Another bucket list item for sure! We get through the lines and chaos to see The David up close! Created by Michelangelo in 1501-1504 from what was originally deemed an unusable single slab of marble, this 17 foot tall masterpiece stands poised as a symbol of defiance.
We then were absolutely astonished upon entering the Medici Chapel within the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Built to celebrate the Medici family, patrons of the church, and Grand Dukes of Tuscany, these walls are made from colored marble and precious stone. Video couldn't possibly do this building and all of its incredible opulence justice.
