The Midsundtrappene, a popular hiking trail on Otrøya in Midsund, Norway, was built by Sherpas from Nepal. These skilled craftsmen are renowned for their expertise in constructing stone paths and staircases in mountainous regions and have been hired for several similar projects in Norway. Work on the Midsundtrappene began in 2016 and has continued in multiple phases since then, making the trail more accessible and offering spectacular views. the Sherpas who work on building stairs and trails in Norway, including the Midsund Steps, often earn more than they would by working as guides on Mount Everest. The work in Norway offers more stable and safer working conditions compared to the dangerous and often precarious conditions on Everest. Additionally, the construction projects in Norway provide longer contracts and a more consistent income stream, which is an advantage compared to the seasonal nature of guiding work on Everest.

It's great that it benefits both the Sherpas, and it helps the surrounding nature because people use the stairs mainly, which helps spare the nature next to the trail from being trampled.

Not to mention that the steps reduce erosion from thousands of hikers. Can't imagine what this ride would do to a normal person.

GREAT vid Rémy- Esp. the section at 10.50 onwards- that tech was super gnar. Even allowing for GoPro effect, it's easy to get an idea of how steep and demanding this stair run is. Really like the perspective footage when you walked a section too, and looked back up- Awesome. One of the most gripping videos I have watched from you. (Along w the run down that cliffside w the dude in a sailsuit whipping past your left side!).

2200... I thought it was much more. "The Midsundtrappene hike in Norway consists of approximately 2,200 stone steps. This hike, located on the island of Otrøya in Midsund, is known for its beautiful stone staircase built by Nepalese Sherpas, leading up to the Rørsethornet peak, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape."
@Helge_Torp
@Helge_Torp 2 месяца назад
No, that's only one part of it. Midsundtrappene consist of appx 10.000 steps from the very bottom to the top. Edit; it's 3292 steps, and combined with other paths it's appx 10.000 steps all together. It feels like 10.000 when you hike it though 😅 never ending, but the reward is great (until you have to walk back down which is almost worse than going up)

What skills do you suggest developing to become better at mountain biking? Are there any workouts you suggest that target the muscles used for mountain biking? What bike do you suggest / use currently? I ask all of this because I am somewhat new to mtb-ing, only having done it for ~5 years and only ever having been able to do it at extremely limited trails that do not offer much challenge. You are an amazing biker and I would love to learn how to become better at mountain biking since it is a sport I am passionate about.
