Never comment in RU-vid videos. For a year and some months, I’ve had back and hip issues take me away from college basketball. I didn’t think I’d be able to fix these issues and started looking away from the game. I just started doing these exercises today, and for the first time in forever my back feels usable and I can walk and move correctly. You saved my basketball career.

If I only had the internet when I was young could have saved myself a lot of pain and fatigue. Always too tired. But it was because I was out of alignment. #1 you need to address proper breathing technique/the diaphragm. These exercises are only good if you’re not stuck in overextension to compensate for a limited ribcage which exists due to improper diaphragmatic breathing. Jamming people into more extension when they’re already overextended (anterior pelvic tilt, tight anterior neck muscles, depressed ribcage/sternum) is bad. You might LOOK like your posture is bad, but that could simply be because you’re not extending your torso properly with your inhalation.

@schroederluck7984

For anyone that reads this, I fixed my severe postural kyphosis that I wasn't able to treat through physical therapy. It was actually pretty simple but also challenging. The key for me was doing the basic compound lifts. Bench, OHP, Squat, and Dead lift. I have been very very strict about form and using light weights until I was happy with my form. It took me 2 months to see a noticeable difference and now I have no back pain and good posture. I think the dead lifts helped more than anything.

I was diagnosed with 10 degree lumbar scoliosis in s shape when i was 20, didn’t even remember having an diagnose as i never felt pain etc until now as i am 33 and did 5 sets 10 reps pushups with 15 second pause in between 4 months ago. Since then i have had excruciating pain in my lower trap area, it makes me so unmotivationsl that i wish my body wasn’t mine anymore. Visited physiotherapists a countless of times, they gave me some excerises to do at home wich didn’t help at all. I have no clue what caused this and the physiotherapists seem to not know either. I’ve been googling and some say just as you that building muscle removes the pain, but im too scared to trigger it again😢. My anxiety is skyhigh 24/7 and its all i think about.

I'm a little doubtful about twisting the lumbar spine under load. It's a light load but my understanding is that the last exercise (squat with rotation) puts your lower discs at risk. Would love to see a comment or response to this concern; even if it's not an issue when done correctly it seems like an easy thing to mess up with too much weight
@Music-gw4qf

Yah, is this a problem?

@AadetTube 6 месяцев назад
Your discs are at risk from any heavy weightlifting anyway, and degenerative changes happen as you age no matter what. Should you get a herniated disc it will in vast majority of cases be healed after a few weeks. A lot of healthy people even have herniated discs without it causing any symptoms.
@Xtroninater
@Xtroninater 3 месяца назад
This would be correct if you were using heavy weights, but this exercise shouldn’t be done with weight progression. This is a mobility/stability exercise not a strength exercise. Just choose a decent weight for your personal strength and limits from 5-25 lbs and try it with that. Only go heavier if you need to to feel the stabilizing muscles engage.

I still don't see the one thing that helped me tremendously was just learning to relax those muscles more. I feel like a lot of people would just benefit from that more than anything else. As Dr Mcguill has said before: You can hold onto a 1 pound weight all day but your muscle will eventually tire out. Learn to let that weight go. It has certainly helped me more than anything. This and just making sure your environment is setup in a way so that you can relax those muscles.

Start with this first. But basically, 1 minute isometric exercises help temporarily after a 30 seconds stretch. The stretch is always opposite of the cause: look up to stretch your neck & bring shoulder blades towards your spine using a wall to push your elbow. You'll feel it in the armpit (ish). For pushes, hold a push into some form of resistance. e.g. place the flat of your head against the wall and do a diagonal plank using your head to support your body for 1min. For shoulder blades, try squeezing them together while against the wall. You want the wall to stop you from moving too far, and to hold the push the whole time. Try SquatU's advice, and if it doesn't help try my bad advice

Sometimes, changing something physical can actually improve your mental health.
