The queen has landed. Wearied from her perilous flight she sheds her wings, burrows into the soft sand and begins to lay. If I recall correctly, most arthropods flee whenever an Army Ant Swarm arrives. Even wasps abandon their nests, and even most other ant colonies just grab the queen and as many larvae as they can to escape and rebuild later. But Leafcutter Ants? Leafcutter Ants _fight._

At first, I didn't know why James was so creeped out about the leaf cutters scaling the plants up until I looked them up, and yeah. Those suckers can actually draw blood due to their powerful jaws. leaf cutter ants are one of the few ants that can actually slice right through human skin and make you bleed, most ants can pinch you but not break the skin. gnarly little jaws they have there.
