LaGuardia has come a long way! Are the cramped terminals and endless lines a thing of the past? And now it's all about soaring ceilings, skybridges with views, and even a mesmerizing water feature! What's the biggest difference you've noticed between the old and new LaGuardia? Let's hear your stories in the comments!

I'm happy to see the progress at LaGuardia, but don't you think it's about time for NY to modernize the worst subway in the world? I go to Europe and see futuristic, safe, beautiful design. The trains are sleek and fast, and there are glass barriers to protect passengers from falling onto the tracks or being pushed. It's a disgrace to think tourists have to experience filthy, ancient, dangerous stations in NY. They're hideous!

There are serious issues regarding the bureaucracy behind a lot of public transportation projects in the U.S., which lead to many of them being so prohibitively expensive that, ultimately, they aren't even started. That being said, in NYC there a dozen or so (two dozen?) stations that were remodeled and renovated over the past few years, and some of the new ones are pretty nice. On a few occasions I've pointed out the irony in that stations like Grand Central Terminal and the connected Grand Central Madison are some of the most beautiful in the world, and only a few stops away are some of the dingiest and ugliest in the world.

It’s absolutely not the worst system in the world, but god does it need an overhaul Deferred maintenance….and the Mta….this is what we get

4:12 Lol what. The 777 and A330 have need runways of at least 2,500 meters, and LaGuardia's runways are about 2,100 meters. The largest planes that can take off and land at LGA are the 767 and A310, and the largest commercial aircraft regularly at LGA is the A321. There's no way gates were built to handle a 777 or A330 since they would never operate there.

Thanks for pointing that out! You're absolutely right about the runway limitations at LaGuardia. The new gates are indeed larger and more modern, capable of handling a wider range of aircraft than the old ones. While it's unlikely we'll see 777s or A330s at LGA regularly, the improved facilities definitely enhance the passenger experience and allow for more flexibility in the types of aircraft that can operate there.

I think in the past, L-1011’s used to fly out LGA but that was long time ago.

A few edit issues: No 777s can use the short runways @LGA. Nor does BA fly there. But yes, amazing construction feat to achieve on an ongoing operation and having experienced both old and new, most certainly one of the best terminals I’ve used…aside from runway congestion!

Hey there! Thanks so much for your kind words about the video and the new LaGuardia terminal. You're absolutely right about the 777s and BA - we appreciate you pointing out those inaccuracies. We'll make sure to correct them in future videos. It truly is an incredible feat of engineering to have pulled off this transformation while the airport remained operational. We're glad you've had the chance to experience both the old and new LGA and that you're enjoying the new facilities! And yes, runway congestion is definitely something we hope to see addressed in the future. Thanks again for watching and sharing your insights!

@@MegaBuilds5280I make docs myself so I know well the editing stage where an editor will grab frames without knowing such minutia. But don’t worry, my cringe was momentary unlike such inappropriate aircraft B-roll clips found in every episode of The Amazing Race! 😊Good job otherwise.

Andrew Cuomo certainly had his personal issues, yet when it comes to getting civic sheet done - wow he was a whirlwind.

Flew in with the wife and kids 10-12 years ago to see family. Worst experience ever. Went back this past Aug, completely different experience. To do what they did, in NYC, with all those people is simply incredible.

This has to be the most gushing, fatuous puff piece I've ever seen. Those sprawling terminals, with their endless concourses and skybridge entirely lack people movers which would make it much easier - not to mention less exhausting - to travel from one end to the other. Running late for a plane? You better put on your track shoes! What LaGuardia *really* needs of course (apart from a direct rail link to the city like so many other major airports) is *a third runway,* able to handle the larger planes that as other comments have pointed out, require longer runways - but that would cost billions of dollars better spent on even longer concourses and larger parking garages.
@jameshobbs6092
@jameshobbs6092 5 дней назад
I disagree. The fact is it’s too small to warrant people movers which is what I like most about it. Terminal 4 at JFK is a stinking crowded cattle chute with some cows moving faster than others but still clogging up at baggage claim. Also no air-train and limited bus service cuts out the looky’loo air travelers.
@joestrike8537
@joestrike8537 5 дней назад
@@jameshobbs6092 "Looky'loo" = non-flyers who come to the airport just to check the place out? Speaking of which, when I was a kid back in the 50s there was an outdoor observation deck from which you could watch the planes land or take off - and when you inserted a dime, speakers that let you listen to the control room people directing the planes in. You know what I wish they hadn't torn down? The old tapered control tower with the porthole windows, a funky piece of architecture that could've been converted to some other use, like LAX's famous "futuristic" Jetsons-style control tower that's now an upscale restaurant.

Shows a picture of a Delta 777 (long retired), ignoring the 1500 mile flight perimeter and runway length 😂😂

That Q70 from Roosevelt is awful. Especially during rush hour! Take heed...not dangerous just slow ..give yourself time or your trip won't be fun.

The runways have always been notoriously short...no comments on any improvements there or will planes continue to fly off the ends now and then?

Reading the comments on here I find the most winey, complaining, negative statements. La Guardia Airport is a jewel now compared to how it was. Congratulations to New York and form Gov Cuomo for getting the funding to give NYC the modern airport it 😂deserves❤

There is no plan for mass transit (trains station, LIRR, OR NYC SUBWAY),from the airport to Grand Central or Penn Station

Interesting, and sad, that a rail link was not included in the development, despite studies and plans having been done. JFK built theirs, why not LGA? NY politics.

Lipstick on a pig. The short dangerous cross runways are the worst in any big city causing long delays. The airport has no rail access and the BQE and Triborough traffic jams contribute to large delays. Give it a few years and it will look as rundown as the Marine terminal.
