@@chepilevskihey bro, you should definitely think about a buy me a coffee link or something like that. Your channel is one of the best in our community. It’s always honest and unique to so many of the other “same same” channels. I believe the difference is because you do if out of sheer passion and chasing dollars and numbers like some other channels out there. I hate when YT channels and podcasts introduce a patreon and then provide different content for those paying members. Makes me unsubscribe, not because I’m a tight ass but because it created division imo. I’ve been using diy pedal transducers for a long time and the fact I can feel when the abs kicks in or the start of the front tyres losing grip helps a great deal with driving at or close to the limit. I think, a lot of racers forget you do a lot of steering with your feet to control rotation and slip angle, as much as you do with the wheel in front of you. Awesome video as always 👍

It is such a huge deal to have that feedback, isn’t it 💪 It is exactly as you said, turning the car is not as simple as just turning the wheel but is so much more complex to create those circumstances where the car rotates under huge force 🙈

BAAARRRROOOOOOOOO! This is a great video! I always brake hard in a straight line, then lift and run through the corners. I always have an issue with understeer. My best Monza time in Iracing was about 1:50.5-ish. I ran a few warm-up laps since I haven't driven the track in a while. Then keeping this in mind while braking into corners and my FIRST timed lap was 1:49.7. Two laps later I got 1:48.8. I'm still rough since I'm used to braking early and rolling through the corners so there was a lot of time left. I can brake later, keep a little bit of pressure and rotate and get time in the braking zone and corner. I have heard about rotation but never really grasped it. I love it! And to think, I found your video to see a review on the Simagic haptic pedal reactors. I wasn't expecting a freaking lesson that knocked almost 2 seconds off my laps.

@excrubulent
@excrubulent 9 месяцев назад
Nice info, I am looking into how to source parts so I can DIY this, but it will take some doing. They aren't easy to find. Also, a little nitpick about your explanation of trailbraking: in an ideal trailbraking scenario in a track car, you're not actually sliding the rear wheels, and the front wheels don't stay perfectly on a straight track. Both tyres will develop an angle of attack whenever you are cornering. That doesn't mean they slide, they simply deform. In fact it's impossible for them to provide cornering force without angle of attack, because they are elastomers - a type of spring - that will not create any force between the wheel hubs and the road unless they are deformed. Effectively the contact patch of the tyre will twist to roll straight along the road, even though the wheel hub above it is at a slightly different angle. You can see this in videos of tyres on treadmills being twisted, and watching the rubber shift around but not slide. Another way to think of it is as if the rubber "walks" towards the outside of the corner. As a part of the tyre touches the ground and progresses from the front to the back of the contact patch, it will progressively deform more and more until it leaves the ground and it springs back to its rest position. As more rubber surface goes through this process, the end result is that the tyre will shift to the outside of the corner without any sliding taking place. A lot of people misunderstand this, and I find that knowing it is very helpful. Every good driver knows the feeling of pitching the car into the corner, but not necessarily the explanation. Knowing what's happening helps you to get faster by learning to manipulate this behaviour to find the best traction in any given situation.

However, at that level of quality pedals, the differences are fairly small. I imagine that kits to mount the haptic motors to other pedals will start dropping soon. You are right bro, I just used some footage for the editing but the weight transfer and rotation works the same way in ACC as well! You can brake hard on the straight line with abs on but when you turn in is not good to be activated as it doesn’t let the car rotate as good as it should🤛

Awesome video as always, the explanation about how the ABS works was outstanding. Thanks for that If you were to decide between the P1000 with the Haptic Motors and the P2000 with them aswell, which one would you choose? I'm asking because I'm planning on getting one of these pedals coming from a Logitech G920 but I only have one shot here in Brazil and trying them out before I buy isn't something I can do. I think that the P1000 is a bit more well built compared to the P2000 because in the P2000 you have the controller box separated and also the cables aren't hidden at all but it's something that I can live with. I'm leaning a little more towards the P2000 because of the throttle dampener but I'm not sure if Simagic is going to release one for the P1000 later.

Hey buddy, as you’ve said, the P1000 will s better design and bit more refined pedal set ! The inverted version is also way more comfortable for me and I personally prefer the P1000 over the P2000! Really interested in getting these. Couple questions: Have you tried it with cars without ABS to trigger with wheel lockup? If so, was the effect worthwhile? What do you think about these with clutch and accelerator pedals? I could see them maybe helping feel TC or wheel spin. Have you played with that? Not sure there's any point in the clutch.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski 9 месяцев назад
I feel the TC and bite point on the clutch but is not something I’m really interested for! The point of having one on the brake is to tray and drive on the edge without activating the motor! It is there to show me the limits of my braking performance and grips! It is not that much about the effect feeling but the feedback I need to understand the limits!

Do you prefer the inverted or the standard version? I have a bad back and run a slightly softer brake pedal 40KG. I was thinking with the inverted pedals I would be able to get more leverage and the pedal would be easier to push. It looks like you need the hydraulic kit and the extra bushings to fix the drifting using load cell and not the angle senor. I was hoping to eliminate that, but worried the pressure would be to much for me. Love the channel and videos have been a subscriber for many years now.

I have rumble motors on my pedals. Don't need aftermarket junk. Besides, I just turn off the ABS, and adjust my brake force to keep the tires from locking up. Problem solved. Also, a big problem with ABS is that, once you engage it, you create a dead zone with the pedal, where pressing down, or lifting off the pedal has no effect on the braking force, which seriously impairs your trail braking ability. Better to just not use it, IMHO.
