seats are a very personal item, and this guys goals with his car are very different then mine. . I like the comfort to be able to change my body position on long drives, and an ease of entry and exit. Gm addressed a temporary desire to avoid sliding around by a mechanism in the seat belts where they tighten up if manipulated to stay tight. my car was set up by an independent corvette shop to be the shop X cross car in a stock class that allowed for an axel back exhaust modification. they chose a flowmaster , more of an old school high quality hot rodder's brand of choice. my neighbor calls the car a hot rod. because of the sound. I'm not digging the extra noise, but any increase in efficiency is a good trade.
What I'd like to know is why the steering wheel becomes off-center by a few degrees after a very hard stop only on cars with MacPherson strut front suspension...
Who else wants a 4 door GTO? Probably no one. Personally, I wouldn't care if another 4 door car was manufactured. 4 door cars are not cool. A 4 door Charger is stupid. A 4 door GTO is stupider.
I ordered my C8 in mid-December 2022. My dealer called me at the end of June 2023 . I was not getting the 2023 HTC that I had ordered. They told me that my order was moved up to the 2024 model year. I got my 2024 for the price of a 2023 . I'm really enjoying my car. Great video. Thanks
I have a real novice question. Can you do this adjustment while the car is on the ground or do you have to jack up the car in order to change the alignment?
I have a convertible that has a lot more carpeting in the back. I have never seen that greasy mess before, unless you have an over happy armor-all user.
Awesome video!! I think I'll do the same to my C8, I'll post to my channel as well to show how it goes...maybe even do a before and after on the sound. What exhaust are you thinking about doing?
I replaced my struts and lubed the hinges last year, with no improvement. I'm definitely going to try cleaning mating surfaces and lube the helper spring. I didn't even know the helper spring was there! Lol!
I did this same thing (besides the deep clean of the trunk lid and reservoirs). New struts didn’t seem to fix my issue however,Just the lubrication of the release mechanism you did at 8:08 did the job for me. Keep the c5 stuff coming, we love it 🍻
I hate to be so negative for such a simple concern, but if the struts were immaterial to function , they wouldn't be there . All the rest of the advice is on target, except I would seldom use a solvent on a painted surface I valued. .
I just did the struts on the vert I just bought and right away it started popping up again, after sitting a couple days it came up just a 1/4 inch however if I open it once it pops up the rest of the day. Good tip about the spring and latch and cleaning.
be careful not to sit groceries, or any weight on the trunk . the very slight , but noticeable to the owner, me, pagoda effect on my trunk lid was explained to me as someone doing that regularly.
That's very odd 🤔 I hope you figure out what's causing it. Cool door trick to open the trunk lol. My coupe has a secret trunk trick as well. If I manually use my key in the driver door and turn key like 3 times the trunk pops open 😂
I'm not sure that's oil it looks like some kind of paint or coating that your cleaner was reacting to.. I went and looked at mine 02 convertible and it's totally dry even when I spray cleaner on it... so I'm not sure why that stuff rubbed off like it did but I'll keep an eye on these comments to see what everyone thinks
there are some mirror kits that someone might have stick on the trunk , and then removed after they figured out, like everyone else not at a car show, that the extra weight doesn't help open the trunk. But since oil is continually all over the back of his car, I would say the most obvious understanding is that the vaporized oil was able to flow past the seals, which were designed to be watertight , not gas proof.
Currently own my second '03 C5Z. This one is a 28K mile cream puff, but the first one had 75K miles. Neither of them had an oily trunk lid like yours. That is definitely weird. I added a "popper" spring from the hardware store to help the trunk lid of my first C5Z, but just simply replaced the struts on my current one like you did. Oddly, I have a carpeted MDF trunk partition, but can still do the "shut the driver door" trick. LOL 😆
Yeah, I'm still scratching my head on that sticky mess 🤷🏼♂️. That's crazy the door trick still works 🤪. And yes, the $10 struts will fix you right up 🤙👍
I remember when everyone was following an internet advice post to add such a popper spring, instead of restoring correct function, when it is so easy. So easy in fact, that I went and bought new struts for the entire car, just so I wouldn't have to have any problems going forward with my used car. I bought them from struts are us , using the same manufacturer who supplied the OEM parts. I've so far just been keeping them in the fed ex box they came in, for a couple of years. they last longer that way, no doubt.
@vetonvettes the biggest mistake i ever made was not running cat-5/6 to every room while I was building. You're pretty high speed so im sure you'll be on top of that. Hopefully you can get fiber. NC has a great car scene.
It's funny you say that. When we were going through the build order I asked if I could get CAT 6 run through the house & the builder said "oh, that's included". I was shocked.. in a good way. They run CAT 6 to the living room, all bedrooms, the downstairs flex room AND the sunroom 🤯
@@VetOnVettes that's awesome. I did however run the wires for security cameras to cover all around the house. I had them put blocking plates in every room also so I didn't have to worry about finding studs in the wall to mount the TV's.
Four years from now I will buy the same C8 car for $24,000 with about 30,000 miles on the clock, I will cut a check and owe no one anything. For a weekend toy that will be fine.
other issues , I've seen with my c5. the hvac displays goes bad and as the same with the abs module , it also has weak solder points, another is issues is the instrument panel issues,, LMC5 body control module fix to fix the issue with the steering column lock and fuel cut off over 5 mph issue. module under the right passenger headlight goes out keeping the headlight from going up or down properly. the yaw sensor in the center console will go bad causing the car to act erratic at times. lateral acceleration sensor can also fail. every c5 will experience ripped driver side seats.
I bought an 04 used an 06 LS 16 speed and now has a tunnel ram dart heads and a relatively mild cam and it pulls to 6700 RPMs runs mid 12s and gets 28 miles to the gallon cruising over 70 my best car evernow has 166 on it and still as strong as ever
To get a performance car from GM is currently very expensive. Corvette or V series Cadillac. Definitely a place for Pontiac, though Oldsmobile was my preference 😊
Where in the 757 are you? I was born in Hampton and visit a lot because my mom's side of the family is down there. Now I live in the 804 with my wife in Powhatan. We love cars. We both own minis. We have matching plates about how we fit since we are both really tall. Mine is the 2010 S w/ Harman Kardon speaker system and hers is the 2016 S.
