A random video about a deck with random cards which randomly changed to a video about how random control priest is all done by some random. Truly one of the best hearthstones videos of all time
My favourite quote is back when hearthstone was at peak, an mtg tournament had two players ask if they could play a game of hearthstone to settle a draw. The judge said to them "rule 17.3, an mtg game cannot be decided by a random outcome"
I was halfway through this video thinking "huh, I remember Spell Mage! I didn't think Deck of Lunacy was *that* big a deal in that though, Spring Water was the real MVP and I swear there was debate over even Deck...". Then the twist hit. Bravo.
I swear the main issue of the deck was palm reading. Mass mana cheating is always an issue and those loops are mostly caused due to being able to play spells for free. Same for miracle rogue, same for every instance of 0 mana minion spam.
Chundo returns to bring light from the darkness like the morning sun after a century long night. The emptiness within has been filled thus with happiness. I am truly gruntled - this world has finally returned to its intended balance.
I took a break from hearthstone around this time so it’s nice to hear how the meta was around then. Your opponent having constant removal sounds excruciating.
Hi there, Hearthstone esports player here. This meta was rat shit, it started as just “did you draw lunacy and/or flow” not to mention 4 mana refreshing ffs. Also the meme that nagrand was a 7 mana mage card was very much reality. The fact that eventually both flow and lunacy were nerfed to double the cost and refreshing got a mana increase really just demonstrates how completely absurd this clown fiesta of a deck was. It just obliterated the integrity of the game, and almost made people happy to see control priest take over. Almost. I kid you not, collegiate playoffs of this meta included a control priest mirror that lasted over an hour. It was so mind-numbingly soul crushing I started playing Clone Hero during it. Sethekk was dumb, Renew was dumb, deck trackers had a million cards created by other cards on them, it was a painful experience. I’m glad someone is talking about it. Oh yeah, pre-nerf Illucia can die in hell
@@mrchundo Yeah that’s true. I don’t remember why the priests didn’t get banned in that match, but nobody ever wanted to play it or play against it regardless of matchup
I remember talking to a pro from my country in a stream where he was playing rogue vs shaman in a night at karazam, he needed to clear the board and i told hime "swashbuglar into storm, or portal" and he get the lighting storm and far from happy he was like "i remember when winning was about being a good player and not pulling a lighting storm out of my ass"
I can't have hard feelings about Priest. That deck was my last love in Hearthstone before United in Stormwind stole my soul and I quit by the time Nathria came out. It was the last ever successful "No win con, just outvalue your opponent" deck, and that was my favourite way to play.
@@meruempro One of the reasons I quit was the increase of parasitic designs and game-enders that are made to artificially lower game time. It certainly felt like the last time to me, and it was the last in the time that I played.
hey man this is the first time i've seen one of your videos and it was really good. I stopped watching other hearthstone content much because I was just sorta getting bored of it but this video held my interest very well. Taking a historical look at things is a good angle rather than just uploading gameplay.
Man I remember making this kind of deck back around in kobolds and catacomb but it was pretty weak. Haven't played in ages but its amusing that one of my favorite priest deck was super meta at one point.
Anyone remembers a wild time when Renethal was released and Prestor Druid became one of the best decks? What a wild time. Some madlads even brought it to Masters. Truly a deck that is a pile of random garbage
Yo next video should be around the priest class identity and how it’s changed over the years. I know there’s a meme of ‘delete priest’ but maybe a video around the class philosophy would be cool 🤔
@@mrchundo yeah initially it was fun with like Jeweled Scarab and stuff. But when half the cards discover another card, you're just playing a game of chance and rng.
Priest being the worst class without an identity is not even the worst part. The worst part is Blizz trying to make every class play like priest, it already happened to mage, and I can see it happening to DH and Rogue next expansion.
