The ‘Disdain’ of Justice Alito and the Supreme Court 

I wonder how many past judges did the same thing but we did not have the technology to identify it and share it with the public. Not to minimize it but to find the positive that we are seeing the truth

In order to regain trust in the Supreme Court, a start would be for Gorsuch to consult Merrick Garland in order to find out how he should vote. Since he is a "constitutionalist" he should be ashamed of his appointment, and work to somehow right it.

14th Sec 3 was ignored. In arguments, Colorado case couldnt use words like Coup, Sedition or Insurrection. Instead 'riot' and 'mob' were used by about four justices.

The best court reform would be to eliminate the filibuster. The ability to change the law (when one party has both houses and the presidency) in response to a supreme court decision would lessen the power of the court. In addition, it would allow congress to use the power of the purse to rein in the court.

More engaged citizenry? What does that mean? Am I expected to write to my rep telling him to do something? That's less effective than my vote (read, barely effective). The only effective engagement I'm aware of is getting rich enough to throw my weight around in the way that has already been done. That is obviously not ethical and is also how we got here in the first place. Not to mention the fact that I probably already command the largest salary I'm capable of - a not insignificant number but hardly enough to move the needle in any measurable way and still a vast sum of money more than most Americans. If the solution is for the average American to be more engaged, than we're screwed.

Alito is an example of who is destroying this country.

I will remember Ms Alito when I see a flag. Flags are very important for her!!

Imho the flag issue is a freedom of speech issue. The lack of ethics accountability is far more damning. Ie gifts and trips given to the members.

US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito delivered a public speech mid November 2020, where he warned about the threats religious believers face in the US from advocates for LGBT rights. Alito correctly observed that the pressure American Christians face today surrounding their religious beliefs is akin to the strictures the U.S. placed on Germany and Japan after World War II. Alito went on to say “For many today, religious liberty is not a cherished freedom. It’s often used as an excuse for bigotry and can’t be tolerated, even when there is no evidence that anybody has been harmed. The question we face is whether our society will be inclusive enough to tolerate people with unpopular religious beliefs.” On another occasion, Justice Alito warned that not only is freedom of belief increasingly under threat, but freedom of expression is as well. "One of the great challenges for the Supreme Court going forward will be to protect freedom of speech. Although that freedom is falling out of favor in some circles, we need to do whatever we can to prevent it from becoming a second-tier constitutional right”
