-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gordie Howe International Bridge is a monumental infrastructure project nearing the end of its construction. Spanning 1.6 miles, it will be one of the most expensive bridges ever built, connecting Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Canada. This bridge is set to significantly boost trade and travel between the two nations. However, the project faced considerable opposition from billionaire Manuel "Matty" Moroun, who spent over a decade attempting to halt its progress. His resistance primarily stemmed from the potential impact on his profits from the existing Ambassador Bridge, which has long held a monopoly on commercial traffic in the area.
The importance of the Detroit-Windsor crossing dates back to the Civil War and remains crucial today, facilitating a major trade route between Canada and the US. Currently, three main crossings serve this route: the Michigan Central railway tunnel, the Detroit-Windsor tunnel, and the Ambassador Bridge, the latter handling a quarter of all truck traffic across the US-Canada border. The Gordie Howe Bridge, proposed in 2004 and funded by Canada, aims to alleviate the monopoly of the Ambassador Bridge and support the increasing trade demands.
The bridge's design features two large A-shaped towers and the longest main span of any cable-stayed bridge in North America. It will accommodate six lanes of automotive traffic and a dedicated bicycle and walking path. Construction faced numerous challenges, including political hurdles, funding issues, and the COVID-19 pandemic, but significant progress has been made. The bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with an official opening in the fall of 2025.
Despite the opposition from Moroun, the Gordie Howe Bridge is poised to enhance border efficiency and support the anticipated increase in traffic, expected to rise from 18,500 vehicles a day in 2016 to 26,500 by 2025. The project represents a significant investment in infrastructure, promising to improve trade and travel between the US and Canada while addressing the monopoly concerns of the existing crossings.

You know you tell a lot of baloney because you want the people that took 6 years to renovate something that they built and quicker time from scratch back in the day. The ear find that your father builds a log cabin and if he doesn't cut the grass you feel it's okay people can take your grandfather's cabin. It's just a building. A building like many buildings that took away the Marshland that used to once be here and all of the creatures before humans took away the purity of Michigan to poison it with pfas and radiation. The most treasured areas on Earth are peeing populated layered with concrete and radiated.

The downside of the Ambassador Bridge twinning idea was that Windsor didn't want the existing traffic from the bridge never mind the extra traffic. Travelling east-west had become a nightmare. The Gordie Howe Bridge project allowed for this extensive truck traffic to flow from the US Interstate system directly onto the Canadian 400 series highways system therefore bypassing the city streets in Windsor. I don't think you got the funding model correct. The bridge is being built by the Canadian government and tolls are collected on the US side to pay back their costs of construction over 30 years.

App.60 miles north lies the Blue Water International Bridge at Port Huron, Michigan. This forgotten crossing rivals Detroit for commerce. Many truckers currently favor it for ease of crossing versus Detroit.. By a quirk of geography, it actually takes no longer to reach major Canadian cities from the American side by crossing here rather than Detroit, even though the crossing lies 60 miles north.

I would like to interview the architect of this bridge to see if he can design 47 of these bridges in one year, and maintain the schedule to see to all of the work sites and builders we always give the architect the credit of the build the designer can draw a cartoon but it's the engineers that create the mathematics and such for the design to happen as well as all of the laborers. We need to admit that the unions are segregation centers that keep people out from opportunity when they pay themselves higher wages than many others. We should set samples and examples of equality and Fair Trade Fair Labor. The people of Detroit who built the vehicles that go across these Bridges work heavy hours and if they walk off the line they get penalized and I watch these guys build the bridge they are standing around 50% of the time doing nothing. Second, I am adding commentary and telling a story, meaning my use of the copyright-protected material is “transformative.” I am adding new expression/meaning to the original material. I recommend reading through RU-vid Help's article, titled "Fair Use on RU-vid". Third, many creators (much larger than me) employ a similar strategy of using bits and pieces of copyright-protected videos to tell a story. Fourth, as a courtesy of using your video, I tagged your channel in the top left hand of the video, and your video is linked in the description. Long story short: I am using the copyright-protected material, but it is in small bits and is "transformative".

I've been watching your Gordie Howe videos from the very beginning. Excellent work, by the way. But I'm curious to see how this plays out. Klign's usage of your clips is appropriate, as he describes in his response. I personally think he should have credited them in the video itself though, and not just in the description.

@@michaelanthonyvideos Don't you have other things to worry about? ;) He credited you in the info part. The problem with success, is sometimes the camera gets turned on you instead, huh?
