I like that you described a budget as giving every dollar a task. That makes a zero-based budget much less overwhelming.

This is exactly how I do it. When I’m trying to catch up or save for something special I use any rollover for that. I try to make extra payments on my credit card whenever I can because I hate feeling like I owe someone money 😂😂

I just did my new budget. I have a small debit I want to pay off but my emergency fund is my main focus. I added an extra $10 to my monthly credit card payment. It’s going to be my normal monthly payment until my EF goal is met. I also opened another savings account last year at a different bank from my bills account. I set it up this year to auto deposit $20 from every paycheck. I FORGOT about that account last year and had $500 at the end of the year! I hid the account from my dashboard 😂.

Do you keep your savings in a hysa or only cash bc some banks let you have up to 25 savings account. I like this but inflation is too high to have everything in cash, personally. I’m going to get some play money and do this but keep the actually money in their own accounts
