Just learn the four basic chords: •G major •D major •E minor •C major And then learn this strumming pattern. Boom bam. Now you know how to play guitar enough to get laid.

Thank you for the encouragement and the confidence boost. Too often instructors play and make it look so easy without acknowledging the difficulty which fora beginner is a big kick in the crotch. The fact that you recognize we all sucked at the beginning and the importance of a constant daily effort will get you there is more important than the actual lesson itself. Kudos to you for your humility and encouragement and all for free! This just makes me now want to support you and make a purchase!

@@yourguitarsage ..another thank you, Erich. I'm in the 365 Guitar Plan, thanks to your extraordinary generosity to veterans. I also just completed lessons w/ Guitar For Vets- netting an exquisite Yamaha guitar, plus a superbly written booklet called "Guitar Methods, Book 1". It supplements your lessons beautifully, and I wish I'd had it before asking you all those dumb questions in UGS Pro broadcast. .. (get one, Ray. UGS too. they're that good. seriously. you'll thank me.) cheers p.s. love the new Livestream! (even in replay)

I also needed this video ! My best friend is a professional guitarists , he said that I should develop a sense of timing over time. But this guy has perfect pitch in his ears. He can determine instantly any note played on any instrument with his back turned and never miss! any key any note any chord and tell you where you're finger is on the neck without looking ! I said this to say that I think music comes easier to some than others.

YGS, I have been only recently stated the “first 30” lessons and YOU, my friend are not only a master, but as I’m 41, you have inspired me to keep trying. I have attempted to take up the guitar several time and get into a rut, and believe I’m not getting anywhere, so give up. Doing the first 30 I feel I’m making progress consistently. If I were to win, would really love to be taking the rest of your lessons. As it would change my life more than it already has. As for the guitar, well I live in Australia, and have purchased an acoustic guitar already, so I would ask that you donate it to a deserving less fortunate person, in the hopes that taking up the guitar would change their life as well. Keep up the great vids an mentoring!

To learn guitar at my own pace and at my choice of time is great, but to be taught by the primer online and one on one instructor is absolutely the happening of a lifetime. Videos that aid and assist every level of guitarist. I have searched east to west and back east again and this is the best of the best. Thank you Erich, you make my life even more wonderful.

Thanx for the lesson I was looking for. "the most common strum pattern". Well communicated and clear. If it helps others I use a slightly different count to help me with the non strum beats. 1 2 and miss and 4 and ( 1 2 + miss + 4 +) Counts are downs, "ands" are ups and "miss" is miss I prefer to use count numbers over ups and downs because I know the numbers will repeat the beat 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4

Do you find that there are people that just "get" strumming or timing? The reason I ask is because you can do any strum and I can instantly play and remember it. However, if i'm asked to say it out loud it slows me down. I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk, but when people ask "what is the strum pattern" to a song; my mind instantly asks, aren't you listening to the song? I am older, but I just started really learning how to play about a year and a half ago. You have been very helpful...thank you.
@akselrog
