8:27 there is a miscalculation actually for those who are planning to use a combination of cards. The RHB Shell card provides 12% cashback only when you spent min. RM 2,500 with the card so we can't use it just for petrol sadly.

For a uob card, if we don't spend on dining rm100 and don't meet minimum spend rm500, I will get rm30 or need to spend the entire month rm500 to get full cashback?
How about, instead of jumping through all these hoops, remembering when to spend and where, you simplify your life by using a zero-fee credit card instead? Forget the cashbacks that have you running around like a hamster. The cashback from these cards are not worth the effort IMO.

Went down from doing the same. Too much things to look at. Work is already busy and always on catchup. You just lost track of it. Dont need another catchup game at home too.
Yes! Not wrong at all - hence the UOB One (in my opinion) is the easiest no brainer card to use, nothing to track really (at rm 500/month spending) Ultimately its up to everyone’s preference, it’s not made for everyone - some may enjoy the perks that comes with it, some may not.😊

The real and best cash return is unfortunately not a credit card but a GX bank card … no cap and 1% on everything except summon … when all banks gonna do this?
UOB Preferred card is more of reward points credit card for groceries, monthly payment, petrol, and entertainment. It also have Buy 1 Free 1 Coffee Bean on weekday and Buy 1 Free 1 GSC movie tickets on every Friday.
The benefit from building credit score + cash flow management alone is already worth it (though I understand not everyone will be able to appreciate this)
Does topping-up ewallet for Lazada/shopee/TNG/GRAB count as "online spending"? Or must the online purchase method be made using the credit card option to count?
Hey! For Maybank 2 Gold/Platinum, you can get higher cashback on weekends (amex) not too attractive as compared to the cards here (we also considered it but ultimately filtered it out). While for Affin Duo (someone asked in the comments too), there's RM 3000 min. spending and 3% cash back capped at RM 50/month, so, I think it's not too attractive too.
May I know if I wanna get RHB or UOB credit card but I’m not the user originally, is it necessarily open a new account with the bank so that only I can apply to get the card?
Hi Ron, not necessary, you can use a credit card as is - paying back is just paying the credit card number; getting their savings/current account is optional and a good-to-have, not a necessity!

helo, unfortunately, to get the max cash back, you need to spend on every category as there are capped of each categories at RM10. So let's say if you don't spend on dining, you can only get up to RM30.20 ++ (unless you spend more on other retail spending)
Ah coz it's only weekend spending and only 8%, with a minimum spend of RM 2000 compared to HLD Wise's RM 500. Though you can give it a quick check, it might fit what you're looking for!
