Nice! That was easy enough. Steve's part took me the longest, as I said on that video. Thanks again, my man! Rock on!♥🎸🤘😝🤘

Rock on! Yes, Steve's part is the most difficult. Not that Allen's and Gary's parts were bad, but they're perhaps more conventional on this great tune. All good!

You are a rock god! ive gotten so much better overall as a lead guitarist just watching your video's.your patience as a teacher is awesome.where were you 20 years ago when I was still young enough to look good and sound good.now when I practice my kids tell me it's to loud and nobody listens to that kind of music anymore!sad part is they are probably right.when I have to listen to country music just to hear a decent guitar solo nowadays on the radio.i guess ime stuck in 60s 70s and 80s.all my guitar gear is vintage 60s 70s japanese les paul copies that sound great. My newest guitars are a 90 les paul standard and a 50th anniversary american strat and a 2020 mexican players series strat.Just wanted you to know that if it wasn't for your videos I probably would of sold most of my guitars and stop playing.thx to people like you who make old guys like me keep picking.sorry for the rant.

Mark, I don't have perfect hearing so I can't tell what chord name note tone or what key is being played. I know patterns of the major & minor pentatonic scales all that fancy stuff called hammer ons pull offs slides & all that but I can't figure out to create my own licks or create my own sound. Do you have any tips on doing that
@MarkZabel
@MarkZabel 3 года назад
Hi Kevin. Plenty of tips in my past videos, live streams, and on my member site, so feel free to have a look around! Learning how to do this more and more effectively is a joy and lifelong endeavor to constantly improve at any level. (BTW, there's a theory section in this video where I go over chords and scales - see the outline and click on that if you're wondering what the chords are.) The one biggest piece of advice I can offer (and almost nobody does this) is to learn how to "sing your guitar playing." I'll bet you can sing songs like "Happy Birthday" or at least hum the melodies to them. If you can do that, you can probably also hum along to your favorite guitar solos too. THE trick to coming up with licks and lines is coming up with musical ideas - not scales, arpeggios, modes or lick libraries and the like. So get started with easy stuff like "Happy Birthday" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and move to more interesting melodies as quickly as you can. Learn them on guitar - no tab, no music, no scales - just learn them by humming and repeating. Make lots of mistakes and fix them through trial and error. There's lots more, but yeah ... that's it. Scales, hammer-ons, pull-offs, hybrid picking, modes, "fretboard vision", and all that jazz won't get you there. You've got to learn how to think in music. You need musical ideas. Steal simple stuff from the past and get a little better each day at it. Hope that helps just a bit.

Great lesson! Quick question about the songs intro that maybe you could answer...Does Steve gaines do the first part of the intro before Gary starts the G string bend? Or is it all Gary?
@MarkZabel
@MarkZabel 3 года назад
Thanks! Are you talking about the very beginning of the song? If so, there's that little riff and then a tiny solo line. If so, there are 2 guitars playing or more likely it's dubbed in the studio version. As far as I can tell both the guitars are humbuckers (or P-90s). They don't have that Strat "quack" that Steve so often preferred. BUT ... any one of the players could have played it, so I don't really know. Steve definitely plays the first mini-solo break and in the main solo it's Steve, then Allen, then Gary.

could you do the intro down to the part where you pick up on part one ?

Thanks, and thanks for the feedback! I get lots of requests to speed up as well, so I have to balance all requests For those who want it slower, I supply Tab for you to look at your leisure. RU-vid's "slowdown" feature is also enabled on this video, so that might help too. Have fun and thanks for the feedback!
