I just did this mod too based on this video. 2001 Z The seatbelt bolt is 3/8 inch thread size btw, 3/4 inch length. You will lose some forward and back range of movement with these seats. They rub against the tunnel as you move back. (Bad for tall people over 6 ft 2in) Your seat will rub against the seatbelt weirdly where it connects to the b pillar. This is because these seats have the shoulder wings where the stock seats don’t. This is an impediment to the seatbelts normal path. Not sure what safety implications this has but thought I’d share my experience. 36 inch inseam and it’s a bit tight around the thighs. Probably as far as you want to be for these. Overall still better that stock.
There's actually a reason why the standard seat back don;t really lock tight. GM said its done that way to protect the seat motors when being them as far back as possible its a cushion so it wont stop the seat motor abruptly.
I got these exact seats for my car and I love them so much but I bought mine from ebay for a total of $360 but I love them so much because it makes my car look more badass from the inside and makes you feel like you are hugged into a modern day sport car I love it best bang for your buck.
I'm not even close to owning my C5 yet and I'm excited to get these seats haha. They look really good for the price. Hope they keep on making them by the time I get my C5 God willing. Love your vids man!!
Well here I am 9 months later, "no pun intended"😂 and I bought a c5 about a month ago and the seats are totally trashed and ripped up so I just bought these same seats and they are still available yet! Got em ordered and just waiting for them to get here, august 9th I think. My brackets, also same as these brackets in his vid, just got here today. So they still offer the same seats and brackets! Got your c5 yet?

And im debating on getting these in my 1998 jeep grand cherokee. Ive seen these exact seats in a 96 xj cherokee which is actually slightly smaller than mines but almost the same.
Guess the seats in the 2002 convertibles are really different. I just love the fit, and they are still supple, no cracks even being 19 yrs old. The bolsters and lumbar power adjustments still work and are really comfortable. I have driven cross country 5 times and have loved every moment in my C5.
I really like my seats as well. I don't know why so many people complain about them. However, my seats are in need of repair and it will be a lot cheaper to get these seats. I would prefer to repair mine I just can't decide what to do. I'm thinking I should just keep my seats the way they are until I get all required parts. Then repair them.
After seeing this video, ordered these seats and brackets. I haven't received the seats yet but I just got my first look at the brackets. I would not recommend using these brackets. The welds are very cheap, they look shallow with tons of obvious spatter, and the whole frame feels light and flimsy. I wouldn't trust them to hold together in an accident, especially the seat belt tab. I think I'll end up sandblasting the finish off and welding on extra gussets and braces everywhere I can. Luckily I've got about a week to get them ready before the seats are here. I'll be closely inspecting the seat frames when they get here too, though I don't think that'll change whether I use them or not. Anything is better than the stock seats.
My c5 has c6 z06 Seats, and somehow still these seats call to me. Strange how even though they look very different the c5 and c6 z06 Seats have several of the same wonky issues. Great video, nice seats!
Sounds like they're only about 7-8 lbs heavier over braum seats(25 lbs), saving $4-500 Definitely will try this route. Thanks for listing the weight bc it's impossible to find that info for any ebay seats. And multiple sellers told me to just buy them to find out since they can't obtain the weight due to drop shipping I believe. Coming from g37 stock seats (88 lbs ea.), can't wait to feel the difference of another +100lbs down.
Wow! ! that is cool seat, good thing I watched your video my C5 seat is going bad and in need of replacement, I did not know those seat from amazon would fit my C5, I would get them now that i know it will fit my C5 , I am glad I come across your youtube video.

@@jaymohamed8547 I sold the car about a year ago. When I sold the car the seats were still as good of condition as when they came out of the box. I am very meticulous about my vehicle so I do take care of things. Just basically like a leather softener on it every few weeks. I know it's not real leather but it seemed to help
@@Acecunningham probably the best vehicle specific ones you can get. They have a website but I was able to buy some on Amazon for ~$140 each. On the pricier side, but quality and good fitment.

I bought a set of these seats and mounts based on this video and started to install them tonight. The head of the recommended 5/16" socket head cap screw is barely larger than the holes in the seat tracks. This video shows 4 of those holding the seat and occupant in place and there is no way that is a safe installation.
How do you think these would fit on a bigger guy? I am about 6'1", 250lbs. 38" waist if that helps for comparison. I have the typical flattened bolsters on my seats, and these look amazing.

Great Video, and the level detail provided, make this seem fairly straight forward. I wonder, how would these fit in the corvertible? I can't imagine they would be any different. What about the controls for the power? Did you disconnet them all together? Has anyone used the C5 brackets for these Universal seats to maintain controls?

Im trying to get seats that weigh 25lbs total with brackets. As i did the math my factory seats weigh 60lbs each 120lbs total. So if i get 2 race seats 30lbs each im only gaining weight loss of my passenger seat basically. So i thought race seats are kinda pointless i should just remove the passenger and leave the factory and it equals the same.
Unfortunately I’m not an average size dude so racing seats are outta the question for me. But I have the same stock seats and when I bought the car, the driver’s side is in bad shape. I’d be really interested in purchasing your stock seats if you were to decide to sell them. I live the n northern VA and I’m only about 4 hours from VA beach area. This was a good video. I just wish I could fit comfortably in a racing seat.
Someone else asked this in the past. Mine perfectly fit right on top of it. I think some trims/ years have a slightly larger yaw sensor. What you could do is add a few washers under the bracket until it clears it.. your passenger seat will just be slightly higher, but probably not noticeable.
Thought about getting some of these for the wife’s Z06 that’s coming but she’s only 5’2. From your experience with these, do you think they will sit too shallow for her? I may have to go another route for hers
You get what you pay for. As a junkyard worker I've seen my fair share of crushed driver and passenger seats. With the blood and hair included. Don't buy junk seats unless you don't mind being in a wheelchair or a box to save a couple nickels. Jus sayin.
They look nice! My husband wants me to get new seats but I worry about seat height and all that. I'm 5ft 2 and I sit on a pillow on my stock C5 seat 🤣😑

I see lots of different feedback on these seats, I know they fit tight in the car I have a 98 C5, but do you think they would be ok for a 6’3” 190 senior citizen…lol..

My passenger seat motor or switch went out on mine and now the seat is stuck pretty much all the way forward. Will it cause any issues with warning lights or anything switching to some manual seats like this?
There is no way Iwill switch my automatic amazing heavy duty seat to the manual cheap seat ...l buy complete pad seat with custom color leather dress my both seat with logo from Amazon and eBay they turn amazing cost between 400 to 700. $
There are a lot of choices out there but stay away from leatherseats11. They will not stand behind their seats even though they claim you have a 2yr. warranty. Apparently my driver side has a bad panel of leather-it's self destructing and leatherseats11 won't reply to me and I've only had them on for 6 months. Beware
I think you would be ok. Ive had roughly 7 hours of seat time so far and took a lot of off ramps and Uturns very spirited if you will and I was snug. In the stock ones I would have been in the passenger seat. 🙄
So I myself have some cheap Amazon seats on the included rails, with high quality planted technologies brackets for my prelude. What is your take on it's safety? Let's say you're stopped at a light and you get rear ended by someone going 50 mph. How do you think the recliner metal would hold up?
I thought of that before buying them as well. When comparing these to the stock ones, the stock ones weren't very confidence inspiring when it came to safety. The stock brackets and seats back are extremely flimsy. Further more any serious accident in the C5 isn't going to be a great experience as these are very light, made of plastic and extremely low. My biggest worry on my C5 is getting rear ended by a truck. As far as the seats, they seem stout enough and they butt up to the frame behind you. Assuming they gave way in a rear end crash there is only a inch or two behind you before you would stop. It MAY actually be beneficial if it.. perhaps like a crumple zone on some cars. 🤷🏼♂️
