By bringing home $2,000. a month, it will be the difference between losing my home and saving it. I’m going “full steam ahead” selling on eBay, doing pet day care and any other endeavor I can think of to “up” my cash income. Thank you for giving me inspiration to make it HAPPEN!
@reneeprice2966, I'm in your same position. I have multiple things I want to do, my problem is I just spent my last dollar today. I spend every minute of the day scrambling to locate resources to keep my water and lights on, and other regular daily expenses. I have never been in such a bad situation, now at 66. I'm dying to start listing. I wish you much good fortune with your endeavors. 😊
The audubon society recommends making your own hummingbird nectar. Mix 4 parts of hot water with 1 part regular sugar. Let it cool and fill up the feeder. No dyes
Karen, my favorite thing about your thrifting adventures is that you - and Roger - are sticklers for quality above all. Profit is important, but you don’t just pick up any cheaply made thing that might sell. Thank you!
Karen I watch you every Wednesday and Sunday. But I just saw a comment this past week that said something like this had so many views and listed that but only so many likes. I did not know that every time you watch a video you like it. I'm a subscriber so I thought I was doing what I needed to do for you. Please explain to others in case there are some like me that didn't know this. I promise to like every video from now on🥰
The "beaded" kitty picture looks like a Diamond Painting. It's an inexpensive popular craft kit you can buy that comes with the design drawn out with a color key, plus all the "diamonds" in the colors you'd need to complete the picture. My adult special needs niece loves doing them! Many people frame them nicely for their walls. That's a pretty kitty.
Karen, You are such a mentor. It is so apparent that you want resellers to succeed and feel positive about what they do. Really appreciate your two you tubes twice a week- what a treat!
I love your videos your voice is so relaxing to listen to and exciting to see what's on the shelves they are soo stuffed. Love learning from you. Also that's a beautiful basket 🧺
roger really knows his products !! maybe he can have his own channel too? featuring his finds !! i would watch..his voice is calming, confident, and knowledgeable
WELL!! I just had to leave a quick comment to tell you how you saved me from certain humiliation!! So, I do a Christmas thrift box for a friend each year that is just an extra gift box that has some things I've thrifted for her over the year. I have this coming Christmas thrift box well underway for her. One thing I included was an irregularly shaped ceramic creamer. She likes to entertain and I though she might like it. Only to slowly but surely realize as I watched your video and you commented on something similar, that it was, in fact, a neti pot. A THRIFTED neti pot. Oh my goodness, I looked it up online and confirmed that yep, it's a neti. I was this close to giving my friend a used neti pot for Christmas and presenting it as a creamer for her coffee entertaining. Thanks, Karen!!! 🙀☠🙊❤
This was a very fun video today!!! Your "funky" looking basket looks like a Matt Tommey creation!!! If so, it could be worth some $$$. Please let us know what you find out! 💖
Wahooo, Karen!!!! Great find on the pottery! You work very hard at your craft and it's a win-win ...you as a Seller and the lucky owners who admire this pottery. ☺
The recipe for hummingbird food is one cup of plain, white sugar, and 4 cups of water. Put it on the stove until the sugar has melted and set it aside until it has cooled then fill the hummingbird feeder. I have one miniature one that is out on my small balcony for these amazing little creatures.❤ I look forward to watching your videos every time I get a little notification; thank you so much for all the information you impart on us!
Also, the sugar water can keep them alive when natural nectar is in short supply. I had one pass out at my feeder and had to put sugar water in a water cap and place his beek in it until he started to drink. After a few minutes, he came to life and flew off.
Karen, OMG, so glad l flipped back to your channel. Your simply amazing. I found Teco pottery in Omaha, Nebraska almost 30 years ago. I had a storage shed & ran into some rough times. Got evicted for having a cat,now they allow it! But back to my nightmare, after that my car blew up on the interstate with my 8 yr. Old daughter in the car, etc.. just absote nightmare. My dad was going to start selling things from my storage shed until the owner of the place knew him & me & told him l had a lot of valuable , really nice things in there. Anyway my Dad brought my things to me in a U-hail, what was left after pepe started grabbing up items for nothing. Luckily, l brought my safe with me. I had found thousands of dollars worth of gold & silver & had no idea of the value. God has been watching over me & because love shopped 2nd hand my whole life, love been able to Pa my bills, go to school, take care of my kids with no help, love managed to make ends meet. Things have changed Lot at the bigger thrift stores so l try to go else ware, in my area
I love the drapery rings. These hangers from a wooden pole that is set in cradles pins are put in the curtain tops and the pin is hung from the little eye in the ring. I love when I find them.
When you were shopping and picked up the Van Briggle I was yelling at the screen "check out the green ones too!" I'm so glad you heard me. Congrats on a great score!🎉
I remember wearing tan suede Wallabee's in middle school in the mid 70s. We wore them with Levi straight leg corduroy pants and fair lise sweaters. Very chic!
I live in the same area in PA and I rarely find stuff when I go early. I go around noon/evening and all other times and leave with lots of goodies. I really don’t think time matters… it’s just all chance.
So fun seeing all the goodies. Our local Goodwill is a trash dump! I don’t know where the clean and unbroken items went. We have no color of the week or anything like that. I think someone may be pulling before anything hits the floor! So sad.
I loved that pumpkin sign. I personally don't like weird faces in my Halloween decor!! That would have sold for sure in your booth probably could have gotten 35 for it . Was super cute handmade
I have a few pieces of the aluminum like the candlesticks that you found from my parents’ estate. I can remember my mom putting cookies on the tray at holidays in the 1950’s.
Hi Karen, Pomoroy’s was a department store in the 70’s in Pennsylvania. I remember it as a child. I live in the Pocono mountains now, I used to live in Philadelphia. I hope you and Roger have a wonderful week!💗
“It makes things fun when they(Goodwill) switches things up or maybe not!” lol I saw a post saying the definition of adulthood is when you get mad because they switch everything up in the grocery store!
The Greek lady with hand on hip reminds me of the older woman who was stomping grapes with Lucille Ball on I Love Lucy. She had that annoyed look also.
Good morning Karen from Queensland Australia. Loved your video today. The prices of clothing in thrift stores has certainly gone up.I feel sorry for people who are really in need and not re-sellers. We had a good day at our local market, just selling unwanted items from our shed, and some hand crafted items. Happy days.Val.🐨 💟
Tiffany at Thrifting Vegas has a recipe for the hummingbird feeders she puts out in her yard. She has so many lovely hummingbirds that come feed! I'm sure it's easy as she whips it up and fills them very regularly and I'm sure she would be very happy to share the recipe with you That feeder will be perfect in your beautiful yard. ❤
TECO---Just watched Antiques Roadshow.and someone had a Teco vase. Worth $1,000-$1,500!!! Thought you might want to look it up. Originally aired April 10, 2017 - Season 21, Episode 12, Part 2 (toward end of the episode). Salt Lake City. - Thanks for all you and Roger show us all!!!!!
The “Beaded Kitty” is a newer craft called Diamond Painting. The little plastic pieces are attached to a “mesh” type background with a tool, one at a time.
Karen, those dots on the bases of your Teco pieces are called "stilt scars." Stilts are tripod-shaped risers whose purpose is to keep the pots elevated off the kiln shelves or floor so that they won't adhere to those surfaces when the glaze on the bottom of the pots melts. You just set the pots on top of them prior to firing. They usually leave 3 small marks (or "scars") on the bottoms of the pots that are evident after firing.
Rog is so handy and knowledgeable, he could rewire that nice colonial couple white lamp for your personal use only, though. Don't pass up those small frames, 'cuz art could be hiding inside... Hugs!!
I am so happy for you! I feel very protective of you because in my mind we are friends, lol. I left a comment I regretted almost immediately last weekend when I responded to a rude person commenting on your video. I think my comment was removed because I went back to delete it & it was gone. I get really upset when I see rude comments because I don’t believe you deserve any negativity. I am working on letting those comments go. I know responding rude to rude is not the answer. Some people are just not happy & I need to send them love, not react to them. I apologize for doing so. I just so enjoy your videos. Thank you for all you do!
I just watched an old episode of Antiques Roadshow. Someone’s relative worked for Teco pottery and she had a few pieces. They were worth thousands. 👊🏻👍🏻🥰
Good morning, Karen. I was following these 2 auctions and was Amazed at how much they were going for but this morning watching the final sales value was Stunned. Congratulations! On Sat I went to one of our Goodwills here in Miami, what a disappointment, 3 shelves with house items and barely anything on them. Your Goodwills shelves are so full so much fun to watch. Blouses here are now $7 and up, including Shein used blouses which were originally less than $7
nice haul - although you didnt pick up 2 unicorns and cant wait for my order! 1st time I found a unicorn lamp! An awesome birthday present! Have a great day and you and Roger please take care of yourself!
Thank you sweet Karen for taking me with you and Rodger👍❣ You are always a great reason to sit, relax and get into the Karen world You are so calming to listen to, and with humor slipped in, is🤩refreshing😍
Karen u just crack me up!! Ie: ur dreams and waking up mad ur finds were just a dream!! I have the same sometimes. It’s such a bummer!!! But ur Teco finds were a real live woohoo!!! Love u girl❤
My daughter and I drove 1-1/2 hours to the Lancaster Goodwill because you said you really like that store. I can understand why you say that. It’s very large with a great inventory. We spent a lot of time there, but secretly I was hoping to see you and your husband there. I did see your husband but not you. Darn. It looked like he was high- Tailing it toward the toy section, and because he was there, I thought maybe I’d find you. No such luck. You may remember sending me a note in the mail, telling me you were unable to accept the jewelry. Your note was so sweet and thoughtful, and I thank you for it.
If you’re still interested in miniatures, there is an Antique Marketplace of Lemoyne, Pa, 415 Bosler Avenue, which has recently expanded. I love that place.
Great find on the green pieces and the money for them. I wonder if people who throw things out to Goodwill ever watches and see's what they are really worth and say to themselves " I donated them and I had no idea!!!" As they say "One man's fruit is another man's candy" Glad you found them.
Our Goodwills have 50% off on the last Tuesday of every month. About the only time I go anymore. Their Hard goods section is about 1/16th the size of the Lancaster area stores.
I think it was a mistake putting back the pumpkin wood yard art. There's tons of cheap stuff but that is wonderful quality for someone who isn't in to Halloween but loves autumn!
Your Goodwill prices for the most part are much better than in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St Paul) area. I have not seen 50% off any more , books have increased in price nor have I ever seen $2 days ever. Interesting to see prices on used items higher than the original price on the item, especially the ones from Dollar Tree.
