I tried AIWB basically when I first got my permit seven years ago and found it to be atrocious. The community hadn't built these fantastic information networks yet and so I just went with conventional wisdom and chose behind the hip for concealment. Two years later, I begin to dabble again when I got my first J frame and since then it's been the only way I carry, be that snubnose or duty pistol. AIWB definitely takes some patience and curiosity to dial in what is just right for you and it's possible with a much wider array of body types than most people think. Excited for this series!
I'm using the enigma / phlster holster with a glock 43X and my main problem is lack of grip rotation. I have the taller modwing installed and the standard belt on the holes as suggested for maximum grip rotation. I've ordered but not yet received the emod insert to see if that helps at all, but I kind of doubt it will. All I need is something even taller than what I have now and it'll solve all of my problems. I'm thinking I at least need a wedge, which my Tenicor VELO already does somewhat and works fine for me.
This can depend a lot on placement, wedge use, and the relative proportion of gun to body. Check out our video on Sweet Spot. Most of the time, lack of grip rotation results from placing a gun on a body peak.
Im currently struggling with the Enigma Express for Glock 43 myself. Ive failed 4 times in wedgemaking. The taller insert just made my gut (and then my pants after adjusting) look very wrong. I'm pretty close to giving up. 😓
@@XwaYdesu Hang in there! You'll get it. Have you joined the PHLster Concealment Workshop group on Facebook? The group Guides section there has a ton of examples, so you can see how others with your body type are doing. Here's a link: facebook.com/groups/139735863409843/learning_content You can also reach out to customer service for help. Be sure to include some pictures of how you have your holster set up, and how you're wearing it.
@@PHLster group declined me. It said, "Declined by admin assist." I scanned through the group guidelines again to see if there was a note about what to do if I see that there. I thought there had been. But, I didnt see it the second read through. I answered all of the questions. Not sure what to do next.
Is it just me, or does it seem everyone without an Enigma keeps the grip low due to the location of the anchor points of the holster, and those with an Enigma usually carry the grip much higher? Anyone else noticing this? FWIW, I haven't been able to try an Enigma yet.
