Novel AI was not programed for the kind of generation he is using it for, rather it was 'trained' on a few novels and a large selection of fan fiction and erotic novels. It is also important to note that at the time DougDoug did this stream Novel AI had diverted their focus from text generation to their art generator and well that one at the time had three modes, Anime curated, Anime uncurated, and furry... Novel AI was never a meant to be used as a 'game' but as a way to write novel fanfiction but rose to prominence when AI Dungeon went a little too hard on the censorship (I actually know people who got banned not for what they themselves input but for what the AI output) and well... they found an audience found out what that audience liked and started leaning heavily into it. This is the reason for the 'weird' violence-romance-violence direction it keeps going in, if you don't try to control the "AI" of Novel AI it will go crazy and it will choose very violent bloodshed or very graphic 'romance' relatively often

This is a prime example of how the AI, when not constantly corrected and allowed to go on, makes absolutely wacky gibberish.

If you think this is violent AI, you definitely need to look into Neuro-sama, and her younger sister Evil. I personally suggest their latest trolley-problem discussions.

This is the only good use for ai. Using it to make up batshit insane stuff and then having someone attempt to make sense of it

I think I've figured out how DougDoug keeps losing these things. Most of his prompts are straightforward military strategies, and he hedges his bets and includes all his advantages and reasons he should win in his prompts. Trouble is, I think the AI interprets that as hubris, and it loves to squash hubris. By comparison, most of the nonsense strategies chat comes up with probably fall in the category of "it's stupid/insane, but it might just work" trope common to underdog stories. With the AI probably trained on a lot of these same literary tropes, I think it's reproducing them because it just doesn't have the creative ability to pull a George RR Martin and prevent itself from falling into those tropes.
