Later it's explained as teenage pride and insecurity. These boys, as heirs of nobles and royals, can't accept that her level is the result of hard work, as it means they don't work hard enough.

You would be surprised how common is in real life as well, minus the whole hero status thing etc. Many people I've met that weren't as good at something they constantly tried to undermine and sabotage me in things i was better, when it didn't work they tried to spread rumours and so on and so on. So it's pretty common

The prince and the other are not fake or wannabe hero, they are one... Until the author decide to scrap the Royal blood and the Saint is the only one that can harm the demon lord after so many build up and turn our protagonist into Saitama at the last second and solo the demon lord.

Not to mention at the school he’s not meant to be using his status as Prince, he’s meant to just be a student. Instead he skipped all his classes to get involved in school business while exerting a status he isn’t supposed to be relying on.even if he has suspicions like everyone else, he had no place putting himself in the middle of it. If he were anyone else he’d be given detention just for missing the classes without cause

It’s implied, but the two reasons seem to be the trusted aide thing and that the headmaster tried to expel Yumiella for faking her level. Which, considering Yumiella really is lvl 99, he had no proof she was lying and decided to expel her anyways.

Yes and No. He might not be "the sharpest tool in the shed" but he is not really stupid per se. #1 He could not believe the level she is at as he knew that the mightiest of knights at court was around level 60 #2 He was issued a command by the prince, denying a "lawful command" by a royal is sure to carry harsh punishments i.e. he had little to no choice in the matter. #3 The prince is the stupid one. In a later episode he blurted out a national secret with the sole purpose of ... causing highschool drama apparently. Later the headmaster was replaced, but primarily to keep a closer eye on yumiella who the superiors feared hated the headmaster. The new headmaster is primarily a spy.

@@ArschvomDienst I’d disagree for a few reasons but conceded some points. Yes, the level of the knights does make her claims dubious, but he had no proof she was tempering with the tool, as unbelievable as it was. Next, he was the one who argued for her to be allowed to prove herself, but given the timing of his appearance he went to his study immediately and began the expulsion paperwork. Literally zero time between him saying that, he just said it to seem impartial and benevolent while assuming she’d fail. By his own admittance, he didn’t even look at the results she displayed during the tests, he just did it to look good. I’d also argue that it is an unlawful order, the Prince isn’t supposed to be using his status. He’s there as a student, has no official position in the school and is only a student while he’s there. Not only should he not be getting involved or issuing orders, he should be punished for ditching the assessments. Tldr: what the teacher did was actually quite legally and morally dubious. He didn’t confirm anything one way or the other and wanted to lazily resolve this then move on

@@vexxama The headmaster did not begin the expulsion paperwork immediately. Keep in mind it happened after the introductory martial class *AND* the introductory magical class i.e. after 2 hours at the very least. He started on it once the prince skipped his classes where yumiella was supposed to prove herself and apparently barged into the headmasters office *TELLING HIM* to start the expulsion paperwork. He was given no chance to listen to the teachers judgement that were present to witness that. Guess why "lawful command" is set in quotation marks. As said he largely had no choice in the matter. It was either filling out the paperwork to expulse yumiella on a royal order or be thrown into jail (or worse) for disregarding a royal order. You obviously try to have modern society rules applied to the situation. This is a royal society. You could tell the school staff a thousand times not to treat the prince like anything special and more than half of the staff still will end up worshipping the ground he walked on. Only if the king and queen themselves would decree a punishment for everybody that treats their son like a prince it would take some effect. And since that introduces more political problems than it potentially solves ... Please keep in mind the royal family has a lowkey rebellion brewing. So making the populace aware that their son is not to be treated as their son in specific situations is ... problematic at best. They'd be able to abduct the prince because if he is not to be treated as a prince that means he is not supposed to have bodyguards either ...

At that point, nobody believed she was lvl 99. The guy 0:20 who tried to fight her was the 2nd highest (10 or 15) and was mad because somebody claimed to have a higher level than him. Same with the blue hair at 1:16 and the prince 1:23 who tried to get her expelled. All 3 of them got massive ego issues and couldn’t handle the idea of somebody being stronger than them.

@@Death2all546 TBF, he wasn't mad because Yumellia was stronger, he was mad because "lvl 99" was a so high number everybody thought it was some bullshit act to look interresting at the entrance ceremony, denying all the efforts he did to be lvl 10, wich is already saw as a high number for a first year student. It looked stupid to us because we knew Yumellia was really lvl 99, but for anybody else, thinking she cheated is just natural.

@@willsoralis2313 even assuming she’s cheating, they all respond very poorly. The lvl 10 went at her with the intent of causing physical harm. The mage continued refusing to accept it after seeing proof. (Probably handling it the best out of the 3) And the prince immediately jumped to expelling her with no proof besides “it just doesn’t seem possible”. And would still have had her expelled after the magic teacher said she was definitely high level because “maybe she’s just a really high level pretending to be lvl 99”. Which resulted in the black hole demonstration. Even after this, they spend a while being angry at her just for existing.

This is actually the standard plot type of the "Reborn as a Noble Villainess from that Otome game/novel I played/read" variant that is more common for female leads, except she isn't engaged to the prince and has her engagement broken off. The setting is based off of an otome RPG, but she's focused entirely on the combat/levels and ignored the relationship paths, other than knowing the endings.

Part of her strength (and weakness) as a character comes from the fact that she’s so powerful but doesn’t hold any contempt for others or see the need to “put them in their place”. She ends up forgiving things that other people would see as egregious (eg later in the story her maid tries to poison her which doesn’t work and when she finds out she’s just like “eh, you’re sorry and you were being threatened to do it so water under the bridge” when the maid was expecting to be killed)

I wish they had focused more on the hard work she had to have done to get to level 99 instead, after 10 years is a long time to train
