KC took time out of his schedule to visit us on the NATO base in Keflavik, Iceland in the year 2000. (He was on a salmon fishing trip I think.) He played in a softball game with us and hit two of the longest dingers I’ve ever seen in a softball game. He’s got game. Hell of a nice guy.

Love Costner!!! But man has he aged. It really makes me sad that great stars like Costner, Ford, Selleck, and many others I grew up watching are in the twilights of their great careers. And what really sucks is there's nobody coming up the pike that can carry their jockstraps.

Coming from a College pitcher that could hit, Kevin looked like ball player. For Love of the Game is my favorite because it was about a pitcher . He looked 'legit'(and I hate that word). The only thing I wish they didn't do in that movie was SAYING 'clear the mechanism'. They should have just done it and left it at that because that is what happens when you pitch. You see the catcher and the batter and that's it. That zoning in sequence was phenomenal. That is what hooked me on that movie.

@@daveg4236 having played is irrelevant to my opinion. Players generally capable of hitting baseballs 365’ are generally less than 35 years old and are highly conditioned for their sport. Costner is a nice guy and maybe was in good condition but the idea of hitting two over the fence stretches credulity. If true, great story. I still doubt it.

First, loved Bull Durham. Still quote it to this day. Second, having played and coached baseball 30+ yrs., I can tell when someone has the goods. Just watching someone throw or swing a bat usually confirms whether they can play or not. Regardless of opinion, it is not out of the question for a 33 year old athlete to hit a ball out of 365ft ballpark. BP pitches are not typically faster than 70 mph. During his career, KC has been able to realistically portray a switch hitting (difficult in itself) minor league catcher, a professional golfer, and a major league pitcher. It wouldn't surprise me for a second that he hit two out in BP.

@ashleigh bull Durham is a great baseball movie, for love of the game is a great baseball movie. Field of dreams is a drama with baseball in it. Greatest baseball movie is up for debate. There are at least 5 that merit top spot.
