PHLster Holsters -- Concealment Education, Kydex Holsters, and Gear
FOR PRODUCT INFORMATION AND ORDERING, VISIT OUR WEBSITE: www.phlsterholsters.com
The PHLster Holsters channel has become an educational resource for folks interested in learning how to conceal a firearm at a high level, whether professionally or as a private citizen. We discuss all aspects of concealment, from basic concealment mechanics to advanced techniques and strategies. We also maintain a library of technical information and instructions for our CCW products, including the PHLster Enigma, Light Bearing Enigma, and Enigma Express.
Formerly called PhillyEDC, the channel was originally founded to discuss guns, gear, knives, freedom, preparedness, self sufficiency, kydex holster making, and other topics related to self defense, liberty, and every-day utility. While it has grown and changed over the years, we are always thankful for the support, positive feedback, and enthusiasm for the project!
What works? Currently using a Wilderness Tactical Lp Pro. But, Perry System suspenders are what make AIWB workable for me. (I am an "adipose American".) I'm contemplating getting their Swift Belt.
For big guy beer belly AIWB carry I find that an extremely stiff belt is the only way that works for me. I like the Kore Essentials but it breaks down after a couple of years and needs to be replaced. Once it is too flexible and begins drooping a bit in the horizontal direction on the fupa which effects comfort because of.muzzle dig-in. Actually it begins getting less stiff in well under a year and then stabilizes to a more slower breakdown.
I was gonna get the P365 XMacro but too bad Sig doesn’t offer a military discount on it unlike the blue label program. Sig offers other P365 variants through the Professionals Program but not the XMacro itself. So it’ll be a 48 MOS for me for now until the XMacro gets added.
Not related to the video, but I guess I figure I’ve got a decent chance at a response on a newer video, and it’s not a super serious or frequent issue. I have a Enigma standard with a custom holster and I’m looking for advice with regards to the latch bit on the leg leash, sometimes my phone or the holster itself will poke the latch bit and then it comes all undone, which has caused it to be dangling out of my shorts a few times. Definitely not ideal in public as I want to ensure that my setup is completely unknown. Don’t think this is an Enigma problem though, probably more like a problem with MY setup of it, and I know there’s always good ways around minor issues like this. Tips from anyone are welcome :)
@@jalakor 99% of the time, this is caused by the leash not being fully snapped. The snap is often tighter than people expect and it results in incomplete fastening. Make sure to watch the instruction video for that on the website, ensure that it’s actually fully snapped, and if that doesn’t solve it, contact us for a warranty replacement.
@@PHLster MAN y’all replied fast, thank you for the advice and resources! Next firearm I get for concealed carry I’ll definitely be grabbing another Enigma :D
This may seem like a silly question... That yoga block looks fairly sturdy and dense. I picked one up from amazon, and it's got a bit of squish in it... is that fine, or would you recommend something more rigid?
I lost interest in tiny guns when I started carrying with my Floodlight; that holster conceals so well that I don't see a need for a gun smaller than a Glock 19 anymore.
Good information. A lot of the "oversized" baseplate issues you mentioned with the Enigma with much smaller guns/holsters is also an issue with many hybrid holster brands such as Alien Gear. I personally tried to use an AG hybrid with a PPK-sized clone and it just added WAY more bulk than necessary compared to the lengthened and wedged Vedder I ended up using with that gun instead I 100% agree that the keel principle is super important to both comfort and not printing of the grip. You will need a WHOLE lot more belt tension to bring the grip in without enough keel and the muzzle will dig in anyhow but harder with more belt tension dialed in. Longer keel, less belt tension needed, less muzzle dig-in pain and more comfort all-around. A longer DIY wedge can be wrapped around the bottom of the holster to further lengthen the keel as well as pad against muzzle dig-in. The downside of doing this is that it tends to block off airflow through the holster at the muzzle end and this may cause moisture retention issues and thus more rust issues.
So I used to carry using a T1C holster and it took forever to get it perfect to where it didn’t hurt while carrying my pistol. I’m also overweight and got recommended the enigma, so I’ve been doing my research and I’m glad I came across this vid.
Is it possible to conceal carry at the side or in 4 (or 8) o'clock position without printing or protruding if carrying handcuffs, an expandable baton and a 9mm pistol that uses a double stacked or staggered magazine? I'm keen to pick up concealed carry, especially as part of personal preparation to sign on with the Singapore Police Force or the Central Narcotics Bureau, especially for vocations in both agencies that require concealed carry, like CID, SecCom and Air Marshal Unit. SPF issues the Glock 19 Gen 5 as a standard service sidearm for regular servicemembers while still issuing the Taurus Model 85 revolver for its conscript and volunteer ranks. CID and SecCom issue the Hekler & Koch USP Compact 9mm. Both pistols have an overall width of 35mm and use double-stacked or staggered magazines. Our law enforcement agencies, including the SPF, have issued the Bonowi EKA Camlock 21" since around 2018 or 2019, replacing the Monadnock PR21 extendable tonfa and the ASP friction lock expandable batons. "Off-duty carry" is not allowed for most SPF personnel other than vocations like CID and SecCom where officers must be ready to respond from wherever they are.
I just sand the kydex and apply a large pad of loop side velcro to the back of the holsters. It takes of the edge and keeps things comfy. Looks like this comfort scape geometry is quite bulky
Just bought the express, gotta say the leg leash is a nightmare to adjust.. should seriously consider reworking that! Other than that looks great on my first few tries with it 👍
Would be cool to see a video on which one is better for use, even if it is outside the lane of this company. It's weird how people hate on visible lasers over red dots, but love IR lasers over red dot for home defense, even though they aren't all that different in use.
As an avid member of the night vision and IR commonunity for years now, I have never heard of anyone recommending an IR laser for home defense over a red dot or visible laser. There are very few circumstances where vis laser will out perform a red dot from a tactics stand point as well as reliability.
@@GldenRetriever Let's break a few things down here.Tunnel vision isn't specific to night vision, that is something that needs to be trained through, specifically worked dudes do this specific things in shoot houses in full daylight. Heads up shooting can help with that but it doesn't fix the problem of lack of training (done both with trained guys and untrained guys, with nods and without nods, and it doesn't matter much if you have tranied the skill). Lastly I haven't heard of many people realistically thinking they will have time to put nods on in a home invasion to run IR in the first place. Now I'm sure you could figure out some home invasion scenario where you do have time to put nods on and then sure IR laser is an option. With night vision becoming more common throughout the world, there are discussions with how relevant they are today, passive shooting is becoming more and more the norm when it comes to nods.
I'm guessing you're also not supposed to buy clothes that properly fit. I'm a 30" waist so I've been buying 30" waist pants for 25 yrs. However when I add an IWB holster and my Taurus G3C, I can barely button my pants. I'm guessing the only option is to buy loose baggy pants that will only stay up with a belt.
We can definitely help you with that. Many factors can contribute to back ache when carrying a gun, so get in touch with us, join the Concealment Workshop, and sign up for one of these classes. It’s probably a simple fix.
Wow, this is really great. So many considerations I hadn't really thought about, and explained by a woman of color with a Northern accent, very much like myself, which is so much less off-putting for me than yet another right wing bearded white guy with a Southern accent who can't get through a script without making jabs at people on the left, women, or LGBT people. Very happy to support this Philadelphia company, the birthplace of American freedom.
If you’re having an issue with the leash, make sure it’s fully and completely snapped and oriented correctly. And you can always contact us via the website for support or a replacement.
Love my enigma! Use it probably 80% of the time in my edc rotation. I actually find it easier to put on than a belt since majority of the time I wear shorts without a belt. Quick to strap up my enigma and throw shorts on top. Like you said, takes time to setup initially but once it’s set it’s great
I'm 2mins into video and I'm here to tell you they are speaking facts. I own 3 pistols one is very conceal able S&W shield plus PC. but it looked like i was carrying a rifle under my XL shirt.. I'm only 5'6 i don't need xl shirts until i watched another video of just the female she talked about the wedge i ordered one and a claw now i can wear a small if i wanted too and you can't tell I'm carrying..
I’ve been trying to find out how I want to CC, recently got my first gun, and I wear a lot of leggings so I wasn’t sure if a regular holster would work for me. I really like the enigma from what I’ve seen from the many reviews I’ve looked at, but I’m still not entirely sure what will work best for me. Obviously I’ll still need a holster to attach to the system. I just don’t quite know if it’ll be a better option for me or not
