain , This is the kind of place water can FREEZE in winter , having rear wheels in it before it froze , They do not seem to make loading docks that way anymore . Nice job helping her out of that situation. I know a lot of guys would have had a different attitude. But like the saying goes, WORK TOGETHER AND MOVE MOUNTAINS, WORK AGAINST EACH OTHER AND FAIL MISERABLY. You will always get the job done with a positive attitude.

After almost 30 years of driving, one of the earliest lessons I learned was. Never try to take a truck into a parking lot that's not meant for trucks. This is one of the number one reasons, so many drivers get themselves in trouble. They want to go to a local restaurant or a shopping center..etc.. just stick to places that are meant for trucks to park and you will have a lot less problems

Half the time I watch these videos I'm transported back in time to the 70's. I worked in an Exxon station (which was actually an Esso station when I started) and the boss thought I'd be reasonably adept at towing and recovery. So, he showed me the ropes, and turned me loose on the world. I loved that job, most of the time. The equipment list was a Chevy C30 with a Holmes 440, and an International 4x4 1300 with a twin boom Holmes 480. I thought it was just the shits. Wreckers like this Peterbilt were nearly unknown then, and I don't even know if roll-back were even a thing back then. The best part was that I was young. Work all day pumping gas and working on cars, and spend all night towing cars or pulling jeeps out of the mud. Good times.

I remember my first year on the road was a mess. Handling a rig is a skill that needs honed. Once I learned mine in the real world everything came a lot easier.

Ron is one cool guy I love watching the videos and getting to learn and see some tricks of the trade. While watching the videos I like to make a decision on what I would do and see if that was the best choice (what Ron would do/did)

I like the way she was going to run over the motel's grass and curb and drive off and leave the damage for someone else to pay for. I hope she or her company wass billed.

Ah, finally I'm #1 to comment on one of your videos! Ron I am so happy to have found your channel and the fascinating look into the recovery business. Your patient and always polite commentary is a major reason why I enjoy watching so much. It's almost like receiving virtual "on the job training!" Not that at 73 I'm suddenly deciding to get into the business myself! :) One day after the health crisis has abated and it's safe to travel again, I dearly hope to make an in person visit simply to meet you and your lovely family and shake hands. I live in NW Indiana about 12 miles east of Chicago so am very careful since it is one of the "hot zones" for Novel Covid-19. I am keeping you, your family and all your workers in my daily prayers Ron, that God will keep y'all safe and secure. You are the epitome of the "Southern Gentleman" sir! FIRST! As a truck driver I will say we all make mistakes but this one was just a result of being absolutely careless and not thinking about what you're doing

Is seeing situations like this that I’m glad I learn to drive a rig in the food delivery service, dealing with parking lots like that one and tight spots.

Wonder if she hadn't got stuck would it have been a hit and run concerning the white pickup?

Ron as an ex lorry driver in the UK l sympathise with her when your day goes bad it goes bad you just do your best the next day great job in helping her at least she listened to your advice take care in these horrible days.

Our parking lot was set up long years ago for 48 foot trailers with day cabs and when I worked the dock in 2007 -2009 new OTR drop shippers would often freak out, what with 15 more feet at least on the rig. The older drivers would just love watching it but they'd pick one guy to go out and talk them in as they had a schedule to meet and couldn't afford some stuck person.
