LiFePO4 batteries provide tremendous amperage delivery as well as a relatively safer runaway profile. And a very long life cycle. Downside is that they are heavier for the same power density as the Tesla cells. But $1.2M from an unknown car company? I can't see why Tesla just add a transmission to get more torque output and get into the 2.3 sec 0-60 for say $200K. I don't give these guys too much of a life span.

Pretty huge curb weight :/ As soon as there's a break through in battery technology (regarding capacity and recharge speed), electric cars will become the norm; Imagine a car like this, not being weighed down by the big batteries; weighing 1400 kg or something similar ...

An all-electric car without a head-up display - that is something I cannot understand. I like the "tablet",but I just don't imagine a car of the future without a head-up display,or an "I-Drive"-like controller. It just... Not logic.

Mate Rimac is incorrect about autonomous cars! At least in America! Americans have always had a love affair with cars. I drive Lyft and Uber...Uber not so much anymore, and I've talked about driverless cars with many of my passengers. I would say that at least 85% of my passengers emphatically stated that they will never give up their cars. No one wants to wait for a car if you want or immediately need to go to the store for a forgotten item for a recipe, or to wait for a car to go anywhere for that matter. Unless they are going out drinking or to an event where they will get scalped on the cost of parking. Most jobs Lyft and Uber drivers do are short jobs. About $5 bucks and most of the MFers don't tip. It's like after they here the chime from the app that the job's done... they look at the cost and close the app. They don't bother going into another screen to rate the driver or tip us...unless they are pissed off at the driver. That's when they'll go into the other screen and rate the driver and make a comment. But most people don't know that if they don't rate us we automatically get a 5-star rating, and in like manner...if we don't rate the passenger the passenger automatically gets a 5-star rating. For Rimac to make a statement that in the future no one will own a car...yeah! not in his lifetime! It would be like waiting for a cab/taxi or a Lyft or an Uber wherever you wanted to go. Most people who request an Uber or a Lyft will cancel the ride if their app indicates that the driver is farther than 7 minutes away. Then there the fact that the manufactures couldn't make enough driverless cars to meet demand. Then there's the issue of storing and recharging the driverless cars. There would have to be huge centralized facilities to store and recharge all the driverless cars, and if they localized the storage... they would still have to have very large facilities to store and recharge the cars. Also, if people have to pay every time they needed a car to do errands, or let's say...go to the beach and have the car all day...or, on a long trip to visit relatives or friends... the cost would far exceed the cost of owning a car! But these guys are looking at it myopically and with dollars signs in their eyes, because in their minds they have relegated users of cars to only what they believe... where the users of cars will go and do. But these are things that they haven't thought about...yet!
