Those rear weights on the John Deere need to go on the front axle because the heavier the drawbar pull, you get a weight transfer from front to back , causing more torque on the rear diff. When free of load , the tractor should be 60% front 40% rear. I specialise in tractor weight balancing. Also, tyres pressure should be no more than 7 psi front and 9 psi rear Hope this helps
Most impressed to see how you got that out You have the experience to know what to do in that situation, that can't taught This is why you as farmer are farming that land Because there are millions of people out there who cannot do that They might have the money to buy it but they could not do your job And there are lots of folk relying on the food you/we produce
Great video! I've been farming for 53 years, never got a rig that BIG STUCK! Gotta say you kept a positive attitude and did a great job by yourself!! I've been stuck in 200 or 250 horsepower rigs but that was impressive. Keep up the good work, God bless and be safe!!👍
@@mikemitchell2554 I once got stuck when I fell asleep and ended up in a slough at the bottom of a hill. Ended up bringing in a HD Winch Truck from the oil patch to pull me out the other side as had harrows behind a cultivar and going backwards wasn't an option. Definitely learnt my lesson that day as the pay cheque took a beating
The muffled sound of Mike's backup beeper is the same sound as the UPS driver's truck backing up to our house, and it keeps triggering my young Lab into thinking someone is at the door.
We finished seeding the day after you took this video I’m interested to see your tired tractors performance we run quadtracs and farm in the same area of your north farm
mud and tracks don't mix , if they get mud in the centre it'll bugger the gide lugs, then the track has trouble with staying straight in the under carage. only thing that's in your favour is it's not slop . we have country over here we call Sunday country, because it's usually too wet Friday and too dry Tuesday. and we also have red soils that you can not tell if it's wet or dry by the look of it as it doesn't change colour or appearance , makes for very tricky farming at times 😁👍
You know, you could build yourselves a basket there on the tongue of the drill for the strap instead of carrying it all the way to the rear of the cart and back every time you use it. When I saw you carrying it there at 14:33 all I could think of is one of those guys in a strongman competition trying not to get a hernia while carrying some huge concrete boulder. Thanks for the great videos!
Hi Mike. Great videos. You could fill the cart full and use half of it seeding the firm, dry ground parts then do the wet bits with the cart half full. Or rice grows well in wet lands, paddy fields.
I’ve had to pull on our 3320 at a 90 degree angle to the hitch. Only saving grace was that it was muddy enough that the big steer tires just skidded once the hitch maxed out it’s ability to turn. It wasn’t pretty but I got it out with no damage.
Good job getting it out of there on your own, that was hard work you did amazing. Excited to see how the John Deer will do in comparisson in the wet ground
You should build a deck on the hitch to store the strap and clevis. That way there isn't so much having to carry it all the way around the drill. Of course the thought of having to carry it may deter the desire to keep pulling when you shouldn't.
'On June 17 the 9th Circuit panel of judges said in their ruling that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2020 assessment of glyphosate was so deeply flawed that the court was vacating the agency’s human health assessment of the weedkiller. The court found that the EPA used “inconsistent reasoning” in finding that the chemical does not pose “any reasonable risk to man or the environment.” The EPA failed to follow established guidelines for determining cancer risk, ignored important studies, and discounted expert advice from a scientific advisory panel in officially declaring that the weedkiller glyphosate was “not likely to be carcinogenic,” the court found.'
I would put the strap and chains in the tractor, not the cart, since more weight means more traction... Dad always cautioned me for tilling wet land since it drives the air out of the soil and ends up with less productive soil... But that's in GA...
Sorry Mike, but that's still not "Stuck". Temporarily inconvenienced!?.....absolutely! Which of course, is a complete pain in the Tuchus! But until another vehicle or piece of motorized equipment is involved in recovery....not so much. 1167: 2.....Mud: 0 Now....the only way to give a fair comparison to the 1167, with the Deere....is to purposely seed in the exact same areas as you accidentally took the 1167. The scientific method at work!.....Stay Tuned!!????
Did you give any consideration to letting the field dry out a bit more, or is the calculation that the area not sown was worth less than the rest of the crop being planted on-time?
@Julie & Denis Clark - Hi ya, I think Mike said that the cart was about half full when he first got stuck, but I understand what you're saying, a little less weight in the cart would most definitely help prevent future stuck issues. 🙂🇬🇧
We have a saying - two track is out last and in first, when it comes to wet ground. This in my opinion limits the usability a lot and put four tracks in advantage
15:10 WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT LMAO i'm diyng over here. IT was also on fast forward speed. Mike you always have something what we are not aware of to come.
Maybe a really dumb question - Why do you have the tow strap stowed on the back of the drill, instead of on the tractor? Is there just no room for it on the tractor anywhere? Seems like it might be a lot easier to get into action?
Mike, I'm sorry you got stuck but I got to tell you that was the most entertaining video in a while. The speed it up Montage of you trying to get hooked up to pull out and you could tell that you were getting frustrated you could hear your voice go up and down on the speed it up video, it reminded me of Abbott and Costello Who's on First. I hate to see you get stuck but my gosh they are entertaining you should get 100,000 views or more on this video.
